The distance between Bangkok and Krabi

As has been described above, the direct distance between the capital and the center of the Thai province of Krabi – Krabi town, 650 km (406 miles). However, we can not just cover this distance in a straight line on the map. Therefore, a more useful to know the distance that must be overcome or that transport between the two cities. Distance between Krabi Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok and is 650 km (406 miles), between the airport and Krabi and Bangkok Don Muang airport – 665 km (414 miles). Given that all these airports are not located in urban areas, but only in the suburbs, the total distance that you must overcome, is increased by about 30 – 40 kilometers (18-25 miles).

The distance between the center of Bangkok and Krabi town center by road even more and is 783 kilometers (489 miles). In this case, the starting point in Bangkok is the Democracy Monument and in Krabi Town – urban municipality. The same distance will be between the Krabi Bus Station and South Bus Station in Bangkok (which is best used for travel on this route). But if you decide to use the bus, whose route begins at the North Bus Station in Bangkok – Mo Chit Bus Terminal – the distance to Krabi will be even more – 792 km (795 miles).

Distance from Bangkok to Krabi - it depends on the type of transport

Distance from Bangkok to Krabi – it depends on the type of transport

If we talk about the distance between Bangkok and Krabi on the train, then you should remember that in Krabi no railroad. Therefore, choosing the train, you have to be ready to overcome part of the way from the capital to the province by bus from the town of Surat Thani or Trang (it centers adjacent to Krabi). Thus, using the trains the distance between Bangkok and Krabi will be at least 960 km or 600 miles when traveling through Trang, and not less than 795 km (497 miles) at a trip through Surat Thani. Read more about the use of trains and their value – see below.

Flights from Bangkok to Krabi – schedule and fares

Flights on the route Bangkok – Krabi are the best option for those who have a limited time of rest and does not suffer from budget constraints. Approximate flight time from Bangkok to Krabi – 1 hour and 20 minutes, ie, between takeoff and landing it takes very little time. Option is most convenient for those who arrive in Bangkok at the main  airport of the country – Suvarnabhumi –  and later use the local airline flight, flying from this airport to Krabi Airport (Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways). The disadvantage of this option for a long time there was only one – a sufficiently high price for domestic air travel tickets. But now you have the opportunity to buy air tickets from Bangkok to Krabi cheap and from Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Using the search form posted above, you have the possibility to buy cheap flight tickets from Thai Smile airlines – from 30 USD for the flight in one direction. I draw your attention that tickets for aircraft of this airline is often not available when searching with using the popular world aggregators (eg Jetradar that I normally use and would recommend). Also i want recall that the cheapest flights Bangkok – Krabi flights usually morning and evening, and afternoon flights are more expensive.

Those who value every minute of their stay in travel and can not afford to waste time on a long trip by train, by bus or by car from Bangkok to Krabi, but and at the same time you do not have the possibility to buy cheap flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport, i can recommend to search flights of Thai low-cost airlines: Thai AirAsia, Lion Air and Nok Air. The cost of tickets for the route Bangkok – Krabi in this case also will be very  democratic and almost not differ from the price of the ticket on the VIP bus, which overcomes a route for a much longer time.

Using flight search form above, you can see that on the same date of the cost of the flight various airlines on the route Bangkok – Krabi vary significantly. So, while flying one way low cost airlines want fare for the air ticket of just $ 29- $ 40 (or 27-38 euro), while the more expensive – from $70 to $130. If we are talking about the flight in both directions, that Thai AirAsia and Lion Air will transport you for the amount of $ 50-80, while the price of tickets from Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways starts at $ 100 and $ 210 respectively. Depending on the day, fares can be changed, but their order remains approximately the same level. During searching for flights from Don Muang Airport in Bangkok, you can also use Jetradar. Sometimes, but not always, it saves $ 3-5. It’s not a lot of money, but for them, you can buy a 2-3 bottle of delicious Thai beer – for yourself and for your friend (or your girl).

Flights from Bangkok to Krabi - fast and inexpensive!

Flights from Bangkok to Krabi – fast and inexpensive!

The apparent disadvantage here you can select only one: when you buy low cost airline ticket from Don Muang airport in Bangkok, you must spend more time in thai capital and you can not immediately transfer to another plane at the Suvarnabhumi airport after arrival in the country. But if you plan to visit the province of Krabi and its famous island not immediately after arrival in Thailand, this disadvantage not so serious, because you can get from Bangkok easily in any of the capital’s airports. And when you have arrived at Suvarnabhumi, always have easy access to Don Muang Airport using the free shuttle bass or other modes of transport, as described in the article “How to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya.”

There is also a some flights to Krabi from Bangkok with one or two changes (on the islands of Phuket and Samui), but personally I see it is not quite reasonable idea to transplant whenever possible to make a direct flight for 1 hour and 20 minutes at a good price (indirect flights are more expensive, and their total duration is almost identical (and sometimes more) than the journey by bus to Bangkok – Krabi. Upon arrival in the province of Krabi, take some time to just get to the coast, where you can stay and where you can catch a boat or ferries to the islands. Transportation from the Krabi airport and the cost of any transport are considered in the article: “Krabi airport – detailed review”, so I will not repeat here.

Bus from Bangkok to Krabi (route bus and tourist bus)

A considerable number of tourists despite the high speed and low fares (in the case of budget airlines) flight from Bangkok to Krabi prefer to use a regular bus service. Option more accessible for the money, because the cost of an ordinary bus ticket first class (not VIP) is about 680 baht. Travel time such buses is about 12 hours, ie, after leaving the Bangkok from six to eight o’clock in the evening (standard time of departure of buses), you can arrive to the bus station in Krabi at six or eight o’clock in the morning respectively.

In addition to saving on the cost of travel, bus from Bangkok to Krabi you can save on lodging at the hotel, which for some is also important. Arriving early in the morning in Krabi, there is a great opportunity to use slowly and relatively cheap local transport to Ao Nang and to the some islands of Krabi province, while still just have a lot of time to find a good variant of stay. Of course, if you’re not one of those travelers who prefer to plan ahead and find the best hotels with the best prices using the search form below.

The drawback of options with a bus from Bangkok to Pattaya just one: not all easy to endure long bus journeys. But honestly buses in Thailand quite comfortable, even when you travel in the usual first class, not to mention the VIP areas. The spaces between the seats is enough (at least for people of average height, as I – 183 cm). During the path to Krabi, every bus make a several of sanitary stops, where you can stretch your legs and have a snack. Speaking of a snack: at long distances in the Thailand, bus company usually give for passengers a little dry rations in the form of cookies or biscuits with the package of juice or a small bottle of drinking water in Thailand.

In the all of buses 1st class in Thailand have a air-conditioned, so people who do not tolerate cool better take care of the presence of more warmer clothing than a T-shirt and shorts. However, the buses free give small plaid, which are often enough to escape cold and get some sleep. Currently buses from Bangkok to Krabi depart from the two bus terminals of capital: the North Bus Station Mochit (Mor Chit) and the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok (in Thai sounds Sai Tai Mai). A detailed description of bus terminals capital of Thailand and bus schedule, and ways to easily and inexpensively reach them, see through the links in this article.

The big number of flights on the route Bangkok – Krabi goes from the southern bus station, so if you can not buy a bus ticket in advance (a few days), or when in Thailand the high season – it is better not to risk it and go immediately to the Southern Bus Terminal, since probability of availability of one of the four flights still higher. And arrive at the bus station, it is desirable at least two hours before departure of the first bus, ie, about 16:00 – 16:30, to ensure to leave on that day. Regular buses to the terminal in the Talaat Kao (Talaat Kao) which is located a few kilometers from Krabi Airport and is connected with the latest low-cost public transport.

Bus from Bangkok to Krabi - not very fast but cheap!

Bus from Bangkok to Krabi – not very fast but cheap!

You can get to Krabi from Bangkok not only at route bus from the bus terminals, but also on tourist bus, which you can find on the bus station on famous Khaosan Road in Bangkok and other popular places in the capital. Tickets for these buses can be purchased at many street travel agencies, and the fare can be either lower or higher than the price of the trip bus. If you read the article “The main methods of fraud in Thailand”, then you already know that the use of such travel buses is little bit risky.  I want to remind you that at the present time to buy tickets for the buses in Thailand is very easy online. To do this, you can use the search form and choose the buses that suit your schedule and price.

Big advantage of farang.12go.asia service also in the fact that you can always see the point fit on the bus at Bangkok map and the point, where the bus will take you to Krabi. You can also read the reviews of people who have already used the bus from Bangkok to Krabi and then you can choose the bus company. that you liked more. During the sanitary stops, try do not lose your bus! As a rule, in the parking lot many similar buses, and do not always have labels in English. Therefore you need try remember the bus number and coloring of its sides.

Train from Bangkok to Krabi

In this case, you just need have an idea of what to get to Krabi from Thailand’s capital or any other city in the country will not make easy for the simple reason that in Krabi no railroad, and in the coming years it there will not. This means that in any case the route will be combined, i.e. train + bus, train + minibus or train + taxi. Additionally, in this case may be need using local transportation too, since the bus and railway stations can be located at some distance from each other.

Nearest big railway stations from Krabi, whither you can purchase a train ticket from Bangkok, a located in the main cities of neighboring provinces: Surat Thani and Trang. Buy tickets and board the train should be at the main railway station in Bangkok – Hua Lamphong Station. In order not to mislead you about the exact departure time and fares (because schedules and prices may change depending on the season and the Thai baht exchange rate against foreign currencies), I will not post on this page schedule of trains from Bangkok. Instead, I advise you to use the added below search form. You can just see the train schedules and fares, and also you can buy tickets online.

Train from Bangkok to Krabi - not fast and sometimes expensive way!

Train from Bangkok to Krabi – not fast and sometimes expensive way!

This is very important, because even on the official website of the Thai railways you can not buy train tickets online. In addition, you do not need to worry about how, after leaving the train in Trang or Surat Thani to find the right bus to Krabi. Using this search form, you can just buy the complex ticket train + bus. In this case the cost is not too high. In any case, you should know that the train in Thailand is not very cheap, and flying a plane can be even cheaper than a trip on the train from Bangkok to Krabi, even without an additional bus.

If you do not want to buy an integrated ticket and if you’ve never used the railways in Thailand and have no idea of what classes of trains and carriages used in the country (and it is necessary to know when buying a ticket), I advise you to read the article “Trains Thailand – detailed review”. To find trains to Trang and Surat Thani and then bus to Krabi, you can also use the search form on this page. As a rule, each day from Bangkok to Trang is sent 2-3 trains of different classes, and the travel time is usually longer than the bus (15-17 hours). At the same time on the road from Trang to Krabi will have to spend another 2 hours by taxi or 2.5 hours by bus. Train to Surat Thani daily sent about a dozen, and not only at night, which can be more convenient. travel time also does not very small and ranges from 10.5 to 12.5 hours depending on the class of the train. But to get from Surat Thani to Krabi longer: from 3 to 4 hours, with a bus ticket will cost 200 baht. The most convenient VIP sleeping trains are usually bought in advance, because there are not many places, and the Thais very love their night trains.

