The authorities of Pattaya, a famous resort city in Thailand, together with the TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) and representatives of the business sector, have developed a special scheme that will allow foreign tourists to be received from October 1, 2021 without mandatory quarantine. This scheme was called Pattaya Move On and will soon be offered to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA). However, some points of this plan are contradictory and many of the foreigners who have already familiarized themselves with this plan are not very optimistic. Moreover, there are still no clear answers to a number of important questions.

The essence of the Pattaya Move On scheme is the possibility of foreign tourists arriving at the Pattaya resort from countries with a low incidence of Covid-19 and who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with a certified vaccine. At the same time, it is planned to establish a maximum vaccine validity period of no more than 12 months from the date of the last injection. Children under 12 years old will be able to come to Pattaya without any additional conditions, but they will have to stay with their parents at all times. And children between the ages of 12 and 18 will need to provide a negative Covid-19 certificate based on a test taken no later than 72 hours before departure to Thailand.

The second rule, causing the maximum number of questions, is the place of residence of foreign tourists. It is assumed that they will only be required to reside in the Sattahip and Bang Lamung districts. In this case, we are talking about a limited list of hotels that will have a SHA (Safety and Health Administration) certificate. For 7 days, foreigners will be able to participate in a limited number of activities, the list of which will include a visit to the beach and some other activities permitted by local authorities. On the fifth day of stay in Pattaya, every foreigner will be required to take a new test for Covid-19. If the test result is negative, foreigners will be able to visit other areas of the province from the 7th day of their stay in the country until the end of the vacation.

An important element of the plan is the mass vaccination of local residents, which should reach 70% by October 2021. Currently, the vaccination rate in Thailand is not very high, but from June 7, it is planned to accelerate the rate of vaccination many times over. According to the plan, this requires the use of about 900 thousand doses of the vaccine. Another condition for the approval of the Pattaya Move On plan is the success of a similar plan for receiving foreign tourists in Phuket. On this tropical island, the tourist season is planned to open from July 1, so in 3 months it will be possible to draw the necessary conclusions about the effectiveness of such a plan and make some adjustments.

Covid-19 Vaccination Center in Pattaya

Covid-19 Vaccination Center in Pattaya

It should be noted that this plan is not final and can be changed at any time (which has already happened several times since the beginning of the pandemic). Also, such important questions as the movement of tourists remained unanswered. For example, will foreigners be transported from airports by special transport or will they get there on their own? Will foreigners who own real estate in Pattaya be able to stay in their own apartments for 7 days or will they also be required to stay in hotels? Finally, the list of events and places that foreign tourists will be able to visit during the first 7 days in the Kingdom is not clear.

In most of the thematic forums, foreigners were disappointed with the current plan. According to the authorities, the Pattaya Move On plan will eliminate the mandatory quarantine for foreigners. But in fact, foreigners will not be able to use the hotel search at the best price and will be required to stay in special hotels from a limited list. And, most importantly, foreigners are convinced that the cost of these hotels will be as high as the price of expensive hotels for a 14-day quarantine at present. In addition, it is not yet clear whether tourists will be able to move freely or will be limited to visiting the beach and hotel grounds. In the latter case, it is very strange to talk about the abolition of quarantine, because we are not talking about any freedom of movement and choice of place of residence.

Finally, the likelihood of new outbreaks of infection after the arrival of thousands of workers from remote provinces in Pattaya, who will certainly come to the resort after its opening for mass tourism, is a serious concern. If such workers are found to be unvaccinated, this will greatly reduce the overall vaccination rate in Pattaya. And with the next outbreak of the virus, strict quarantine measures may be introduced again for everyone, including tourists. Do you like the current Pattaya Move On plan or do you find it too strict and unacceptable for foreigners? Write in the comments.

I draw your attention to the fact that the duration of daylight in Pattaya due to the resort’s location in the tropics is much smaller than many of us are used to. The quality of the pictures online in night-time webcams Pattaya is not as high as during the day, especially when the objects which are subject to the camera, poorly lit. Also, be aware of the possible and the difference of time zone between Thailand and your current location. Those, if you live eg in the Europe, USA or Canada, an attempt to assess the situation at the resort with one of the webcams Pattaya in the evening may fail due to the fact that in this time already deep night in Pattaya.

Also, in order to better represent the location of each of the online web cameras, you can see a selection of city maps indicating New maps of Pattaya with areas and hotels.

Nearly all webcams are automatically started when you open the page. Occasionally it is necessary in some browsers to run the broadcast click on the icon “Play” (triangle) in the player’s window. Also, the image from some webcams you can expand to fill the screen, but it can lead to an increase in load time video stream. If play does not occur, or is issued a warning about the absence of the required plug-in, I advise you to get acquainted with ways of solving the problem on the page “Online webcam in Thailand”. The most common problem is solved by installing Adobe Flash player in your browser.

Holidays with Kids in Pattaya - Useful TipsTravels to Pattaya with a kids are becoming more popular every year, because this resort in the Gulf of Thailand is rapidly transforming from a city for single men to a real family resort, and a vacation with kids in Pattaya is truly full-fledged and interesting for both adults and children . Do not be afraid that children in Pattaya will be bored: today there are so many entertainment facilities in the resort and its environs that to visit each of them at least once you will have to make more than one trip to Pattaya with a kids. The text contains links to other articles on the site, each of which in more detail reveals one of the aspects of a holiday in Pattaya with children.

