You can see the scenic view that opens from Karon Viewpoint on Phuket’s many tourist postcards. This is really one of the most beautiful viewing platforms on the island and that is why I put it in first place on my list. On this page you will find a brief overview of the Karon Viewpoint observation deck with photos in various weathers and a small video review. Viewpoint on the Khao Saam Haad hill is the most popular and crowded in Phuket. A few years ago, the observation deck received a new name and now it is officially called Karon View Point. But also you still can find references to this place as the “Viewpoint of Three Beaches”, as Khao Saam Haad is translated from Thai as “Three Beaches Hill”. Also, in some sources, this place is designated as the Kata Viewpoint.

Karon Viewpoint – how to get there
Despite the new official name, Karon Viewpoint is not located in the area of Karon Beach, but on a hill between the beaches of Nai Harn and Kata Noi. The distance from the observation deck to the southern part of Karon Beach is more than 4.5 km by road. Getting to Karon Viewpoint is very easy, because it is located directly on highway 4030, which connects all the western and southern beaches of Phuket. It is along this road that you can get to the Karon observation deck from the beaches of Kalim, Patong, Karon, Kata, Nai Harn, Yanui and Rawai.

There is a parking lot for cars and motorbikes near Karon viewpoint. As a rule, even during the high season on the island you will not have problems in order to park your transport. At the peak hours, parking a car can be a little difficult, so if you use a car rental in Phuket, you can park the car directly on the 4030 road (only on a bend, of course). In addition, you do not need much effort to climb the highest point of Karon Viewpoint and take beautiful photos. It is easy to go upstairs, because there are beautiful paths from paving slabs. And really, it is not very high from parking level.

At the top there is a gazebo, next to which there are always many tourists. However, you do not have to wait in line to get beautiful photos from this place. You can see a beautiful view of Phuket’s coast and three beaches at once – Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon – not only from the gazebo on the top, but also directly from the parking area. There are several benches with a beautiful view. You can also get some good views by going up the paths to the gazebo on the top of the hill. Interesting views from the observation deck can be obtained at sunset and after it, when numerous lights come on in the villages on the beaches of Phuket.

When planning to visit Karon Viewpoint, I advise you to choose clear, dry weather for this when you fully enjoy the magnificent views of the Phuket coast. On such days, the visible area is more than 8 kilometers, and the water on the beaches of Phuket has a rich azure color (as in the first photo in this article). But even on cloudy days, the view is very good, as you can see with some other photos on this page and my video, which I took on just one of the cloudy days in Phuket (the video will start playing directly from a visit to Karon Viewpoint).

A small video review of Karon Viewpoint (Phuket Island)
Near Karon Viewpoint, you can almost always find several points with simple food, drinks and ice cream. A toilet near the observation deck is also available. In the parking area, you can often take a picture (for money) with a large bird of prey (eagle) against the backdrop of Phuket’s sea panorama. I strongly advise everyone to visit this cult place, because it is really beautiful here and you can certainly take a number of beautiful photos. And, even more important, get a real aesthetic pleasure from such a beautiful view of the island of Phuket. Have a nice rest!