Thus, it can be concluded that the choice of train to bridge the route Bangkok – Krabi not entirely successful version: once all the long, difficult and expensive (if you take a normal sleeping place). Add to this the terrible train punctuality in Thailand (2-3 hours late for such a distance is not uncommon), and you finally realize that the options to buses and airplanes are not so bad. But if you are afraid to fly, and the night crossing on the bus you think hard labor, the train can be considered good idea, because its main advantage – relative safety and the ability to sleep (or just spend time) in the supine position. Also you can use train from Bangkok to Krabi when your travel budget quite small, and the cost of travel in third class carriage (without air conditioning) seems to be very attractive.

How to get from Bangkok to Krabi by taxi or car

Thailand is a country with a well developed domestic air traffic, therefore use of taxis for long distances is usually impractical. The situation with the route Bangkok – Krabi is no exception. So if you want to reach the Krabi province with using a taxi, you should be prepared for the fact that the cost of transport in most cases will be higher than the cost of the most expensive ticket. The exact price is difficult to call, because the taxi-meter at a distance of over 800 km is unlikely to agree to use even one metropolitan taxi driver, but the approximate price range is known.

Depending on your ability to trade, from the airports of Bangkok taxi to Krabi would cost about 9000 or 10,000 THB ($ 270-300). Taxi drivers in Bangkok can tell you little bit less crazy price, but even in this case, you can not wait an amount of less than 7500 baht  – it would be naive. Therefore, it makes sense to use taxi from Bangkok to Krabi if there is a lot of baggage with which you do not want to go by bus or plane, as well as in a situation where you have at least 3 passengers, and the fare is not too important to you.

Much more interesting and cheaper option for those who prefer car travel and those who are not very concerned about the need to drive almost 800 kilometers on thai highways – rent a car in Bangkok. By use service Rentalcars you can rent a car of any class at the best price in Bangkok and travel to Krabi on it. Car rental offices in the capital city of Thailand a lot, including directly offices rental companies at the airports. The roads in the country is very good quality, but you must  get used to left-hand traffic in Thailand (if in your country on the roads right hand traffic). And in any case, be careful.

The route by car from Bangkok to Krabi next: leave the capital on the road №4 and move toward the province of Chumphon 470 kms. Generally, you can simply go on this track №4 to Krabi, because it passes through the Krabi, and goes further to the south of the country, but from Bangkok it goes to the west and runs along the coast of the Andaman Sea in Chumphon district trail passes near the island of Phuket and only then back out to the east side near Krabi. As a result, the route is much longer – is above 1000 km.

Way from Bangkok to Krabi by taxi or by car for rent

Way from Bangkok to Krabi by taxi or by car for rent

Therefore, in the area of Chumphon is better to turn to a more optimal and shortest route: continue driving south on highway №41, passing through the province of Surat Thani. After 195 km, at the intersection with the highway number 44, turn at the roundabout to the right and drive 97 km to the district Au Luek, where there is a crossing with the familiar route number 4, in which directly to Krabi will drive about 30 km (highway passes near airport). The distance from the center of Bangkok while driving on this route will be about 780 km (from Suvarnabhumi Airport – a little over 800).

By the way, it is not necessarily the way back from Krabi prodelyvat similar way by car. If you take a car in a hire well-known international companies, it is possible to leave the car in Krabi and get back to Bangkok by bus, by train or by plane. Hopefully, after reading this article, you no longer have questions about how to most quickly and most cheaply get from Bangkok to Krabi. I wish you successful travel and Godspeed!

Pai Plong beach in Ao Nang - reviewPai Plong beach in Ao Nang, also known as the beach of the Hotel Centara, is a very beautiful and peaceful place of rest. Like all beaches in Thailand, Pai Plong is a public beach. This means that access to it is free for all tourists and local residents who have chosen as a recreational resort of Ao Nang in Krabi province. Despite the fact that the Pai Plong beach you can find within walking distance of the tourist village of Ao Nang, until now the number of people visiting it is very small (for this has its own reasons). This details overview explains how you can easy get to the Pai Plong beach from Ao Nang. Also in this article posted photos of beautiful Pai Plong beach, photos from individual sections of the road for him. At the end of the article on the page, you will find a small video review of the beach.

I understand that a small number of people on the beach at Centara is due primarily to the fact that a lot of people just not know about this beach. Scenic high rock on the beach and in the sea (at the end of the main beach of Ao Nang) securely hides located after her Pai Plong beach from the eyes of tourists. Some tourists know about the existence of the beach (for example, watched Pai Plong from afar from the sea during a trip by longtail boat to peninsula Railey or during one of the sea excursions from Ao Nang (for example, a tour of 4 islands. But they have no information how to this beach can be easily reached on foot from the more popular and crowded main beach of Ao Nang resort.

How to get to this beautiful beach? In reality, everything is very simple. There is a special trail, built on the ledge of rock and connects the beaches of Ao Nang and Pai Plong. But in order to find the way between the beaches, it is desirable to know the specific location where this way begins. At the same time there are some nuances that force people (which even know of the existence of such a way), refuse to visit Pai Plong beach after an unsuccessful search of this path. I sure that after reading this article, you will not get lost and can easily overcome the required distance between the beaches in just 5-10 minutes.

A small creek at the end of Ao Nang Beach

A small creek at the end of Ao Nang Beach

In the picture above you can see located a small rivulet, which flows into the sea near the end of Ao Nang Beach. This stream is your first landmark, and wishing to get to the beach of the Centara Hotel, you first need to get to it.Being in the town center of Ao Nang, for example, near a ticket office for boats, you need to move south along you can walk on the fine sand at the water’s edge (for me personally it always pleasant). In addition, you can walk after sun beds line. It is more civilized and a shaded way, which have a hard coating until the middle of the beach. In any case, sooner or later you will be rested into the rivulet, behind which you can see wood stair  and walkway, which going the opposite side from the sea.

Start the trail leading to the beach Pai Plong

Start the trail leading to the beach Pai Plong

Immediately, I note that this path does not interest us, but will have to go across the stream. It is not deep, so even at high tide, you can always find a place that is easily overcome by without shoes and without wetting pants or a skirt. Personally, I just jumped a few times specified stream at its narrowest point, because I do not like wet feet. But it is necessary to accurately calculate the forces, since even in the narrowest point of the width of the stream at least 3 meters. In addition to jump and land it is desirable not at the water’s edge, but little further: the coast consists of fine sand and easily break off, because which is easy to land in the water. After overcoming the stream, you need to move further along the coast. It can be a good time to relax on the big stones under big trees with dense branching crown. You can also dry your feet, if you walked by the creek water. This will make the climb up the steps and rocks more secure.

Climbing to Pai Plong beach from Ao Nang Beach

Climbing to Pai Plong beach from Ao Nang Beach

The required path to Pai Plong beach at Centara Hotel begins near the water’s edge near the end of the beach, where the rock is connected with the sea. In December 2014 wooden steps at the beginning of the trail were absent, ie, the first few meters you need to climb on the rocks. By the way, it is not particularly difficult: the stones are large and fairly flat and low height. Next, you will climb the wooden stairs. Climbing it takes no more than a couple of minutes, and does not take much effort. And if you have previously climbed the 1260 stair steps to the top of the mountain near the Temple Tiger Cave in Krabi (as I did), the local ladder and does seem like a cakewalk. I advise caution: staircase slightly battered by time and some boards a little unsteady. In addition, as can be seen in the photo above, there are gaps between the boards, so if you choose to visit the beach of Centara Hotel, better not use shoes with high heels.

The path to the Pai Plong beach near Hotel Centara

When you climb the stairs, you will take a short walk along a narrow path almost horizontally laid on a slope of rock. Due to the dense tropical vegetation, you will not be able to admire the sea from above, but for me personally, this path will still like it, especially in dry weather, when the clay underfoot turns into a hard and tough coating. Several spoils the view sometimes come across trash, because on the way no trash cans, and therefore some irresponsible campers just throw a pack of chips or empty bottles in the next few bushes.

Be careful when meeting on a footpath with wild monkeys, who are not afraid of people, but there are very aggressive, especially in the hands you have a package of food (bright and shiny bags and bottles). Keep it all stronger, or will pull out of the hands without a twinge of conscience. Wonderful views begin to open already on the way to the stairs on the back side of the rock, that on the way down to the Pai Plong beach. With good weather, solar water lapped at the beach gets amazing emerald color, which in combination with the green vegetation and the coastal cliffs makes the landscape is truly beautiful.

Descend the stairs to the beach Centara. Dangerous overhang - be careful!

Descend the stairs to the beach Centara. Dangerous overhang – be careful!

Stairs to the beach near Centara Hotel is in a good condition, but you need get down still careful. Somewhere in the middle of the descent ladder makes a turn just below the ledge, and if you’re a little taller than average, and look only at the ground, but you can accidentally hit your head on a rock, it would be very unpleasant. The photo above shows just the projection, but in reality it is even more hanging over the staircase. Hotel Centar occupies a large area, which is now enclosed by a metal fence, which started up on electricity. I suspect that this is done in order to scare away wild monkeys, and there is not 220 Volt, but be careful when leaving the beach in any case.

Centara Beach Hotel - Pai Plong beach in Ao Nang

Centara Beach Hotel – Pai Plong beach in Ao Nang

Earlier, guards Centar hotel in a special journal making the registration of all visitors to the beach. Now, however, this practice has been abolished or completely, or they was simply too lazy to break away from the chair for register me. Perhaps my attempt to get from the beach to the territory of the hotel would be forced to raise them, but I did not do it :). The beach Pai Plong is not very long, but a small number of tourists allows, if desired, to enjoy the local beauty in relative solitude. All beach pictures were taken in the morning, when the sun was slightly overcast with light clouds, so they do not convey the true beauty of the place with bright sunny weather.

Pontoon pier at Centara Hotel beach in Ao Nang

At the far end of the beach is now built a pontoon pier stretching far out to sea. Next to it you can rent a kayak or sign up for surfing school and start learning by trying to hold out as long as possible on the surfboards. Prices based on proximity is not a budget hotel relevant, ie higher than elsewhere in the resort of Ao Nang. Also directly from the pier you can enjoy fish or swim in the nearest rock snorkeling. From the pier offer a good view to the original form of rock sticking out of the water, as well as the entire beach and bungalows scattered on the shore of Centara Hotel.

Sunbeds and umbrellas are not provided for beach goers. Therefore, going to sunbathe here, it is better to take with individual mats which are sold in Ao Nang everywhere and are quite inexpensive. By the way, they will be useful to you and when you visit other resort beaches, because the situation there is similar with sun beds with the exception of some places in hotels. Swim nice: beach quite shallow, clear water, fine sand, without debris. As shown in the last photograph taken at 12-30 local time, people on the beach quite a bit. I am visiting the beach alone, sometimes had to wait for 10-15 minutes, when near me will take place at least someone who can take a picture of me in a certain place (I do not like the selfie, as well as to disturb those resting peacefully, lying on sand under the warm Thai sun).

