If you do not need to live only in the Soi Buakhao area, you can find a good room through the Airbnb. I think you know this international service. If not, you can get a registration bonus (48 AUD), which can be spent on the first booking. Personally, I used this service for a several times in my recent trips to Pattaya and chose a large modern UNIXX Condo condo as a place of residence. Very good location next to the routes of cheap public transport, you can walk to the pier on foot and walk to Walking Street in 10 minutes. And, of course, the very housing itself is very classy and is inexpensive (20-30 USD per day). Large studios and one bedroom apartment, two large swimming pools, a gym, etc. I lived on the 12th and 34th floor, a view of Pattaya for a million dollars!

IMHO, accommodation in such apartments is much more interesting than in a small hotel room for a similar price.