I’ll note right away that if your child is very small, then like in all other resorts of the world without exception, the kid will have to entertain either on his own or you need use special animators for small children. If the children in Pattaya are a bit older, i.e. age of three years or more, then you should not worry about relaxing with kids in this resort at all. Moreover, in all of Thailand there is no other resort where the issue of relaxing with children would be thought out as carefully as in Pattaya.

Holidays with children in Pattaya: visiting excursions

The excursion program in Pattaya can be envied by many other popular world resorts, especially since many such excursions not only allow you to look at exotic animals, fish, butterflies, birds, but also become witnesses of fascinating theatrical performances and performances in which all kinds of animals are involved. Going to Pattaya with your kids, you can be sure that they will like the performances of elephants playing football and basketball, like giraffes and little cubs, which your kids can not only stroke, but also hold on your lap, feeding milk from a bottle.

Children of a slightly older age are likely to be interested in shows with snakes and crocodile shows, a visit to the butterfly park and an orchid park, a visit to the Pattaya dolphinarium and the oceanarium, which contains interesting inhabitants of the deep sea. In order not to repeat myself, in this article I will not describe where and what is described above: in more detail you can read about this in a separate article, “The Best Excursions in Pattaya: Description and Prices”. I can only add that you can save up to 60% of your money on entry tickets, excursions and transportation in Pattaya and other countries of the world if you use the Klook service and order everything online in your first language.

Pattaya has many shows with animal for children

Pattaya has many shows with animal for children

In addition, there are a number of excursions that may be of interest to both kids and adults. For example, an excursion to the Kwai River, which includes such interesting places for children as swimming in the crystal clear Erawan waterfall with exotic fish and rafting in special vests along the river (for children from 5 years old). Children in Pattaya can also be taken to the grandiose Safari World Zoo in the vicinity of the Thai capital, the tiger zoo in Siracha (Siracha Tiger Zoo), the Khao Kheo Open Zoo and other interesting places in the vicinity of Pattaya and Bangkok.

To Pattaya with a child: adventures parks

Almost all children in Pattaya will certainly beg you to visit one of the amusement parks that they are likely to hear about from other children vacationing with you in one of the family hotels in Pattaya. With the amusement parks in Pattaya, everything is also in order, more precisely not in Pattaya itself, but closer to Bangkok, but even small children can endure the hour and a half bus ride, not to mention the older children. Going on vacation with kids to Pattaya, you should be prepared for the fact that you have to take them to the Dream World, which is rightly called the Asian Disneyland.

In addition to the attractions for children of all ages (and adults too), this park constantly hosts performances for the youngest, theatrical parades with the participation of cartoon characters, performances of stuntmen, dynamic scenes from real action movies, etc. Discounted Dream World tickets can also be bought at Klook. By the way, in the vicinity of Bangkok there is another amusement park called Siam Park Adventure.

This park is known for its huge water zone, one of the largest swimming pools with artificial waves in the world, as well as attractions that are designed more for older children, so if you are going to Pattaya with a child older than 10-12 years old and you want to not only entertain him, but also to get vivid impressions for yourself, I advise you to choose this particular park. Whatever recreation park you choose, I advise you either to go there yourself and as early as possible, or choose excursions where you are guaranteed a greater amount of time to visit the parks, because most likely the children will not want to return to Pattaya, until they will finish watching everything and tryed every rides.

Large amusement parks are located near Bangkok

Large amusement parks are located near Bangkok

If the bus crossings do not attract you or are poorly tolerated by your children, there is an alternative option with attractions that has already been appreciated by many children in Pattaya and their parents. I immediately warn you that despite the lack of the need to move to another city, you won’t save much, because the attractions in the Pattaya Royal Garden Plaza shopping center are the most modern, so they are not cheap. However, when buying tickets for the whole family through Klook service, you can save a lot of money. In this article, you can clarify the location of the Royal Garden Plaza shopping center in Pattaya, find out the cost of tickets and get an idea of the attractions there.

Water Parks for kids in Pattaya

In cases where you do not want to spend the whole day visiting any excursions and want to spend as much time as possible in the sun by the water, it makes sense to visit the water park in Pattaya, located on the territory of the Pattaya Park Hotel. Entrance to the water park is paid for everyone, including tourists living in the hotel, but it is very democratic and is only 60 baht for children (growth below 1 meter) and 100 baht for adults. The water park is known for its high water slides as well as a large ring-shaped pool.

The territory of the water park is well ennobled, and in addition to the slides and pools on the territory there are a sauna, a jacuzzi, a fitness center, jogging paths, a diving center and other entertainments. As a result, both adults and children can relax there and use their health benefits. If rest with children in Pattaya has already tired you a little and you just want to relax a bit from them, sunbathe and swim – the water park of Pattaya Park Hotel is a great place for this. While the children frolic on the water slides, you can sunbathe and relax under the umbrellas on the sun loungers by the pool, drinking Thai beer or chilled soft drinks in Thailand, tasty and healthy.