As I wrote in the general article “Ao Nang Resort: location, beaches, entertainment,” you can buy eat and drink on the Pai Plong beach only in Centara hotel, where the prices of all food and drinks much too high. Therefore it is better to seize the fruit, drinks and snacks with you, acquiring all in street stalls and shops of Ao Nang: 7Eleven and Family Mart. Return to Ao Nang is made on the same path in reverse. This review of Pai Plong beach is complete. Also you can see small video review of Pai Plong beach in Ao Nang (beach of Centara Hotel). At first glance, a ticket on the flight Koh Samui – Krabi or Krabi – Koh Samui is the simplest and most logical option, as in Krabi and Koh Samui, you can find a small, but quite modern own airport with good transport accessibility. Also this option is the most simple due to the fact that in contrast to the Krabi Province, most of resorts of which is still located on the mainland (including the city Krabi town and some of the popular resorts of Krabi province), Koh Samui is still an island, so logical to assume that only allows you to make the necessary flight distance using only one kind of transportation – airplane.

However in real practice, air travel between Koh Samui and Krabi do not enjoy high popularity tourists, no locals. If you will use placed below the search form flight at the best price, you can see for themselves that the cost of airfare Koh Samui – Krabi unreasonably high for such a small distance and is, at best, about $ 100 one way. It should be borne in mind that only one flight is accomplished in a day, and not throughout the year, but only during the high tourist season.

Therefore, it is possible to encounter a situation where you will be offered a flight with a long transfer in Bangkok (sometimes more than 12 hours), which makes a way to get from Krabi to Koh Samui or back at all meaningless, even if you have budget more big  than average traveler’s budget (option with a change in Bangkok is worth  more than the direct flight is about three times and even more).

In the article “Koh Samui Airport: a detailed review” I wrote that the main reason for the high cost of tickets  – is Bangkok Airways airline a monopoly on flights to Samui airport, which is a privately owned airline. Perhaps the ongoing construction of a new state airport on Samui, sooner or later the situation will improve in this matter, and fly from Krabi to Koh Samui and Koh Samui to Krabi Airport, one day we will not only quickly (less than an hour), but also inexpensive.

Aircraft Bangkok Air - a quick but expensive way to get from Koh Samui to Krabi

Aircraft Bangkok Air – a quick but expensive way to get from Koh Samui to Krabi

From Koh Samui to Krabi and back by intercity bus

Since Koh Samui – is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, the way to get to Krabi necessarily involves the use of big (passenger and cargo) ferry to Koh Samui one of the local ferry companies. This variant of overcoming the distance between Krabi and Koh Samui today is not the most affordable (ticket price 500 baht) and, moreover, can not boast of a record speed. Bus travel between these resorts a little – once or twice a day depending on the time of year.

The advantages for some can be attributed only to the fact that most of the way it will be possible to overcome the big tour bus, where you can recline your seat and take a nap a few hours, and your oversized baggage will be placed not on the lap or in the legs, as it is sometimes necessary to do for travel on thai minibus, but in bulk luggage compartment. A major shortcoming of buses is not too good of their schedule. For example, riding a bus from Krabi Bus Station at 11.30 am on the island of Koh Samui you’ll get only after six hours.

Intercity bus from Koh Samui to Krabi and back

Intercity bus from Koh Samui to Krabi and back

This means that, firstly, almost the entire day of rest will be spent on the road (although if you try it in the morning for a quick swim, you can succeed in Ao Nang), and secondly, to the island of Koh Samui your bus arrives almost to the beginning of twilight. But at this time, all route songthaew on Koh Samui – is no longer a relatively cheap way to travel between the island’s beaches and its administrative center.  After sunset this already not cheap transport, but transport with a contractual price (same expensive taxi). You can find more information in the article “Public transport in Samui: routes and prices”.

Search for a hotel on the island in the dark is also not a pleasant occupation, of course, if you do not take care about it in advance and did not find himself a cool hotel at minimal cost by using below the search form and hotel price comparisons in the same room in different systems booking. The second bus from Krabi to Koh Samui generally uses a night ferry to the island, therefore in the way  to Koh Samui you need to be more than 12 hours. With the latter option, you can save on one night in a hotel, but personally I’d rather sleep on the beach of Koh Samui, than in a chair of night ferry.

There is also the option of using no direct buses, but bus routes with a transfer, for example, in Surat Thani. In this case, the total price of the route Koh Samui – Krabi will be calculated as the cost of the ferry between Koh Samui and the mainland (150 baht), the cost of transfer from mainland pier to the bus station Surat Thani (70 km, or from 150 to 200 baht), as well as a bus or Mini Bus from Suratthani to Krabi (150-170 baht respectively). Total obtain at least 450 baht, but it is better to calculate the amount of not less than 500 baht. Make this way (or reverse route Krabi – Koh Samui) in general, not too hard, but in a situation where there is a more convenient, described below is an option, I would not :).

Transfer from Koh Samui  to Krabi (or Krabi – Koh Samui) – the best option!

To date, one of the most convenient options that allow fast and high quality service, is accessible from Koh Samui to Krabi in the opposite direction – the use of an organized transfer, which is a trip on a comfortable Mini Bus by land and overcome the offshore section of the way by speedboat or ferry.

When you are on Koh Samui, it is easier and cheaper to contact the office of one of the ferry companies. This is due to the fact that this companies do not only carry out passenger transportation between the mainland, the island of Koh Samui and the other islands in the region, but also organize full transfers from Koh Samui to other resorts, including Phuket, Krabi, on the of Phi Phi  islands and Ko Lanta . The cost of a transfer from ferry companies is often the lowest, but it is not their most important advantage over other companies, which also offers a shuttle service between Koh Samui and Krabi.

Modern transfer bus of Lomprayah company

Modern transfer bus of Lomprayah company

Option to transfer the ferry companies, such as Lomprayah, allows you to quickly get to your destination with a minimum of transport changes. Often it is not just the way to Koh Samui pier to the bus station, but the full path from the door of the hotel in Koh Samui to the door of the hotel in Krabi or Ao Nang. Those. ultimately this is a very convenient and efficient for the money option. The cost of such a full transfer in 2015 is 400-450 thai baht for use on the offshore section of the way conventional ferry and between 550 baht to 600 when using high-speed boats.

In the case of transfer in the reverse direction, i.e. when you need to get from Krabi to Koh Samui, often have to resort to intermediaries and to pay, though quite a bit ($ 2-3). To avoid such overpayment is also possible, but for this you should at least not be afraid to speak English (thai english) on the phone with the ferry companies on Samui, which will need to explain what day you want to make a way, at what time and from which the hotel you will need to pick up.

If you do not want to talk on the phone, you can simply go to any tourist information office in Ao Nang or to the seller excursions on the street. Overpayments will be, as I have already said a little, but it is desirable to specify initially all the conditions and choose the options that transfer will provide again the company Lomprayah or transport company in the region with a good reputation under the name Joint Ticket (transfer of 450 Baht per Mini Bus + ferry or 600 THB + Mini Bus speed boat).

Comfortable speedy catamaran of Lomprayah company

Comfortable speedy catamaran of Lomprayah company

When choosing a trip to Koh Samui or Krabi, always remember that to be ready for the trip you will need about an hour before mentioned in the brochure departure time. This is due to the fact that the local Mini Bus takes some time for a detour hotels and collect all the passengers. As a rule, this will remind you of the time of purchase the transfer. For example, paying shuttle Ao Nang – Koh Samui with departure at 11 am, for you zaedut by 10:30 to take a small private bus station in the area of Krabi Town.

Sometimes on the streets of resorts (as in Koh Samui and Krabi) you can find more attractive offers in terms of cost of transfers between these resorts. You not must think that it is fraudsters. But there are some unpleasant nuances that may be encountered: a long crossing, repeated change of transport in transit and the possibility of landing in the wrong place on arrival, where have to go on an expensive taxi to the hotel. If you are not too scary, you can save money and take the risk, but it is advisable to look for a pre least some information about the carrier in internet.

I personally have had the experience. when I wanted to get from Koh Samui to Krabi and used the services of local companies the transfer. As a result, I was taken to the bus station Krabi only late in the evening. After 8 hours on the road. In a way it was a lot of transplants, about an hour I spent at the bus station in Surat Thani and about 5 kilometers, I was forced to go to an open pick-up truck on the floor, along with backpacks and other travelers. The bus was old and broke down several times on the road. On the other hand, it was fun and unusual! 🙂

Taxi transfer Krabi – Koh Samui and back

Another option, which allows you to quickly get from Krabi to Koh Samui or to make the return journey – the use of a taxi transfer from the Kiwitaxi. Of course, this option is not the cheapest, but in some situations it is ideal for travelers. The fare on the modern car taxi between the resorts can be found at the link above. It is important to understand that unlike the flight ticket, several people (four or more) can be accommodated in the vehicle. This means that the price for each transfer of the passengers will be very attractive.

And if you add the travel speed, comfort, the ability to choose the car class, install child seats, card payment, etc., the option at all remarkable. If you want to get from Krabi to Koh Samui, I advise you to book a taxi transfer from Krabi only to the Donsak pier. Because makes no sense to overpay for the car will go to the island with you, and then will come back (at your expense).I wish you a quick and comfortable travel from Koh Samui to Krabi, and no less pleasant transfers, allowing quick and inexpensive to get from Krabi to Koh Samui!

railay-west-beach-big-review-of-amazing-beachRailay West Beach (Krabi) – a great place for relaxing during the day, as well as for a longer holiday on the peninsula Railay. It is this wide beach of soft white sand and almost surrounded by cliffs and tropical greenery is often depicted in the tourist brochures, Krabi and on many souvenir postcards of Thailand. Despite the fact that the nearby beach Pranang (separated from Railay West high rock) is considered to be even more spectacular, in my opinion Railey West Beach also deserves attention and has many advantages. The review posted below – a detailed description of the beach Railay West with photos and video fragments that are made at different times of the day.

How to get to Railay West Beach (Krabi)

Overland route from the mainland to the peninsula of Railay (to all of the beaches) is not. So to get to the beach Railay West you have to use the main vehicle for such purposes in Krabi – longtail boat. The easiest way to do this / when you are in the resort of Ao Nang. Because almost all of boats that sail from the beaches of the resort village Ao Nang to arrive directly to Railay West. Also to this beach arriving boats, which departing from the neighboring mainland resorts: Klong Muang and Tab Kaek. By purchasing tickets in Ao Nang, you have the opportunity to purchase them at once both ways. Below on the photo presented two tickets for 100 THB, which operate on the specified day to 18:00 pm (after this time the price rises to 150 thai baht).

