The original webcam of Koh Samui, which is located in the Choeng Mon beach area. This beach is formed by a small lagoon, which, in turn, is located on a large promontory in the northeastern part of Ko Samui. Koh Samui International Airport is located just a few kilometers to the southwest and separates this large headland from the main part of Koh Samui. The webcam is placed directly in the beach area, at a low altitude from sea level. This allows you to get some beach feeling and more enjoyable viewing.
Choeng Mon beach is one of the most convenient on Koh Samui for families with children, because because of the relief of the coastline, there are rarely big waves here. Also, a feature of this beach is its flat bottom and even a few tens of meters from the coast, the depth does not exceed 1 meter. There is light sand on the beach and in the water, so in sunny weather the water on the beach looks very clean and has a pleasant azure color. In different parts of the beach, you can find areas of fine to coarse sand. The beach is about 1 kilometer long, and the average width of Choeng Mon beach is from 20 to 30 meters. Moreover, in the central part there are sections up to 50 meters wide. There are sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach. Also in the northern and southern parts of the beach you can find natural shade from palms and other tropical trees.
During the low season on Koh Samui – from December to February – there can be more waves on the beach, which bringing seaweed, shells, coral debris and coconuts. In the central and southern part of the beach, there are many hotels and cafes, whose employees are engaged in cleaning the beach from this kind of garbage every day. The northern part of Choeng Mon Beach is wilder and more unkempt, but also has its own charm. In the southeastern part of the beach there is a long sandbank, along which at low tide you can wade to the small island – Koh Fan Yai. This makes Choeng Mon Beach look like Mae Haad Beach on the neighboring island of Koh Phangan. By the way, with the help of this webcam, you can see in the distance the eastern part of Koh Phangan (about 10 kilometers from the webcam).
The location of this webcam is Lost Beach Bar – a popular vacation spot on the Choeng Mon beach. You can not only drink alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails, but also order original snacks, play beach volleyball or badminton. In addition, Lost Beach Bar has several bungalows that you can rent for the night. You can also rent kayaks and take an exciting boat trip. Due to the fact that this part of Koh Samui can experience strong low tides, the shallow lagoon in the Lost Beach Bar area can remain without water for several hours.