Waterpark at Pattaya Park hotel - inexpensive entertainment for kids

If you are going to Pattaya with children and want to visit real modern water parks in the Pattaya area, I recommend the ultra-modern Ramayana water park for this, which was opened in April 2016. This water park is located just 15 km from Pattaya and amazes with its grand size, a set of water slides, as well as other water attractions for adults and kids in Pattaya. Of course, its cost is much higher than the cost of Pattaya Park water park, but it should be borne in mind that huge amounts of money are invested in the object and the result at the exit is impressive.

A big advantage of the Ramayana water park in Pattaya is the relatively small number of visitors. For this reason, there are almost no queues on the water slides and you can use them as often as you want. An alternative to the Ramayana water park is Pattaya’s second major water park – Cartoon Network. It was built before, but is still an interesting holiday destination for children and adults. You can also buy entrance tickets to both water parks with a good discount using the international service Klook.

Beach holidays with children in Pattaya

If you live away from the sea, rivers or lakes suitable for swimming, your kids in Pattaya will be very happy to have the opportunity to swim in the warm sea and play on the beach of soft sand with other children under the warm sun of Thailand. Since the sea in Pattaya itself cannot boast of the highest transparency and cleanliness, it is better to relax with children not in the city itself, but on the coral island of Koh Lan, nearest to it, where the conditions are much better: there is no city noise, more warm and clean water and etc. In addition, you can get from Pattaya to Koh Lan island by ferry for only 30 baht per person one way, which is less than $ 1.

This is not the only way to get to the island. If you want to slightly reduce the travel time, you can buy tickets for 150 baht (round trip) and get to Koh Lan by a large boat, which immediately goes to the excellent Samae Beach. Finally, there are high-speed speedboats that will take you to any of the island’s beaches for 300 baht. Read more about this in the article “How to quickly get to Koh Lan Island from Pattaya.” The truth is that on a child’s speedboats it can be rocked, which is not very useful during a vacation, therefore, when choosing this option, individual characteristics of the child should be taken into account.

Pattaya and Koh Lan have many good beaches for children

Pattaya and Koh Lan have many good beaches for children

It should be noted that the island of Koh Lan is not uninhabited and secluded and there are really a lot of people there. But even at the peak of the season there are always plenty of free places, because many beaches of the island of Koh Lan have over 500 and more meters, and such beaches on the island, despite its not too large size, are many. Given the fact that many people come to the island for just a few hours, the best time to relax there is in the morning and after five in the evening, when most tourists leave the island. The latter circumstance allows us to think about not just relaxing with children on this island in the midst of, but also arranging for ourselves a long vacation in a hotel on the island of Koh Lan, which has many advantages.

If you do not want or do not have the opportunity to leave the city during your holidays with children in Pattaya even to visit a nearby island, good quality entertainment can also be found in the city. Earlier, I did not recommend going to Pattaya with a child to the central beach, since there is murky water and very noisy (a busy street nearby), however, after reconstruction in 2019-2020, the beach became several times wider and the water can be quite clean, especially in northern part of this beach. Therefore, a vacation with not the smallest children in Pattaya there may also be normal. But for young children, it is better to choose beaches in the north or in the south of Pattaya, because on the Central Beach there is now great depth already a few meters from the coast and there can be big waves.

In the article “All Pattaya Beaches: Overview and Detailed Description” you can find out the location and main features of each of them, their main advantages and some disadvantages. Ultimately, this should help to choose the most suitable for families with children in Pattaya hotel. Many of the resort’s beaches are not so bad in reality, as you can read about it on the Internet, and almost every one of them has a standard set of necessary beach activities that all children in Pattaya will be happy with. However, I still advise at least once to go to Koh Lan Island, because you will get your own idea of the differences between city and island beaches only by visiting both of them. Just remember that you need to sunbathe in Thailand correctly, otherwise your vacation will be ruined.

To Pattaya with a kids: which hotel to choose

Going on vacation with your kids to Pattaya, you must take care of a suitable hotel in advance. Many hot tours, which can be purchased shortly before departure, do not at all correspond to a family vacation with children, because their location in the city center and the absence of their own territory greatly complicates the vacation, especially for parents of children in Pattaya. To understand where it is better to relax with children in Pattaya, I advise you to read the article “Which area in Pattaya to choose for living and relaxing” by clicking on the link.

The best choice for a family holiday would be hotels that have their own territory with a landscaped garden and pool (with a children’s section). As a rule, this ensures that in addition to you and your children, the hotel will also have other couples with children, with whom your children will be interested to play together, which will allow you to take a break from them. To be guaranteed to settle in a good hotel with a swimming pool and its own territory, you should take care of finding it in advance. To do this, you can either book a pre-arranged tour, or book a hotel yourself, using the list of the best family hotels in Pattaya.

Holidays with children in Pattaya: precautions

When planning to relax in Pattaya with a child, it should be remembered that children have less immunity and stamina than adults, so when you relax in hot countries, including Thailand, you should be careful about their health. Ultimately, this will save you from many problems and allow you not to spend precious days of rest on the treatment of completely unnecessary diseases and the consequences of improper rest. By the way, I advise adults and especially children to take out travel insurance abroad, which in many cases allows you to feel more secure, because according to the “law of meanness” all kinds of troubles happen to those who do not have such insurance.