Tickets for the boat from Ao Nang to Railay West and back

Boat goes to the Railay West beach only after the formation of the group of the required number of passengers (at least eight) on the beach. Then the boatman goes along with the passengers to the longtail boat on the coast and there is produced landing on board. Please note that in the center of Ao Nang beach no pier, so you need a little soak your feet after a few meters to the boats on the water. After boarding begins not very long, but very interesting trip, which takes about 12-15 minutes. Along the way, you can see a scenic cliffs, sometimes covered with tropical greenery and two lagoons, which are located in the beach Pai Plong (beach of hotel Centara) in Ao Nang, and a beautiful lagoon, which already located directly on the Railay peninsula (Tonsai beach).

After about 15 minutes, long-tailed boat stops on the fine sand beach of Railay West, and again after little soak your feet, you will find yourself on the spot, and you can enjoy your holiday, after search the optimal place for this on the beach (more on that below). Slightly more complicated way to the beach Railey West, if you need to get to it from Krabi. In this case, the ticket price in one direction is 150 baht in the daytime, and the boat is approaching the opposite side of the peninsula Railay –  Railay East beach. Afraid it is not necessary, because the walking tour between the beaches takes about five minutes. Beaches are almost parallel to each other, so you need just cross the “land.” By the way, for better orientation on the resort will not be superfluous to look your way on the best maps of Railay (Krabi), a selection of which is available on a separate page.

Pointers to the best way between Railay East beach and Railay West beach

Pointers to the best way between Railay East beach and Railay West beach

It is desirable to follow the signs for the trail between the beaches, then the road will be not only the fastest, but also enjoyable. Because you will go along the beautiful areas of luxury hotels Peninsula. Signs can be found in several places when you walking along the eastern beach of the promenade. You can also ask any employee’s  of tour desk or a coffee shop, and they will point you the right way. You must remember that straight road to the Pranang beach from neighboring West Railay is not exist (only detour through East Railay). Also road (or rather rocky trail) from Railay beach to Tonsai Beach is described in detail in the article “Big review of Tonsai Beach (Railay, Krabi),” so then duplicate the information here is not I will.

Review of Railay West beach (Krabi)

West Railay Beach (Railey West) is surrounded by limestone cliffs, which are a result of centuries of erosion and the impact of sea waves have a very bizarre form. Peninsula Railay is located in the tropics, so all the more or less horizontal ledges on the cliffs and peaks covered with bright tropical greenery. Particularly picturesque two two hundred meter cliff, located in the northern and southern ends of the beach and serving a natural border between the Railey West and adjacent beaches.

The majestic cliff between the Railay West beach and Phra Nang beach

West Railay Beach has the largest length on the peninsula, and it is wide beach with soft white sands are a favorite subject of recreation for many tourists Krabi. On the Internet you can find information that the Railay West beach is the most crowded beach on the resort. In reality, the situation is somewhat different: in the daytime vacationers here is much smaller than the nearby Pranang beach. But the width of the Railay West is much wider than the width of the strip of sand on most of Phra Nang beach, so the concentration of tourists here there is even smaller.

But in the evening, a few hours before sunset, Railay West beach becomes a favorite place for outdoor enthusiasts. The wide and gently sloping sandy strip of beach, especially at low tide, perfect for a game of beach volleyball and football. It is also very common local game called “Takro”. Its essence is to toss without hands special wicker ball. The fact that Railey West beach faces west, allows us to observe from its territory magnificent sunsets over the sea.

Since most of the guests to relax on a rest day at this point already leaving the peninsula and there is more peace and quiet than during the day. Of course, to see the tropical sunset on a Railay West beach will need to donate a small amount of money, because after dark, or rather even a little earlier – from 18-00 pm, ticket price on the boat from peninsula to Krabi and Ao Nang increases 1.5 times. As an alternative – you can stay at a hotel in Railay (not necessarily on Railay West), because then you will have the opportunity to see also sunrise on the peninsula, which can be seen on the eastern beach (Railay East).

Place for longtail boats in the central part of the Railay West beach

Place for longtail boats in the central part of the Railay West beach

West Railay Beach is beautiful in its every part. Steep cliffs in the south, which in the morning casts a shadow on the beach and some water area; tropical greens and coconut trees, as well as some beautiful long-tailed boats, decorated with flowers and colorful ribbons in the central part of the beach; jumble of black boulders from a high cliff in the northern part of Railay West, where begins the rocky path to the nearby beach of Ton Sai (Tonsai)

Swim at the Railay West beach is convenient for both adults and children, because entry into the water on the soft sand flat, and the depth starts at some distance from the shore. Probably the best place for families with young children – the southern tip of the beach, where the sea is the most shallow, especially at low tide. Personally, I prefer the northern end of the beach, where the entrance to the water a little sharper, making a comfortable depth for swimming closer to shore there. In the central part of the beach is convenient to sunbathe, but to swim because of the many boats (and the sound of their engines) some uncomfortable. Sunbeds and umbrellas on Railey West is not provided (only a small amount on the territory of the coastal hotels).

In my opinion it is even better, because the rows of plastic deck chairs would violate the natural charm of the place. Therefore, if you planning to spend much time in the sun on the beach railay West (or on other beaches of the peninsula) – you can pre-buy in Ao Nang (or directly on Railay beach, but slightly more expensive) special beach mats. They are sold everywhere and are inexpensive. As elsewhere, you can sunbathe on the your towel. A lot of people on the resort, who prefer to lie down right on the soft sand, close to the water’s edge when slowly roll to the shore the waves caress the body. Just do not forget how to sunbathe properly in Thailand and be sure to use sunscreen.

Hotels, located on the beach Railey West, relate to secondary and higher price categories, but it is really a very nice hotel that worth the money and left many pleasant memories, especially if you are traveling with someone you love and want to please him (and yourself) rest not only in a prime location, but really in a comfortable environment. If you travel on a tight budget, this is not a reason to be upset, because there on the peninsula you can easy find much more cheap options (which are located primarily on the east coast of Railay).

Walking Street on the Railay West beach

Walking Street on the Railay West beach

In the article “What to do on the Railay peninsula (Krabi)” already describes the main activities, which are available in varying degrees on the beaches of the peninsula and in its central part. If we talk about Railay West, for active life in the center there is a small Walking Street, which starts right in the middle of Railey West. Here are concentrated a large number of travel agencies that organize trips to the islands and to the mainland Krabi attractions, diving, bike tours, horse and elephant.

On the Railay West beach you can find a considerable number of bars, restaurants, souvenir shops, and shops for tourists, where you can buy the most necessary things on vacation. Also of of this is enough and on a nearby beach Railay East, so you can learn the prices and choose the best option for themselves. The active nightlife of the peninsula is more developed in the Railay East beach, so after sunset many people massively going there. But order a glass of cold Thai beer and sitting on the sand beach, watching as the disk of the sun turns red and quickly slips over the horizon, is certainly better on the Railey West beach. Below you can see a short video from the Railay West beach (at different times).

The beach is a popular destination for climbing enthusiasts, but to visit it visit it have the opportunity to everyone who decided to relax on Railey peninsula during the day or staying there for a longer period in one of the local hotels. This review describes the features of Tonsai Beach, the best places for swimming, as well as ways to get to this beach. For greater clarity in this review you will find many photos taken along the way to the Tonsai beach, as well as photos and short video directly from this amazing Tonsai beach on the Railay peninsula (also it is often called Railey) in Krabi province (Thailand).

For the convenience of description, hereinafter I will call the “southern” part of Tonsai Beach, located close to the beach West Raleigh, and “northern” the opposite end of the beach, which is fenced off high vertical cliff from the Pai Plong beach in Ao Nang. Like all the other beaches of the peninsula Railey, Ton Sai beach is cut off from the mainland inaccessible vertical cliffs, which reach heights of 200 meters. This means that you can visit to this beach only with using the main local transport – long-tailed boats.

Longtail boats from Ao Nang beach near West Railay

Longtail boats from Ao Nang beach near West Railay

How to get to Ton Sai Beach

The easiest way – to buy a ticket for the boat directly at the kiosk for the sale of tickets for the boats in Ao Nang. From 8:00 am to 18:00 and a ticket will cost 100 baht chelovka, in the rest of the time – 150 baht. The boat leaves in the presence of at least 8 passengers. Tickets from Ao Nang resort to Thon Sai beach can only be purchased only in one direction. And if you do not want to waste time, yet typed the right number of passengers, you can pay the remaining amount of the boatman (800 baht) to sail immediately. Since all guests in Ao Nang more popular option in which for Tonsai beach allotted a whole day, but only part of it, I’ll tell you how to get to the beach from the other beaches of the peninsula Railey.

Tonsai Beach (Peninsula Railay) - view from the sea

Tonsai Beach (Peninsula Railay) – view from the sea

If you read the article “Railay Peninsula (Krabi) – overview of resort”, then you already know that most of long-tailed boats arrive at the beach East Raiilay (from Krabi) and West Railay (from Ao Nang), so in the article below will explain how get to Tonsai after you have arrived at the peninsula Railay. The easiest option when you got on the longtail boat from Ao Nang. Directly on the Railay West beach you can negotiate with the boatman that he will take you to Tonsai beach for 50 baht per person. True passengers must be at least four, or do you have to be willing to pay 200 baht for the whole boat and go immediately.

I must say that the second option is more realistic, since a large number of those wishing to go on a boat on the beach of Ton Sai is usually no. To get from the East Railay beach to Ton Sai Beach, you can use one of the shady forest trail, which begins in the northern part of East Railey beach. This way is not very difficult, but you need walk about half an hour. In my opinion, much more interesting to get to the beach Ton Sai beach from the Railay West beach, using the pathway, which laid along the slope serving sea cliff between the beaches. But it is not all easy. The trail starts amongst large boulders at the northern end of the beach Railay West (when facing the sea, you need to go to the right). The main problem that may be encountered in this case – in the tide will have to do part of the way through the water, avoiding large boulders dark-colored rocks.

However, if you rest in Krabi not in the rainy season in Thailand, the big waves should not be and the path is safe. During the low tide to the trail can be reached by land, or just do a bit of soaking feet. In the photos posted above (view of the rock from the sea), it may seem that a very small distance between the beaches, a few tens of meters (in reality, between the beaches of 150 meters straight). However, a rocky trail, which begins not at the beginning, but only about the middle of overgrown green cape, is slightly longer than it seems at first glance. First of all, due to the fact that this is not a smooth path, and the alternation of ascents and descents.

The rise of the path between the beaches of Tonsai and Railay West

The rise of the path between the beaches of Tonsai and Railay West

When traveling on this path often have to jump from a stone on stone, to hold on to the branches of trees or ropes strung between the trunks of trees. During dry weather, this trail is pretty easy and safe, so you can make this way without problem. But after the rain clay under the feet can be dangerous and it is better to use caution when traveling and use shoes with a good fixation of the foot, not to slip and avoid bruises and sprains. The trail is fairly narrow, and sometimes you have to wait until the people walking along the trail in the opposite direction, finished the rise or descent and release you the way.

