S44ROOM Hotel in Bangkok (Sukhumvit) – My Review

This page provides an overview and my review of the S44ROOM Hotel in Bangkok. In the capital of Thailand there are a huge number of hotels, but I always choose a hotel for a very long time that meets most of my requirements. The main ones are: location in the city, transport accessibility, comfort during your stay and low price. I note right away that the S44ROOM hotel fully meets all such requirements and that is why I chose this place to stay in Bangkok. In addition to the overview of this 3-star hotel, below on the page you will find information about a number of other facilities that may be useful during your stay in Bangkok.

Hotel S44ROOM – Location in Bangkok

S44ROOM Hotel has a very good location in Bangkok. It is located on Sukhumvit 44 Alley. It is just 120 meters from BTS SkyTrain Station Phra Khanong. You can get here from Phaya Thai BTS Station (where trains from Suvarnabhumi Airport arrive) for 44 THB (1.5 USD). At the same time, you have to drive 10 stations and this will take you only 18-20 minutes. The proximity of the hotel from the BTS SkyTrain station makes it easy to get from the hotel door to the metro station in just 2 minutes and go to any area of the city and not be afraid of traffic jams.

And if you buy a day pass on SkyTrain at a discount, then quick trips around the city will bring you real pleasure and will save time and money. The second feature of the S44ROOM hotel’s location is the proximity of the East Ekkamai Bus Terminal in Bangkok. To get to this bus terminal from the door of the hotel, you need only 7-8 minutes. And you should not use public transport or taxis for this, because the hotel is located just 650 meters from the BTS Ekkamai station, next to which is the bus terminal of the same name.

It is very important that the Ekkamai Bus Terminal and S44ROM Hotel are located on one side of Sukhumvit Road and you do not need to use elevated pedestrian crossings (it’s a “big pleasure” when you have a backpack on your back and a heavy suitcase in your hands). In the picture below, the arrows indicate the Ekkamai bus station and the S44ROOM hotel (the picture is clickable).

Hotel Features and Room Overview S44ROOM

Hotel S44ROOM (link to the smart search for available rooms in this hotel at the best price) is a new city hotel, since it was opened in 2018. Behind a large glass door there is a lounge with a reception desk and comfortable soft chairs. A little further is another hall with chairs, a soft sofa, a dining table and chairs. Given that the rooms do not have a large table, you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner in the lobby. There is also a microwave where you can reheat cooked food. This is a small hotel and has only 14 rooms, so the hall was always quiet and calm. At that time, due to the small number of rooms on the dates you have chosen, there may not be rooms available.

At S44ROOM you can book rooms of various classes: standard rooms, rooms with a balcony and family rooms. All of them are decorated in light (almost white) colors and therefore the rooms seem clean and spacious. I stayed in a 2-bed room with a balcony and I had pleasant memories of being there. The room had everything you need: a wide and comfortable bed, quiet air conditioning, a large LCD TV, a large refrigerator, a wardrobe with hangers, a mirror with a small table and 1 chair. A safe with a combination lock and a small drawer with a lock are fixed in the cabinet. And in the table drawer was hidden hair dryer.

Each room at S44ROOM has its own bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. At the same time, the shower has a special tap for washing feet, and the shower area is separated from the toilet by a partition. The room was equipped with a balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard, so the room was quiet at any time. The price of the stay included drinking water (2 bottles of 0.5 liters), 2 bags of instant coffee, 2 bags of tea and several bags of sugar. An electric kettle and cups are provided for making hot drinks in the room. There were also 2 glass glasses for cold drinks or water.

Infrastructure near the hotel S44ROOM

The Sukhumvit Road area is one of Bangkok’s busiest areas. Therefore, along this street there are a large number of shopping centers. For example, Terminal 21 at a BTS Nana station or Tesco Lotus at a nearby BTS On Nut station. The nearest 7Eleven store is located 4-5 minutes from the hotel (towards the city center, just under the elevated pedestrian crossing). Another mini supermarket is open around the clock on the opposite side of the S44ROOM from Sukhumvit Road. Look for the pink Max Valu sign under the platform area of Phra Khanong Station. Several ATMs are also located there.

If you want to buy ready-made meals for breakfast or lunch inexpensively, there is a TOPS Daily store near the other exit from BTS Phra Khanong Station. This store has a large selection of simple, ready-made meals that can be reheated in the microwave right in the store or in the S44ROOM’s lobby. For anyone interested, see the assortment and prices in a short video review of the hotel. The store entrance is almost under the escalator leading to the FITNESS 24 SEVEN gym. Store Hours – from 06:00 to 24:00.

My impressions of the S44ROOM hotel in Bangkok

I stayed at the S44ROOM hotel for two nights and can give this hotel 9/10 points. In various reservation systems, the hotel also has a rating from 8.5 to 9 points out of 10. The main advantage is its excellent location 2 minutes from the overground metro, clean and quiet rooms, new furniture and the availability of some nice bonuses (hot drinks for self-catering in the room). Friendly staff worked at the hotel during my stay. I arrived at the hotel at 10:30 in the morning and left my suitcase and backpack at the reception without any problems and went for a walk around the city. Perhaps someone needs information: the hotel is allowed to bring guests. I lived with my Thai girlfriend and she did not need to leave an ID at the reception.

Of the shortcomings, I can only note that the floor in the shower area is made at the floor level in the toilet. Because of this, part of the water did not drain into the drain hole and a small puddle formed at the entrance to the bathroom. It is possible that this is the problem of my number and in other rooms this is not. If it speaks about the price of this three-star hotel, then it is very adequate for such a good location and condition of the rooms. I recommend this hotel to all categories of travelers and plan to stay there for a few nights during my next visit to Bangkok.