If we talk about other precautions, be sure to take care of the availability of medicines that can be useful for your children in Pattaya and you doubt that you can buy them in Thailand. In general, I advise you to read the article “What medicines to take to Thailand”, which will allow you to collect a balanced and not too heavy first-aid kit, and also warn against possible problems at the border when transporting certain medications.

I think it’s not even worth reminding that for most of the year children in Pattaya will be hot, because Thailand is a country of eternal summer. Therefore, children’s clothing should be light and breathable. The ideal option is to bring along clothes made from natural cotton and linen. By the way, all kinds of cotton t-shirts can be bought in Pattaya at ridiculous prices, so you should not get a lot of them from home. Details about what clothes, shoes and other useful things should be taken with you on vacation can be found in the article “What to take to Thailand for relaxation,” so I will not dwell on this issue.

The issue of food while relaxing with children in Pattaya is one of the most important. Even in the process of choosing a hotel, I advise you to clarify the issue of the presence of European cuisine familiar to children. I think in 95% of cases the answer will be yes, but it never hurts to check. Of course, you should not deprive children of the opportunity to try real Thai cuisine, whose dishes with not too many spices are tasty, nutritious and healthy.

Just do not let the children eat a lot of everything at once, because in this case you will not be able to understand what exactly the child’s body is not quite willing to accept (if this suddenly happens). By the way, this also applies to the fruits of Thailand, many of which do not mix well with each other, so it is better not to try many new species at once. If you are resting in Pattaya with a child, carefully monitor that he drinks plenty of water and other liquids, which will protect him from dehydration under the hot sun.

Going on vacation to Pattaya with young children, there is no need to purchase a large number of baby food, diapers and wet wipes – all this is easy to find both in large stores in the city and in many small stores in Thailand, for example, in the SevenEleven network. I hope this article gave you the necessary answers to questions about relaxing with children in Pattaya and now you know for sure that you can and should go to Pattaya with your kids, because children in Pattaya will certainly find interesting entertainment for themselves. And after reading this article and other articles on this site, you will help them with this. I wish you a pleasant and memorable vacation in Pattaya with your kids

A few days ago, the official opening of the second passenger terminal took place at Utapao International Airport (Pattaya). The opening ceremony was attended by Prayut Chan-Ocha, who is the Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of this country. Before the official opening, all airport services for some time worked in test mode. The main goal of the construction of the second passenger terminal is to increase passenger traffic from the current 2 million per year by 2.5 times in the next five years. The second goal is the development of the region and the creation of new jobs.

The construction of the second terminal at Utapao Airport is part of a large-scale state program for the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor. At the same time, Utapo Airport will become the main airport in the eastern part of the country. In the coming years, this airport, which serves two cities at once – Pattaya and Rayong – will have to be connected to two Bangkok airports using the high-speed railway. After the construction of the new terminal, Utapao Airport should attract even more local and foreign airlines, which will be able to operate regular and charter flights here.

Second Passenger Terminal at Utapao Airport (Pattaya)

Second Passenger Terminal at Utapao Airport (Pattaya)

Currently, flights from Utapao are made by 15 airlines, which perform a total of about 40 flights on 33 routes daily. It should be noted that even before the commissioning of the second terminal, Utapao Airport was able to significantly increase passenger traffic in just a few years. If in 2015 this airport served about 180 thousand passengers, then for 11 months of 2019, 2 million passengers used the airport. Given the beginning of the high season, the airport director is optimistic about the figure of 2.5 million people by the end of this year. At the same time, airport services can serve up to 1,500 passengers per hour.

It is hoped that with the development of the Utapao airport, inexpensive transport will also appear, with the help of which it will be possible to get to Pattaya and from Pattaya to Utapao Airport. For example, regular buses or minibuses. Because at the present time it is still much easier and cheaper to get from Pattaya to Bangkok airport, although it is located much further.

Sai Kaew beach (The Military beach in Pattaya) is one of the cleanest beaches in the area of this resort. This is a great alternative for those who are tired of holidays on the island of Koh Lan and the daily trip there by ferry or speed boat. The Sai Kaew beach is very picturesque and it is no coincidence that it is often called the Blue Lagoon beach. Below on the page you will find useful information about Sai Kaew beach: how to get there independently and as part of a group, open time of the beach and the cost of visiting it. I will also talk about what entertainment is available on Sai Kaew beach and at what price, how much any food and drinks cost in beach cafes, and also show the beautiful territory of the Sai Kaew beach in photos and videos.

Sai Kaew beach (Blue Lagoon) – general information

Sai Kaew beach is not accidentally called the Military beach. Once an USA army base was located here, and today the place is taken by the Thai army. In particular, not far from the beach is the Royal Thai Navy School. As a result, there is access control, and the beach is open to visitors only until 18:00 (with some exceptions). It is the military that keeps the beach clean and tidy, so this beach should remain a place for a long time without large hotels and too developed infrastructure, which does not make it worse. In general, there is everything that is required during a vacation on the beach, and the closed territory has its advantages. For example, annoying merchants and food peddlers do not go along the beach.