But overall, a walk along the path between the beaches does not take a lot of effort, so even kids without too much difficulty to cope with it. I took the road less than five minutes, but I love to overcome the obstacles encountered on the pathway at a high enough rate. Closer to the beach of Ton Sai, path does a fairly long section without any height differences, which is quite picturesque and personally I cause visual associations with canyons. By the way, at the end of the trail, when you have almost reach the beach of Ton Sai, you can little bit  lost right direction, because the trail is slightly forked and you can turn not to the right place. At one point, I even wanted to jump down from a height of 2-3 meters, but logic told me that the children whom I met a little earlier, would not be able to get here and I can find another, easier way. This path was soon found: at the end of the road to Ton Sai, you need to stay close to the sea, rather than a high cliff.

Review of Tonsai beach (Railay)

To descend to the sand beach of Ton Sai, a total length of about 600 meters, you need to use a small wooden stair. However, up to this point you have the opportunity to admire from the height to the Tonsai beach and make beautiful pictures or selfie on his background. Kind is very picturesque (see photo below). In the foreground – the southern part of Tonsai beach. Location is very good for swimming near the rocks can be seen colorful fish. Just as you can see in the picture, due to the cliff and the lack of life-giving vegetation, this beach almost without  shadow. Therefore if you will be stay here  without use of a protective cream from the sun, you can quickly burn your skin.

So do not forget to use the tips described in the article “How to sunbathe in Thailand correctly“, or you can try to hide in the small shadow that in some places it is still possible to find if arriving at the beach early and if you first can take this place, because wanting to do this, despite the unfrequented beach, still a lot. Good for swimming and beach area of Ton Sai, located in a place where the waters of the Andaman Sea directly suited to the rock, which is due to several years of exposure to waves hangs over a thin strip of sand. Rocks have a lot of projections on which you can hang up your beach bag or t-shirt.

Some parts of this cliff, especially closer to the central part of Tonsai Beach, designed for climbing. On the surface you can see special routes of varying degrees of complexity and have special brackets for the climbing equipment.  Also, after going a little further you can notice that on this rock, on the border with the central part of Ton Sai beach (Tonsai beach) has a special staircase leading to the observation deck. It is located not very high, but a visit to see the beach from a height it is worth, if you want.

Tonsai Beach (Railay) - a small bungalow in the central part of the rock

Tonsai Beach (Railay) – a small bungalow in the central part of the rock

In the central part on the first beach line, there are several hotels, bars and massage parlors under the eaves. Log into the water as every where on this beach, very flat, under the feet of fine sand and the water is clear and has a beautiful green color. Not far from the big rock in the center of the beach I saw in the water a small shark light color (about half a meter long). The advantage of this part of the beach Tonsai is the presence of a large number of trees and large shrubs along the shoreline, in the shade of which it is convenient to hide from the sun. There are interesting trees with buds (or fruit) similar to pineapple, which when ripe become red-orange (see. Photo below). Surely everyone knows that pineapples grow on the ground, like cabbage, but the wild pineapple, or Pandanus grows directly on such trees.

A special attraction of the Tonsai beach gives is located in the central part of the plantation of high coconut trees, which in late 2014 had been thoroughly cleaned of other shrubs. On the Internet you can find information according to which the entire central part of the beach is occupied by numerous cafes, bars and inexpensive bungalows. The same sort of confirms and beach map, located on the banks (see. Photo below). But in reality, the beach seemed somehow abandoned, as though there still has not eliminated the consequences of the devastating tsunami.

In some places there are dilapidated buildings, visible foundations of buildings, which once stood on the first line. Here and there are already visible reconstruction work, has several cafes, but heaps of building rubble and shrubs (which in my locals gradually burning) do not add a special attraction. Perhaps if the investment in the development of the beach will continue, all the beach infrastructure will be restored and will be better than it was before, but at the end of 2015 the coastal infrastructure leaves much to be desired.

Somewhat better situation, if you go deep into the beach, along the pathways  through the palm grove. There currently can be found and a climbing school, and rent all the necessary equipment for this activity, as well as to find a cafe, bars, massage parlors, mini-market and a lot of options for affordable housing. From the sea and the photos may seem that the distance from the coast to the cliffs, limiting the beach area in depth, very little. In fact there is enough space for all the buildings, there are even a few streets.

The main contingent of Tonsai beach – European youth and some of the locals that serve as attendants. Judging by the state of many buildings, in low season Tonsai beach leave some of their respective owners. A little further from the central part of the Tonsai beach starts place for parking longtail boats  which are fixed on the shore with the help of anchors in the beach sand. When you walk along the water’s edge, you need be careful,  because the boat rocking on the waves, periodically pull the ropes to the anchors, lifting them above the sand. As a result, you can trip on the rope and fall, looking at the beautiful rocks and palm trees.

General view of the Tonsai beach (Railay) on the north side

General view of the Tonsai beach (Railay) on the north side

The northern part of Tonsai Beach is unsuitable for swimming. Firstly, because a lot of boats in the water and on the shore, some of which will never be launched. There are you can find a place for longtail boats repairs:  locals make a repairing old engines, straighten shafts and repair screws. Secondly, on the shore and in the water there are many large stones. Third, because of the high cliffs here in the afternoon shade so swimming is not very interesting. Finally, water at this location less transparent than other parts of the beach.

Tonsai Beach (Railay). Zone in the northern part of the beach in the shadow of the rocks

Tonsai Beach (Railay). Zone in the northern part of the beach in the shadow of the rocks

Thus, Tonsai beach on the peninsula of Railay in Krabi Province it is quite a quiet place where you can relax both during the day and stay for a longer period of time. The second option is more suitable for those who are not too picky about the comfort, can do without the shops, cafés with a wide selection of European dishes, who are young in body and soul, ready to be content with a small amount of entertainment (rock climbing, swimming and kayaking).

It is also desirable to know the English language, or to communicate with the majority of local residents will be difficult. It should be remembered that with the exchange of money for Tonsai beach can be difficult, so it is best to take care of it in advance. Mobile internet is operating within normal mode (I used the operator DTAC). And another fact: at this beach at times there are large low tides (there is information that this occurs within 10 days of each lunar month). At this time, less picturesque beach, as the water goes far into the sea and swim due to the shallow depth is not very comfortable with.

I hope this review of Tonsai Beach (Ton Sai beach) gave you some idea about it and you can make the right decision about whether to spend time on it. My conclusion – at least once a visit is necessary. Enjoy your thai vacation!!!

Krabi International Airport is a main air gate to the province of Thailand with the same name, located in the southern part of the country on the coast of the Andaman Sea. The importance of Krabi Airport in domestic and international flights of Thailand is growing every year, as evidenced by the increase in passenger traffic and the increase in the number of flights. The article provides an overview of Krabi airport: general information, location, description of terminals, directions and other useful information for planning your travels. Also you will find information about the cost of a taxi from Krabi Airport, car rental at this airport and public buses, which you can use for reach the main resorts of the province.

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( you can click on the link for quick transition)

Krabi airport – general information

The airport in Krabi, officially called Krabi International Airport, is located 7 km east of Krabi town, which is the center of the province with the same name. International codes of Krabi airport: KBV (IATA classification) and VTSG (ICAO classification). Coordinates of the airport: latitude (8.1); Longitude (98.99). The airport in Krabi province is the main air gateway to such popular resorts of Thailand on the Andaman Sea as Ao Nang, Railay (or Ralley) and Had Yao. In addition, those flying to Krabi airport can get to the Phi Phi islands , Koh Lanta and the largest in the country island of Phuket (although it also has its own airport).

Inside a not very big, but modern Krabi airport

In 2006, a new modern terminal was opened in Krabi airport, which has four floors, and in the plan it resembles an airplane with slightly “cut off wings” (noticeably in the below-shown diagrams of Krabi airport). The new terminal is divided into two zones: for domestic flights and international flights. Simultaneously, the new terminal can accommodate up to 1200 passengers (600 arriving and 600 departing from Krabi). Simultaneously with the construction of the new terminal building, out at Krabi airport was carried the reconstruction of the runway, the length of which was increased and now slightly exceeds 3 km (if be accurate, it 3002 meters). The cost of reconstruction of the airport cost more than 740 million Thai baht ($ 23 million).

Scheme of Krabi airport (Thailand)

On the ground floor of Krabi airport you can find a luggage transporters, a customs clearance area and a common hall where you can make currency exchange for Thai money, buy souvenirs and products in small shops, take cards or get the information you need in the information desk, book a hotel, book a taxi Or buy tickets for a bus. There is also a medical center, several cafes, offices of car rental companies and the main exit to the street.

The second and third floors of Krabi Airport are occupied by arrival and departure halls respectively. On the second floor in the arrivals area is the office of the Immigration Service of Thailand and passport control (when leaving the arrivals hall of international flights). There is no exit to the street on the second floor, therefore, to leave the airport after the arrival, you need to go down the escalator to the first floor and, having received the luggage (if any), through the customs control to go out into the street.

Scheme of Krabi Airport with a legend

On the third floor there are check-in desks for departure flights, a tourist information office, a customs clearance area and two waiting rooms: for domestic flights (on the left) and for international flights (on the right). To get to the last, it is necessary to pass through the passport control posts. On the fourth floor of Krabi airport there are only technical rooms, airline representative offices, VIP lounge for passengers and catering establishments. To exit the airport from the fourth floor, you need to go down the escalator to the third.

Carriers and flights in Krabi airport

Until recently, the geography of flights from Krabi International Airport was limited to several domestic flights (to Bangkok, Samui and Chiang Mai), as well as to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Singapore. Therefore, airlines that had the opportunity to fly to this airport were few. However, to date, their number has increased significantly, although in the lead in the number of flights, like many years in a row, Thai airline Bangkok Airways and several local low-cost airlines (for example, AirAsia (along with its subsidiary Thai Air Asia).

Krabi Airport Live Flight Status ( Departures and Arrivals)

Relatively modest against the background of the two above-mentioned airlines look Thai airlines Thai Airways (together with a subsidiary airline – Thai Smile) and Nok Air, which perform only a few flights a day. In connection with the opening of new destinations in China (the need to somehow deliver to the resort of numerous Chinese tourists), Chinese airlines Shanghai Airlines (flights to Zhengzhou) and Sichuan Airlines (flights to Chengdu) are allowed to fly to Krabi airport. Flights to Singapore by the local airline Tiger Air.

I will not describe in detail all flights from Krabi airport (KBV), because the schedule varies periodically, and the flights themselves can be added or excluded depending on the specific day and tourist season. From the Krabi Airport Live Flight Status (posted above) you can see what flights and where are performed on the current day. The shortest flights from Krabi to Bangkok or the capital of Malaysia are Kuala Lumpur. Only in the situation with Bangkok should remember that some airlines fly to Suvarnabhumi airport, and others – to Don Muang Airport in Bangkok.

Aircraft of low cost airlines at the Krabi Airport (Thailand)

Also you can see in the table a lot of flights to/from Krab, which make the world famous airlines from Asia, Australia, the Gulf countries, and Europe. In reality, almost 100% of such flights between Krabi and Bangkok are performed by the Thai airline Bangkok Airlines. I draw your attention: at the top of the table you can switch between arriving flights and departing flights. Number of flights on the route of interest to you and the best prices for flights from or to Krabi airport can always be seen by using the best service to find air tickets and compare prices for them in various agencies, the form of which is placed in the sidebar of this site.

Rent a car at Krabi Airport – benefits

In the province of Krabi, wide roads with good coverage, and there are no problems with car traffic jams, which is why many tourists prefer to rent a car and not to experience any transport problems during the rest. Moreover, a taxi at Krabi airport and in general at the resorts of this province is not cheap. Rent a car is best right at the airport, where there are several international companies that provide rent cars. You can find them in the arrivals area of Krabi Airport (both international and domestic terminals). To get acquainted with the terms of rent, cost, fleet and book a car you like in advance online is the easiest way with the help of an international broker Rentalcars (link to the English version).

To book a car through a broker is cheaper than directly on the branded sites of the companies represented at the airport – Avis, Budget and National. In just one minute you have the opportunity to check the availability of cars of different classes at all rental locations. You can immediately compare the cost of the same car in different rental offices and rental conditions (insurance, franchise, document requirements, discount for the duration of the lease, etc.). Finally, a very important advantage of renting a car through this broker is the possibility of signing a contract in English (or, if desired, in other popular languages of the world). More information on the benefits and procedure for renting cars through the Internet you can read on the page “Car rental Phuket – fares, advices, best places.” As in Phuket, renting a car right at the airport in Krabi allows you to save on a taxi.

[ad#trans]

I also note that Krabi airport is located near the highway number 4 of state importance, to which roads of local importance adjoin. Those. Leaving from the parking lot of the airport, you have all the opportunities for a full study of the attractions of Krabi Province in Thailand. By the way, the roads in Krabi are very picturesque, because they are surrounded by high cliffs with green vegetation. Therefore, many travelers who rent a car at the airport of Krabi, stop periodically on the highway just to enjoy the magnificent view that has opened. Of course, when using public transport, this would be impossible. At the resorts of Krabi province you can find a great beaches, where it’s not at all disgraceful to spend a few days, as well as a lot of interesting sea excursions. Therefore, you can rent a car not for the entire rest period, but for a few days and use them for trips to hot springs, a blue lake, to the Tigris Cave temple, etc.

How to get from Krabi Airport to the popular resorts

Taxi from Krabi airport. The easiest, but most costly way to get to the city of Krabi or the resort town of Ao Nang (where there are ferry piers and piers for departing boats to the islands) is a taxi. When ordering a taxi at Krabi Airport you need to be prepared for the fact that the prices will be fixed, and the trip to the destination you need will have to be paid in advance. Taxis are paid inside the airport, in the booth on the first floor. After payment, you should pick up something like a travel ticket and, going out into the street, present it to the taxi driver who works on the basis of the Krabi airport license. The cost of the whole car to the city of Krabi is 350 THB, to the beaches of Ao Nang – 600 THB. The price is for the whole car, i.е. can be divided into all passengers.

If you travel together with a big company, you can pay not for a car, but for a minivan that costs more, but in terms of the number of passengers it can be cheaper. (You can see the price on the photo below). Many tourists complain, that in the Krabi airport they can not find ordinary independent taxis with a meter (taxi meter), which would have been much cheaper, because the distance in fact to Krabi Town and the beaches of Ao Nang are small. If you want to rent a taxi from Krabi Airport in advance (via the Internet), I recommend the international service KiwiTaxi. Especially if you want to get from Krabi Airport to other resorts of the country (for example, to Phuket or Koh Samui). In this case, you will know in advance the cost of the trip and the driver will meet you (with a sign with your name) in the arrivals area of Krabi Airport, as VIP.

Fares for a trip from Krabi airport (by taxi and minibus)

Bus from Krabi airport. If you do not want to spend money on a taxi, especially if you are traveling alone, you can use the public bus from Krabi Airport. This option is best for those travelers who are not in a hurry to get to their hotel (for example, if they arrived early in the morning and before settling into the room for several more hours) or for those who are ready to lose some time, but at the same time save money. White shuttle buses – the most budgetary option to get from Krabi airport to Krabi Town, as well as to the main resort on the coast of the province – Ao Nang. The fare on the official bus from Krabi Airport to Krabi Town is 90 THB (less than 3 USD), and to Ao Nang – for 150 THB (less than 5 USD).

The shortcomings of the bus service can be attributed only to the need for sometimes a long wait for their filling before departure, and also the fact that it is impossible to get by bus from the airport to all beaches on the coast. For example, before Tab Kayek and Klong Muang beaches can be reached from the airport only by taxi. On the other hand, you can get to Krabi or Ao Nang by bus, and there already take a taxi or mototaxi and this option will save a little. Another important shortcoming of buses is limited working hours. Therefore, if your plane arrives in Krabi late at night or early in the morning, you will have to use a taxi or wait a long time for the first morning bus. You can buy a bus ticket near the exit from the airport on the first floor, and usually you will be presented with a map of Krabi province containing useful information for recreation.

Public transport from Krabi Airport to the resorts of the province (fares)

Hotel’s transfer from Krabi Airport. Many big hotels offer this service in the process of booking rooms. In this case, already at the exit from the airport you will be greeted by a driver with a sign and will drive directly to the door of the hotel. The cost will usually be higher than the usual taxi, but in some cases, the option may be justified. If the hotel is located in the Railay peninsula area, then such a transfer will include not only the delivery to the beach in Ao Nang, but also a trip by long-tailed boat to Relley (there is no overland route there). The cost of the last option will be about 1200 baht, and at a later time or early in the morning – about 1500 baht. As you can see, this is not the most budgetary option, but, nevertheless, it is worthy of mention.

How to get to Krabi Airport from the popular resorts

In order to get to Krabi airport from the place of your rest, you can use the transfer from the hotel (the cost depends on its location), as well as take a taxi and local public transport. The average journey time from the center of Krabi to the airport by car is about 20 minutes, from Ao Nang – about half an hour, from Klong Muang – 45-50 minutes. Almost every hotel in the province can order a transfer to the airport on a minibus, which will cost significantly less, but may require additional time to visit into other hotels and collect all those who ordered the service.

There is also an opportunity to get to the airport on official buses described in the previous section, having reached preliminary to their main stops in the city center or on the beaches of Ao Nang. Since Krabi Airport is relatively small, and the number of daily flights is not too high, there is no particular need to arrive at the airport in advance. It is enough a couple of hours before the departure of the international flight and one hour for boarding a plane flying inside Thailand. But, of course, it’s better to be slightly cautious and spend an extra half an hour-hour at the airport than late for a flight due to a broken bus somewhere halfway.

White shuttle-bus from Krabi airport to Ao Nang resort

A good alternative to Krabi airport is the international airport of Phuket, which is located on the island of the same name, but about two hours drive by car from Krabi. The airport in question is considered for the reason that it currently accepts far more international regular flights and charters, including regular flights from Europe, Australia and America. Therefore, in some cases it is more profitable to fly to the island of Phuket, even if you want to relax in Krabi or Ao Nang, because cheaper air tickets can easily compensate for the cost of travel by transport to Krabi. And the KiwiTaxi service will take you quickly from Phuket airport to Krabi or Koh Samui at any time of the day. Have a nice trip and holiday in Thailand!

The main beach in Ao Nang, which has a similar name – Ao Nang beach – is located directly in the central part of the resort village and has a length of about 1400 meters (or almost 4600 feet). As a rule, it is from this beach that the first acquaintance with the Andaman Sea begins with after arrivals to the resort of holiday-makers. At the same time, the beach is not homogeneous and has some features and differences, knowledge of which will allow you to more consciously choose a place to stay at the resort and a place for beach holidays directly within Ao Nang. All useful information about Central beach in Ao Nang with photos and videos – in this article!

The entire main beach in Ao Nang can be divided into three large parts: southern, central and northern. This division is rather conditional and there are no visible boundaries, but at the same time this division allows us to describe in more detail each of the areas of this beach. Also I want to remind you that it is very easy to get to Ao Nang beach from the Krabi airport – you can ask more about this in the article Krabi Airport Guide – Review, Transfer, Flight Status.

Overview of the central part of Ao Nang beach

The central part of the Ao Nang beach is almost completely dedicated to the parking lot of long-tailed boats that carry travelers to the Railay Peninsula, to other beaches of the resort of Ao Nang and to the popular islands of the Krabi province. Also some organizers of sea excursions make landing and disembarkation of groups of tourists directly in the central part of Ao Nang beach. In the very near future a modern embankment with a beautiful walking  path in the shade of palms and other exotic trees will be built here. In early 2015, active work was carried out everywhere: curbs were installed, new tiles were laid, new steps were built to allow descent to the beach, etc. And in the same year, work on the improvement of this part of the beach was completed.

The central part of Ao Nang beach in the morning. Parking of long-tail boats

Due to the fact that almost the entire central area of the beach in Ao Nang is occupied by several dozen long-tailed boats, which during the whole daylight is quite actively moored and sail back, it is undesirable to swim in the central part of Ao Nang beach. Not only because of safety, but also because of the high level of noise from the motors of long-tailed boats and, again, because of their large number of), not too transparent water. The central part of the Ao Nang beach is more suitable for morning or evening walks along the sea, and also for meeting the sunset ashore if you live in Ao Nang and have not forgotten to come to the embankment around 6 pm.

Sunset on the beach of Ao Nang (in the central part)

In the central part of Ao Nang beach, to the left of the place where the central road of the village going from Krabi turns right and continues along the waterfront for a while, there are good Ao Nang hotels of medium and highest price category, and a lot of massage parlors under canopies with more High prices for services than the average for the resort. The path along the beach here is kept clean and was recently paved with sidewalk tiles (see photo below). For more information on what is located in the central beach area of Ao Nang (where to find affordable accommodation, where to eat, where to find inexpensive massage, it is beneficial to exchange money, have fun at night, etc.), you can get in a separate article “A short guide to the resort Ao Nang (Krabi) / The article is being prepared /

Central part of Ao Nang Beach – a new path nearby good hotels

Southern part of Ao Nang beach  – overview

More suitable for taking sunbathing and swimming is the southern part of Ao Nang beach. If you face the sea, then you need to move to the left. You can go either on the beach itself, along the boats at the water’s edge, and along the path along the beach, the beginning of which can be seen on the photo above. Walking along the boats, you should carefully look under your feet, so as not to catch on the numerous ropes with anchors coming from the boats and fixed in the sand on the beach. Walking along the beach along the embankment, you need to be prepared for the fact that the road all along the way will not be as good. Somewhere in the middle of the distance, instead of a well-maintained path, ordinary sand will begin. The path continues among the trees, and on the sides you can see small piles of garbage (behind the beach cafes) and several parkings for motobikes.