Blue Lagoon Beach (Sai Kaew beach) in the morning (tide)

Blue Lagoon Beach (Sai Kaew beach) in the morning (tide)

A feature of the beach is its location on the peninsula between the green hills that form the lagoon. Such an arrangement makes the beach picturesque and to some extent protects from large waves. Visually, the Sai Kaew beach in Pattaya resembles some of the beaches of Phuket: width, vegetation and landscapes. The length of the beach is small – its length slightly exceeds 400 meters, but due to not too many visitors there is enough space for everyone. Before visiting the Sai Kaew beach, I saw his photos on the Internet, but during my visit (2019) the sand was not as white as I was in the video in the photo. Rather, it is light yellow, but this color of sand goes well with the azure water in the Blue Lagoon.

Even in cloudy weather, the water on the Sai Kaew Beach has a nice color.

There was a high tide during my visit, and the width of the beach was not too big. Also, because of this, already 10 meters from the coast there was a great depth (more than 2 meters). Swimming areas on the Sai Kaew beach are fenced with buoys, located not very far from the coast. The best place for swimming is the central and left parts of the Blue Lagoon beach. There is a more gentle entrance to the water and there are no stones in the water. During my visit, some work was carried out on the right side of the beach using a bulldozer, so I personally could not evaluate the beach in that area. In the central part of the beach there is a beautiful sign with the name Sai Kaew beach and two points with heavy machine guns directed towards the sea.

The central part of Sai Kaew beach - beach machine guns

Separately, it should be told about the transparency and color of water on the Sai Kaew beach in Pattaya. I was a little unlucky with the weather, and most of the day in the sky was cloudy. However, even without a bright sun, the water had a pleasant azure color. Of course, in bright sunny weather, the beach looks brighter and more beautiful, because the color of the water is very dependent on the sun’s rays and the color of the sand (on the Sai Kaew beach it is light sand). The transparency of the water was also very good. Perhaps the water is not as crystal clear as on the island of Koh Lan. But it is much more transparent than on the city beaches of Pattaya. And even for this reason alone, it is worth visiting the Sai Kaew beach at least once.

Sai Kaew beach has many flowers and beautiful trees.

Sai Kaew beach has many flowers and beautiful trees.

In addition to clear water, the Blue Lagoon or Sai Kaew beach is a place with a very beautiful territory. There are a large number of flowers, paths for pedestrians, benches. Closer to the central part on the right there are special compositions, next to which you can get beautiful photos. For example, a bench and a flower frame in the form of a heart around, etc. I recommend a walk in this area after 3 p.m, before returning from the beach. At this time, the number of visitors to the Sai Kaew beachh is rapidly decreasing and no one bothers to enjoy the walk.

After 14-30 the number of visitors on the Military Beach has significantly decreased

Sai Kaew Beach – Infrastructure

I did not see classic beach umbrellas on the Sai Kaew beach, but this is not a drawback. Deciduous trees grow on almost the entire perimeter of the coastline, the crown of which protects vacationers from sunlight. If you prefer to be in direct sunlight and sunbathe – you will also find several open areas. In addition, there are many small gazebos with tables. Under the roofs of the gazebos you can also find a shadow, relax and eat your food.

Beach bed and the life ring can be rented very cheaply

There are also no plastic loungers on the beach, but in the central part of the Sai Kaew beach there is a rental point for small wooden deck chairs and other beach equipment. You can rent a beach bed for as little as 30 THB (1 USD), while you can choose your own place to relax in any part of the beach. In the same place where sun loungers are issued, you can pay for other equipment and entertainment:

Kayak rental – 100 THB (3.3 USD) per hour (+ deposit THB 100):

Rent a beach mat – 20 THB per day (+ deposit THB 100):

Rent a life ring – 10 THB (0.33 USD) per hour (+ deposit THB 100):

Riding a banana boat – 600 THB (20 USD) in 30 minutes or 1200 THB (40 USD) per hour;

Jet ski – 1000 THB (33 USD) in 15 minutes or 1500 THB in 30 minutes.

The cost of dishes in one of the cafes on Sai Kaew beach in Pattaya

No one will remain hungry on the Sai Kaew beach, because the local cafes offer a wide selection of dishes and drinks. The main part of the cafe is located to the right of the main entrance to the beach. There you will find a number of cafes with Thai dishes, seafood, freshly squeezed juices, ice cream, fruit necks, snacks and cocktails. Nearby there are outdoor tables overlooking the beach. Further to the right there is a large cafe with tables under the roof. To the left of the entrance there is also an indoor cafe where coffee lovers can enjoy a latte, cappuccino or other type of coffee.

To the left in the far part of the Military Beach there is also a cafe with a very large selection of dishes from 60 THB (2 USD) for a portion of a hot dish. In some establishments, the names of dishes are indicated only in Thai, but there are also those where English and Chinese names are added. Even if you don’t know some indicated languages, large photographs of all dishes will always help you choose what you want. To the right of the entrance there is a small souvenir shop where you can buy T-shirts, caps and other accessories with the Sai Kaew beach logo.

Outdoor shower and toilets at Sai Kaew beach (Military Beach)

Outdoor shower and toilets at Sai Kaew beach (Military Beach)

On the right and left sides of the beach there are free showers (open) and toilets. Toilets are made in Thai style, so there is no toilet paper in them, only a hygienic shower. On the beach you can find a massage parlor (Thai massage), as well as a special smoking area (smoking is strictly prohibited on the beach!). Walking along the beach, you can see small wooden bungalows. These houses are for rent (from 1000 THB (33 USD) per day) and only persons living in the bungalow can stay on the beach after 18:00 and enjoy the sunset on the Sai Kaew beach.

Sai Kaew beach in Pattaya – how to get

The easiest way to visit the Sai Kaew beach (Blue Laggoon) as part of an organized excursion from Pattaya. You can easily find offers on the Internet for 300-350 THB per person. Such an excursion includes a transfer from the hotel or condo to the beach, an entrance ticket to the beach and a return transfer to the hotel or condo. Given that the cost of admission is 100 THB for adults (and 50 THB for children), round-trip fares cost 100 + 100 = 200 THB. This is a good deal, because the cost of a taxi ride even in one direction is much higher (the distance from the center of Pattaya to the Sai Kaew beach is about 30 km).

The driver shows the time of departure from the beach and the minibus number

The advantage of an organized tour is that you do not need to worry about the availability of documents proving your identity (passport, ID or driver’s license). You just ride in an air-conditioned minibus and don’t worry about a few roadblocks, about buying tickets and making passes. In my case, the bus driver simply asked the passengers to line up when we arrived at the parking lot near the beach. After that, he photographed everyone and asked not to linger and be ready to leave the beach at 16:00. This is almost the standard tour time – from 08:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Considering the travel time, I arrived at the beach at 09:20, and I returned to the condo in Pattaya after 17:00.

The route from Pattaya to the Military beach (Sai Kaew beach) on the map

A trip to Sai Kaew beach on your own is a little more complicated, but everything is feasible. As you can see on the map, the main part of the route passes along Sukhumvit Road – the main street of Thailand. The route runs along the coast of the Gulf of Thailand and the cheapest way to do it is on a white passenger pickup truck that travel along Sukhumvit. Be sure to check with the driver if he is ride near turning onto Sai Kaew beach (some began to drive only to the Ambassador City Jomtien hotel and this is sad). Right before the right turn (to the beach) there is an elevated pedestrian crossing through Sukhumvit.

Turn right onto Sai Kaew beach from Sukhumvit Road

Turn right onto Sai Kaew beach from Sukhumvit Road

From turning to the beach directly to the Blue Lagoon, more than 7.5 kilometers and several checkpoints. If you are going to use a motorbike taxi from turning to the beach, or if you were traveling to Sai Kaew beach on a rented motorbike, you must present a passport or other identity document in a special booth based on which you will be issued a pass to the beach. A small booth is located near the turn to the beach, and after another 60 meters there is a barrier where you must present the pass. Next, you should go several mimutes straight ahead and turn left at the fork in the road (there is a road sign). Continue on the narrow road and after a few minutes you will find yourself in a parking lot, next to which there is a building with a ticket office.

To visit the Sai Kaew beach in Pattaya you need to buy a ticket at the box office

To visit the Sai Kaew beach in Pattaya you need to buy a ticket at the box office

After purchasing tickets, you must leave your car or motobike in the parking lot and take a free passenger pick-up to the beach. The winding road to the beach passes through the green hills and sometimes you can see wild monkeys on the road. The return trip should be done in the same order. When you leave the territory of the military base, do not forget to pick up your passport or other document that you left at the entrance. Thus, an independent trip to the Sai Kaew beach is also possible, but without a rented transport it is easier and cheaper to use a ready-made day excursion.

Sai Kaew beach  – my video review

In the end I will add that during my visit to the Sai Kaew beach there were most of the Russian-speaking visitors. At the same time, in my opinion, about 70% of visitors are people of retirement age and children. Because of this, the Blue Lagoon beach was somewhat noisy. In general, the Sai Kaew beach made a good impression and someday I want to visit it again (during sunny weather). Also keep in mind that this place is popular with locals. On weekends and holidays, they massively visit Sai Kaew beach (Military Beach) in Pattaya and arrange noisy picnics there, so it is better to visit the Blue Lagoon on weekdays. Have a nice rest!

Pattaya is well known as a seaside resort and a city of nightlife. But there are interesting sights in Pattaya that you can visit while relaxing in Thailand. The Sanctuary of Truth can be called the main attraction of the city, because it is not just a very beautiful and high wooden temple, but also a place with a special history and energy. On this page I will discuss how to get to the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, about the features of this place and my impressions after visiting. You will also learn how you can buy an entrance ticket to the Sanctuary of Sanctuary at a great discount and additional entertainment that is available in the vast territory of the temple.

How to get to the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya

The Sanctuary  of Truth is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand in the northern part of Pattaya.

Address: 206/2 หมู่ ที่ 5 ถนน Pattaya-Naklua, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150, Thailand.

The working hours of the Sanctuary of Truth: from 08:00 to 18:00 (8 a.m. – 6 p.m.)

You can visit the Sanctuary of Truth on your own (without an excursion). To do this, you must go to North Pattaya (Naklua District). The easiest way to use local passenger pickups, the route of which runs along Pattyaya Nalkua Street. For 10-20 Thai baht (depending on the place of landing) you must drive to Na Kluea 12 Alley and go along this street without turning anywhere (see map below).