Ao Nang Beach – sandy path along the beach

Also this way to the southern part of Ao Nang beach you should not choose in that case, when you not love the increased attention to your person from the employees of massage parlors, cafes and restaurants. On the other hand, prices in cafes, especially where the paved path ends, are quite good, there are both traditional Thai dishes and dishes more familiar to foreigners. Prices for food and beverages are falling as you move away from expensive hotels. For example, many variants of pancakes can be purchased for 30 baht, which is very good for the Ao Nang resort, which in recent years is considered not very cheap (compared to other resorts in the country).

Cafe in the southern part of Ao Nang Beach. Cost of dishes (click to enlarge)

At the beginning of the southern part of Ao Nang beach, next to expensive hotels, there are a small number of sun loungers and umbrellas, however, over a longer stretch of beach all vacationers are forced to use their own mats that are sold everywhere in the resort, or lie on towels brought with them. Just want to reassure all those who know how to sunbathe in Thailand correctly and is afraid to burn skin: the advantage of Ao Nang beach is the presence of a lot of trees and bushes along the perimeter, in the shade of which you can wait out the period of the greatest daytime solar activity, although it is better to use a protective cream in any case.

View of Ao Nang beach (southern part) at noon

Vacationers are distributed on the beach fairly evenly, but closer to the southern tip of the people is still smaller, which is why this place in my opinion is most suitable for a calm and measured rest. Firstly, the noise from the engines of long-tailed boats here is slightly less, because they swim further from the shore. Secondly, there is practically no noise from land transport – cars do not drive there, and modern motobikes work quietly. Thirdly, it is in the southern tip of Ao Nang beach that there is a picturesque rock, which is pleasant to see as floating in the sea, or when you standing on the sand of Ao nang beach.

A steep rock in the southern edge of Ao Nang beach. View from the shore.

Unlike the central and northern parts of Ao Nang beach, the sea water here seemed to me the most transparent, and most importantly – the amount of silt at the bottom in this place is minimal, i.е. нis presence is almost imperceptible. If you already readed the article “Pai Plong beach in Ao Nang – big review”, you already know that at the end of Ao Nang beach a small river flows into the sea. In principle, the water in it is clear and clean, i.e. it does not seem like a sewage discharge, but I prefer to swim a little bit farther from it, about 50-100 meters. Especially when a high rock casts a shadow and the water next to the rock seems less picturesque than under direct sunlight.

Ao Nang beach – the southern part near the big rock

Behind a small river (or stream) is the most southern part of the Ao Nang beach, which is almost completely buried in the shade of large trees with branchy crowns. It is there that there is a staircase leading to the path to the beach of Pai Plong (the beach of the Centara Hotel). The southern part of Ao Nang Beach is also remarkable for the fact that wild monkeys often wander here, both adults and children. Willingly take food from your hands, but be careful with the kids, because adult monkeys can misunderstand your intentions and bite, and then everyone will be uncomfortable.

The southern extremity of Ao Nang beach – a four-handed friend engaged in begging

Northern part of Ao Nang beach  – my overview

As in the southern part of the Ao Nang beach, the northern one is also limited by rocks protruding into the sea. To reach the northern tip of the beach, you can again either by the shore past the long-tailed boats, or along the embankment. In the second case, sooner or later you will have to go down to the beach, as the main road turns to the right, and on the first line from the sea there is a number of hotels. The entire beach of Ao Nang is not very deep, and in the northern part it is noticeably clearest, especially at low tide. All the photos below are made at the time of a strong low-tide in the morning.

View of Ao Nang beach. Early morning at low tide in the northern part of the beach

In the photo you can notice that the beach is very flat, while such a small slope of the bottom continues at least 100-150 meters. Also, a distinctive feature of this part of the beach is a slightly muddy bottom. It does not interfere with swimming at all, since a small temporary turbidity of the water is noticeable only where the foot moves, and also directly at the shore, where the silt is lifted from the bottom of the wave. I admit that during the strong excitement, the quality of the water on the beach can deteriorate, as mud will not have time to sink to the bottom. I bathed in good weather with a little excitement and from the height of my height (183 cm) I could clearly see the feet, when i standing up to my throat in the water.

Ao Nang Beach. The northern part of the beach at low tide

Some of the inconvenience of bathing on this beach alone is due to the fact that things have to be left on the beach away from the sea line (because of the wet sand), and you have to swim because of the shallow depth of the sea at a great distance from the shore. Although monkeys who can take your things without a demand, it seems there was not seen, personally, I still was not completely calm. I liked the northern part of Ao Nang beach more as a place for a morning walk: a minimum of the people even in the high season, a wide band of sand (especially at low tide), miniature crabs running at the feet, a beautiful view of the calm sea. Also, many small shells are thrown ashore, many of which have a purple or a dark blue color.

Ao Nang beach (northern part at low tide) – a wide sand belt

As in other parts of Ao Nang beach, the sand here is shallow and soft, it is pleasant to walk around it like barefoot, or in beach shoes. Sun loungers and umbrellas are also not provided. Cafes and shops directly next to the beach there. In a more favorable situation – guests staying on the beach hotels that can sunbathe on the sun loungers of their hotels, just above the beach level, and also have breakfast on the beach in open restaurants. In the northern part of the beach Ao Nang (Krabi) grows a large number of trees with beautiful flowers, reminiscent of white swirls. Romantic natures can lay out of them on the sand the name of their beloved / loved one and send. If, of course, this most beloved person is not near …

On this review of the Ao Nang beach completed. If in the process of reading or viewing photos there were some questions – feel free to ask them in the comments, I will try to answer. Updated: added a video from the beach of Ao Nang (its southern part, as my favorite, more picturesque and pleasant for staying and swimming). Pleasant viewing and rest!

This is a very popular question independent travelers. Phuket and Krabi is located close enough to each other, but at the same time the largest island of Thailand (Phuket), and the resorts of the most picturesque province of this country have significant differences from each other. Therefore, it is not surprising that during one travel to the country, many tourists do not give up the opportunity to significantly diversify their vacation, having visited both the island of Phuket and the province of Krabi. Especially that the distance between these resorts can be overcome quite easily, inexpensively and quickly, using various transport options along the Phuket-Krabi route (or in the opposite direction), which are described in detail in this article (with the fares of such trip).

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( you can click on the link)

How to get from Phuket to Krabi by bus

I did not accidentally put this option in the first place in the article, because using the bus on the route Phuket – Krabi in my opinion is the best option for moving between resorts in terms of price, speed and comfort, especially if you are traveling alone. To take a bus on this route from Phuket, you need to arrive at a new bus terminal in Phuket Town and purchase a ticket for between 120 and 150 baht (about $ 4-5). Buses are equipped with air conditioning, and the journey time is about 2.5 – 3 hours. Buses run from morning till night with a convenient interval for tourists in one hour.

If the budget of your trip is significantly limited, but you have more free time, if you do not like air-conditioners or you just want to get acquainted with the places of residence and, in some way, with the life of local residents, you can use second-class buses without air conditioning, which follow On the route Phuket – Krabi with numerous stops in small villages along the road. As a rule, passengers nearby you on such buses will be exchange several times during the trip. Before you can get to Krabi, you will be in way in about 7-8 hours, and at a price the trip will cost only $ 2 (65 baht).

It should be noted that there are buses Phuket – Krabi to the bus terminal Krabi, from which you still need to travel directly to Krabi Town or to other resorts in Krabi Province, for example, in Ao Nang or on the Peninsula of the Railey. It is best to use local songthaew (passenger pick-up) for this, since the taxi in Krabi is not a very budget option. In addition, it is better not to choose the most recent flights for this trip: you will be able to reach your hotel in any case, but making it at night will be somewhat more complicated and more expensive than during the day.

You can get from Phuket to Krabi by bus – cheapest variant

In the category of buses, you can include a transfer on the route Phuket – Krabi on the minibus, which are sent from both bus terminals of both cities, and ordered at the local tour desk. The fare on the minibus is almost no different from the cost of the bus, but the speed of traffic is greater. However, there is one nuance: often the minibus are filled to the maximum and in conditions of limited space and lack of luggage compartment will have to keep a bag or backpack on your lap. With large suitcases, the option is completely unsuccessful: it is better to use a large intercity bus (a trip from the bus station) with a spacious luggage compartment.

From Phuket to Krabi by ferry – features of moving and prices

To get to Krabi by ferry from Phuket is easy enough, but such a move has some features associated with the duration and cost. There are several options that are very different from each other. Choosing the first option, you should be prepared for the fact that such a trip will take you almost the entire light day. Those. ferry sails away from the pier in Phuket in the morning and arrives in Krabi – evening. Why is such a low speed? It’s simple: after a two-hour ferry voyage makes a long stop on the island of Phi Phi Don, where passengers have 4-5 hours to explore the island. After the specified time, you must again go to the ferry that will take you directly to Krabi.

Ferry tickets can be purchased either directly at the quay of the island of Phuket (or in Krabi, if it is a question of a reverse move), as well as numerous sightseeing bureaus. Keep in mind that the latter option sometimes can be cheaper, because Ferry companies make good discounts to wholesale buyers, in whose role organizers of transfers act. In addition, often such an acquired transfer includes transportation from the hotel to the pier, which in Phuket with its slightly “oborzevshimi” taxi drivers is important. Like almost everywhere in Thailand, there is an opportunity to purchase tickets for the ferry on the website of ferries company.

From Phuket to Krabi by ferry – interesting sea way

The cost of the ferry Phuket – Krabi is about $ 25, while the time spent on the road is a lot. Therefore, this method can be recommended again for those who adore sea voyages or do not tolerate shaking in buses, as well as those who necessarily want to spend at least a few hours on the famous island. Alternatively, the ferry can be used when there is a desire to relax a few days on the island of Phi Phi Don and continue the journey to Krabi. In the latter case, in the process of purchasing tickets for the ferry, please specify that you want a ticket from Phi Phi to Krabi with an open date (for Phuket-Krabi ferry in any case, two tickets are issued – Phuket – Phi Phi and Phi Phi – Krabi).

The second option, which allows you to get to Krabi from Phuket, is to purchase a direct ferry ticket online – on the website of transport in Asia. When you click on this link (the English version of the booking service), you can see that there are not many variants. Typically, this is just one ferry a day that departs from the Phuket (Rassada pier) at 11-00 and arrives in Krabi (pier Klong Jilard) at 15-00. It means, that time in a way at a choice of a direct ferry between resorts – 4 hours. The cost of the ferry is almost the same, but sometimes it can save you time and you will arrive in Krabi and have time to get to your hotel during the light time.

How to get to Krabi from Phuket by taxi or rental car

Probably the fastest option, but requiring maximum monetary costs. Everyone knows the appetites of Phuket taxi drivers, so even if you know how to bargain in Thailand correctly, you do not have to count on an adequate amount. If you still want to go by taxi, it’s better to count on the amount of 4000 baht and above. Somewhat better is the situation with a taxi on the return route from Krabi to Phuket, because in the latter case the taxi fare will be around 3000 baht (there are options for 2500 baht that can be ordered online). Often during a high season, taxi drivers call even greater price and do not want to reduce the price during bargaining.