How to get to Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya easy (map)

The indicated street makes several bends and along the way you will see wasteland and even a small dump on the left. There are signs to the temple along the way. You can also use the navigator on your smartphone so as not to make a mistake on the route. Move on the right side of the road. There are no sidewalks in many streets of Pattaya, so be careful. If you look at the map of Pattaya, you might think that there is a great distance from Naklua Rd to the temple. But in fact, the high white wall and the entrance gate to the territory of the Sanctuary of Truth are much closer. You will see them without any problems in 6-8 minutes on foot from Pattaya Naklua.

One of the landmarks is the Family Mart store, which is located almost opposite the entrance gate. By the way, if you want to save money, you can buy water or food in this store (there is a cafe and restaurant in the temple, but the cost of dishes and drinks is not the lowest). You can also use a taxi from Pattaya Naklua Rd (40-50 THB per person). From the famous roundabout with dolphins to the Sanctuary of Truth can be reached by taxi motobike for 70-90 THB. From most areas of Pattaya can be reached by taxi for 200-500 THB. The taxi option does not make sense in terms of economy (it’s cheaper to book a tour that includes a transfer from the hotel to the temple and back to the hotel).

Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya – features

The construction of the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya was started in 1981 at the expense of Thai millionaire Lek Viriyapan and is still ongoing by his son (the businessman himself died in 2000). Construction is expected to be completed in 2025. At the same time, the Sanctuary of Truth, which is entirely built of precious wood and will always require ongoing restoration. A feature of construction is that all the connections of the parts to each other are made using wooden dowels without the use of nails. This applies both directly to the walls and roofs of the temple, as well as all internal decorations, and statues. You can see in the temple nails that are not completely clogged and must be removed before the official completion of construction.

After checking the tickets, you should go down to the main territory of the Sanctuary of Truth

After checking the tickets, you should go down to the main territory of the Sanctuary of Truth

The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya has a height of 105 meters and is the largest wooden temple in Thailand and the second tallest in the world. Only the Tianning Pagoda in China has a more impressive height (153 meters). Even if you have not been to Pattaya or Thailand, you must have seen the Sanctuary of Truth in a photo on the Internet or on TV. This is really a very beautiful temple, the enormous size of which can be estimated only nearby or being inside. For example, I swam on the beach near the Temple and saw it at a distance of about 100 meters, but still did not think that it was so big and tall.

The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya needs constant restoration

The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya needs constant restoration

The Sanctuary of Truth is not a traditional Buddhist temple or an exclusively religious building in general. According to the plan of Lek Viriyapan, the temple was originally built as a cultural attraction, which should show an oriental view of our world from the point of view of 4 cultures at once: Thai, Khmer, Hindu and Chinese. Therefore, while maintaining the overall architectural style, you may notice some differences on the facades of the temple. And inside the temple you will visit 4 large halls, each of which is dedicated to the 4 indicated cultures and philosophies of life (mainly Hindu and Buddhist).

The Chinese Hall of the Sanctuary of Truth is easily recognizable by octagonal columns

The Chinese Hall of the Sanctuary of Truth is easily recognizable by octagonal columns

For example, in the Indian hall you can find statues of the gods of the 4 elements: water, earth, fire and wind. You can easily identify the Chinese hall by octagonal columns and bas-reliefs with naked women (although you will see them almost everywhere). In the remaining parts of the Sanctuary of Truth, the columns have a more traditional appearance. By the way, all columns are made of solid trunks of centuries-old trees and decorated with carvings. Each centimeter of the temple is the result of many hours of work by Thai masters, who still continue to work on the territory of the temple. The oldest tree from which a large column was carved and in front of which a small altar with gifts is more than 700 years old.

Altar in the center of the Sanctuary of Truth and columns of centuries-old trees

In the Thai room, you can see large statues of avatars, each of which is dedicated to a specific day of the week. There you can use special tables to calculate your day of the week (although using a smartphone is easier to do). And the main attraction of the Khmer Hall are the statues of the family – a wife with her husband and their three children. There is a ritual that promotes the conception of a child. To do this, you need to rub the child’s hand (you will recognize the right place by shine). By the way, you can ask for a child not only for yourself, but also for other people. And for the health of parents, you should rub the knee of the husband or wife.

Only in the central part of the Sanctuary of Truth there are several altars where you can pray or just think in silence about life. In general, each element and statue in the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya carries a certain semantic load and there are no random elements that fulfill only a decorative role. But it is not easy for a not specialist to understand all eastern religions and rituals. Therefore, if you want to not just look at the beautiful temple inside and out and take beautiful photos or videos, I advise you to use the services of guides (there are inside the temple, including English or other languages speaking ones).

The entrance ticket to the Sanctuary of Truth includes not only access to the temple territory and inside the building, but also viewing a national Thai show. It includes traditional dances (performed by men and women in Thai national clothes) and a classic sword fight of two fighters. Such performances are usually held twice a day: at 11:30 in the morning and at 15:30. The performances are not very long and you can watch it once. After the show, you can take a picture with the artists (you should give a small tips).