I suspect, it’s also because taxi drivers do not really want to make long journeys, because after making short trips to their resort and carrying a lot of passengers for short distances, they can earn even more and without much “straining”. By the way, there is another option to get from Phuket to Krabi, not only on a classic taxi, but also on a “sea taxi”. Wishing to take advantage of this option, you should contact the local tour desk or try to negotiate directly with the captain of the boat on one of the piers. The cost will be negotiated depending on the number of people, and the travel time on the speedboat will be about 3 hours.

Amazing views on the way to Krabi from Phuket by road

Those who doubt their bargaining skills and are afraid that the boat is not for him, it is worth paying attention to the taxi transfer. If you do not want to get nervous again and bargain with local drivers, we advise you to book a taxi in advance at the international transfer company Kiwitaxi. This method will be cheaper (from the airport about 3000 baht) than a taxi on the street with a good bargaining, and in this method you do not have to communicate with local taxi drivers. The taxi driver can meet you in the airport arrival hall and take you to the necessary place in Krabi or Ao Nang. This option is especially useful when you are traveling with children or in a large company of friends.

Also you can simply rent a car in Phuket and independently reach it in Krabi, especially if you do not rest alone, but a company of 3-4 people. The distance is small, very high quality roads. In addition, a rented car will be very handy and when resting in the province of Krabi, where there is a large number of scattered around the area of natural and cultural attractions, which are not accessible by public transport, and renting a car with a thai driver is 1.5 – 2 times more expensive. Given that renting a car in Phuket costs about 1000 baht per day, renting a car for 3-4 days will be cheaper than paying a taxi for one way.

When you use rent a car in Phuket,  you can rent car navigator for an additional fee. But today, when almost everyone is resting with modern smartphones, the usual Google maps maps perfectly with the role of a navigator even without the presence of the Internet. By the way, depending on the place of return departure, you can either return to the island of Phuket in a rented car, or hand it over to one of the company’s branches in the province, for example, at Krabi Airport. Of course, this option is possible only when using the services of well-known companies that have branches throughout the country.

There is also the possibility to get from Phuket to Krabi by plane, but the relatively short distance between the resorts, together with the amount of time that is additionally expended for moving to the airport, waiting for the flight, and the need to get from Krabi airport to the city or resorts on the coast makes this option, To put it mildly, is not entirely justified both in terms of price and in terms of time. I hope that after reading this article you will not have any difficulties if you want to get from Phuket to Krabi or from Krabi to Phuket.

With the help of live webcams Krabi, which are located in the most interesting places of the province, you can see in real time the main attractions of this region – both natural and man-made. Krabi is often called the most beautiful province in Thailand, and there are good reasons for this. The country has many beautiful beaches with white sand and emerald sea water. But the high cliffs on the beaches and in the water are located mainly in the province of Krabi. It is these cliffs that make the landscapes of Krabi resorts unique and memorable and they are depicted on tourist postcards and leaflets in Thailand.

Krabi webcams – what can you see?

The province of Krabi is not only and not so much a piece of the mainland of Thailand in the south-west of this country, but many large and small tropical islands in the Andaman Sea. These islands are also decorated with giant limestone cliffs, and you can see some of the most popular islands of Krabi province using online webcams. For example, you can see in real time the famous Maya Bay, in which the cult adventure film “The Beach” was filmed, and which leaves no one indifferent even when viewing a webcam. By the way, this bay is periodically closed to the public, and at such moments you can see it only with the help of a webcam located there.

You can also see in real time the famous island of Poda, which is surrounded from almost all sides by beautiful white sand beaches and next to which there is a vertically standing rock in the water, which has become one of the symbols of Thailand. The most beautiful places of the province on the mainland of Krabi were not ignored. For example, wide beaches in Nopparat Thara and one of the best beaches not only in Thailand, but also in the world, which is called Phra Nang beach and is located on the Railay peninsula near the resort village of Ao Nang.

Despite the fact that most Thais and foreigners prefer to relax on the magnificent beaches of Krabi province, there are other attractions in the region that are not located on the coast. For example, here you can find a special nature trail through mangroves, hot springs and places for walks along the river. Some of these objects are already available today for viewing with the help of Krabi live webcams, and some will be added soon. Also in the collection of webcams, you will find several man-made objects, which are also a symbol of the province and its main city – Krabi Town. At the resorts of Krabi, you can watch magnificent sunsets over the sea, and individual webcams allow you to do this in real time.

The weather is important in the travel planning process. Unfortunately, the weather forecast on television or on the Internet will never be 100% reliable. Especially when it comes to Thailand or any other country in the tropics. In addition, from the weather forecast you can get information about the temperature and possible precipitation, but you will not get information about the state of the waves at sea, the number of people resting on the beaches, etc. Only Krabi live webcams allow you to see how things are actually in the resorts and islands of this province. It is much easier and faster to see for yourself what you are interested in in real time than to read reviews and numerous weather forecasts.

How and when to watch Krabi webcams

To make live viewing of the most interesting locations of Krabi province more comfortable, all the cameras are placed on separate pages. It also allows you to speed up the loading of images from webcams and reduce the waiting time before playback starts. If you want to view a single Krabi webcam in real time, simply go to it using the link in the list of webcams below. And if you want to see each of the cameras, you can open any and then quickly open the next one in the list with one arrow above the camera playback window.

By tradition, under each of the cameras there is a description of the place where it is located. This description may be brief or more detailed, but in any case, after reading it, you will know exactly which beach, island or landmark you see on the screen in real time. Since the time in Thailand may differ from the time in your time zone, I advise you to pay attention to the timer, which is usually located at the bottom of the webcam playback window. In addition to the current time, there is also marked the current date in Thailand. During the maintenance of webcams, you may not be shown an online image, but a picture from the past.

Due to the fact that most Krabi webcams are located on the islands and beaches of this province, do not forget about the time of day in Thailand. Most beaches do not have bright night lighting, so don’t be surprised when you want to watch Krabi’s webcams at night, you’ll only see a black screen and perhaps a few distant lights from ships at sea. A more favorable situation with urban webcams in Krabi, but I am sure that they will not be as popular as the cameras overlooking the main attractions of the province. So bookmark the page and enjoy the best views of Krabi province in real time mode at the best time for this. Enjoy watching!

LIST OF THE BEST LIVE WEBCAMS KRABI (THAILAND)

Live webcam Phra Nang Beach (Krabi, Thailand)

Phra Nang Beach in Krabi province is often included in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. Therefore, it is not at all surprising that the online webcam from this beach is very popular all over the world. Ao Phra Nang beach (Pranang beach) is located in the southern part of the Railay peninsula and is surrounded by high inaccessible cliffs. You can get here either by boat or along a narrow path from the nearby East Railay Beach (which can also be reached only by water). In addition to the high scenic cliffs on both sides of Phra Nang Beachh, you can see another rock in the sea, near the beach. It is this rock on Phra Nang Beach that is the main symbol of Krabi province in Thailand. In fact, there are even 2 rocks in the sea near Phra Nang Beach, but the distance between them is less than 10 meters, so from all points of the beach it seems that the rocks are interconnected.

Webcam in Maya Bay (Phi Phi Leh, Krabi)

This new webcam is located on the uninhabited Thai island of Phi Phi Ley (Phi Phi Leh), which is located in Krabi province. Thanks to this, we can see in real time one of the main attractions of this province and one of the symbols of all of Thailand – Maya Bay. This is an amazingly beautiful bay, which is a small lagoon with emerald colored water. High steep cliffs, partially covered with tropical greenery, surround Maya Bay from three sides and, thus, protect this bay from Andaman Sea waves. The bay received world fame after the release of the movie “The Beach”, in which Leonardo DiCaprio starred. This Krabi webcam on Phi Phi Leh is located almost on the beach of white sand, so we can admire this beautiful place at any time of the year.

The main beach of Poda Island – Krabi live webcam

This original webcam is located on one of the most beautiful islands of Krabi province – Koh Poda. The island is located about 7 kilometers from the mainland and the easiest way to get here by boat from the resort village of Ao Nang. Poda Island is one of the symbols of Thailand and another hallmark of Krabi province. Surely you have seen a lot of Thai photos, which depict a very beautiful white sand beach and a very high rock in the water off the coast. This is the landscape you can now see in real time with the help of a new webcam on the island of Poda in Thailand. Online camera is located in the northern part of the island, almost on the territory of a sandy beach. The sand here is so white that in the middle of a sunny day it can make the eyes a little blind.

Live webcam Krabi – the beach on the Poda island

The second webcam on the Koh Poda (or Poda Island) allows you to see one of the side beaches that are almost as beautiful as the main beach on the north shore. The only difference is that there is no that highest rock in the water, which makes the northern beach of the island of Poda so popular and world famous. On the other hand, there are far fewer tourists on this beach even at the height of the day, when numerous tourists come to the island of Poda from the mainland and other islands of Krabi province in Thailand. Another distinctive feature of all the beaches on the eastern and southeastern coast of the island of Poda is a smaller depth compared to the beach in the northern part. This is due to the presence of a coral reef, the size of which exceeds the size of the island.

Nopparat Thara Beach in Krabi – live webcam

With this webcam in the province of Krabi (Thailand) we can see Nopparat Thara beach in real time. This is the second most popular beach near the resort of Ao Nang, and its length is about 3 kilometers. This webcam is located in the northwestern part of Nopparat Thara beach, which is the most remote from the resort of Ao Nang. Getting here on foot from Ao Nang is more difficult, but there are many cheap hotels here. In addition, it is in this part Nopparat Tara beach is the most beautiful, because a group of small islands is located nearby. On weekends and holidays, not only tourists but also locals relax on the beach. As you can see with this webcam, Nopparat Tara beach, even during the high tourist season, is a very quiet place and there are not many tourists here.

Tha Pom Klong Song Nam – Krabi live webcam

Another Krabi province webcam is in a national park called Tha Pom Klong Song Nam. The main feature of this natural park is the original ecosystem, which for hundreds of years was formed under the influence of sea and fresh water. It is not by chance that the name of the national park is translated from Thai as “Channel of two waters”. You can visit this place, which is located about 20 kilometers north of Ao Nang resort in Krabi, or see one of the sections of the ecological trail using this webcam in real time. Since the national park is located in the area of mangrove swamps on the coast of Krabi province, you can move there only by special wooden paths that are raised above the water level.

Krabi live webcam – Black Crab monument and Khao Khanap

The original Krabi webcam, which allows you to see three points of interest in real time. In this case, it is not about resort villages or islands of the province, but directly about the main city of the province – Krabi Town. The first two sights are man-made and you can see them in the near plan. These are big eagles on pillars and a giant black crab on the pedestal a little further. These sculptures symbolize the abundance of Krabi province, and numerous tourists are always trying to make a selfie photos for the memory on the background of beautiful sculptures. The monument to the black crab consists of one main figure and three additional ones. In the center is a huge black crab, and around it are three smaller crab.