On the territory of the Sanctuary of Truth you can ride an elephant and horses

On the territory of the Sanctuary of Truth you can ride an elephant and horses

At the ticket office of the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, and when buying entrance tickets online, you can add some other entertainment. The most popular are horseback riding on special routes, riding in an old horse-drawn cart, riding an elephant, riding a quad bike, a boat trip along the Gulf of Thailand in the area of the Sanctuary of Truth (you can take beautiful photos on the background of the building). As in the case of entrance tickets, buying online through the Klook service (link to the Sanctuary of Truth) makes it possible to save money (the price difference is especially noticeable when buying entrance tickets for several people). You can choose options that include one or more additional entertainment that is available on your date.

Tips Before Visiting Pattaya Sanctuary of Truth

Despite the fact that the Sanctuary of Truth is not a traditional temple (religious building), there are altars inside and many Thais come to the temple to pray. Therefore, a rule has recently been introduced whereby visitors must adhere to a dress code. Your clothes at the entrance to the temple should cover your shoulders and knees, and the neckline of the girls should not be too open. Somewhere in the territory there is a special cape to rent, but it is better to immediately come in appropriate clothing. Also during the tour you should be in a construction helmet. It is issued at the point immediately after the descent along the wooden steps to the territory of the temple. Throughout the temple it is forbidden to smoke and use quadrocopters (drones) for video shooting.

Wear a hard hat when visiting the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya (Thailand)

Wear a hard hat when visiting the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya (Thailand)

I spent about 1.5 hours visiting the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya and it was enough for me. At the same time, I spent about 50 minutes inside the temple, took a lot of photos and shot a video. I arrived at the Temple after 16:30 and did not have time to watch the show. Also, I did not buy additional entertainment and did not go to a cafe on the territory. If you read this article, you have some idea what to expect outside and inside the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya. I went somewhat unprepared and only after that I read about what I saw inside the Temple and what I could pay attention to.

If I went to the Sanctuary of Truth again, I would do it at about 15:00 to have time to watch the show, see the Sanctuary of Truth under various lighting levels, take more time to walk around a beautiful area that exceeds 10 hectares (there are beautiful bridges and several viewing platforms). If I were not alone, I would use the services of a guide, because much of the inside of the temple remained incomprehensible to me. When visiting with children, you can spend some time examining the animals at the local mini-zoo. There are horses, ponies, goats, etc. in it. And, of course, I would save on entry tickets and buy from online.

Statues at the place of fulfillment of desires in the Temple of Truth

A wish-fulfillment ritual in the Temple of Truth (Pattaya)

Near the entrance to the Temple of Truth (from the sea), there are two large wooden statues that hold a wooden crossbar on their shoulders. A bell and a large gong are suspended on the crossbar. And in the hands of statues are special mallets. with which you can hit the bell and gong. On the Internet you can find outdated information that the ritual of fulfilling desires consists of three stages. 1) You need to hit three times on the metal triangle (in order to wake the Buddha). 2) You need to hit the bell three times (to clear your karma). 3) It is necessary to make a wish and hit the gong three times with a large hammer (at this moment you must imagine how your desire is being fulfilled).

During my visit to the Temple of Truth, I noticed that the statues were moved to another place and on the wooden crossbar there are only two objects: a bell and a gong. Accordingly, if you also do not see the iron triangle, the ritual of the fulfillment of desires should immediately begin with blows on the bell. Probably, due to the large number of visitors, the Buddha cannot fall asleep and you no longer need to wake him up. You can see the location of the statue with the gong in this video, which is posted below.

I hope the information about the Sanctuary of Truth was useful for you and now during your vacation in Pattaya you can go to this amazing place by buying a ticket at the lowest price and with an idea of how much time you need to visit, how easy and cheap to get to The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya and what additional entertainment you can find there. Have a good rest and interesting visit!

Pattaya and Hua Hin are Thailand’s seaside resorts, which are located 2-3 hours drive from Bangkok. And more and more tourists want to visit both Pattaya and Hua Hin during one trip to Thailand, because the characteristics of these resorts are completely different. The bustling and cheerful Pattaya cannot boast of clear sea and beaches. And quiet and peaceful Hua Hin is the “royal resort” of Thailand, it has a clean and very warm sea, and many kilometers of white sand beaches. On this page you will find detailed information on how to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin by land and sea, the schedule of buses and ferries in both directions, as well as the cost of a taxi between cities.

Distance Pattaya – Hua Hin

Both resort cities are located in the northern part of the Gulf of Thailand, however, on different sides of Bangkok. As a result, the distance by the land between these cities is more than three times higher than the direct distance on the map. And this makes it somewhat difficult to move from Pattaya to Hua Hin, but mainly when using road transport – buses and taxis. But the use of sea transport – high-speed ferries – fully reduces both the distance and the trip time. More details about each type of transport are below on the page.

Pattaya - Hua Hin - distance and location on the map of Thailand

Bus from Pattaya to Hua Hin – schedule and prices

Traditionally for Thailand, the most budgetary way to move between cities is a regular bus. The Pattaya-Hua Hin route is no exception. Today, there is only one bus in each direction, but the bus schedule is very convenient. As always, you can see the current schedule and availability seats in a bus on your dates in advance using the transport search service in Asia. The bus leaves from Pattaya at 11:00 in the morning and arrives in Hua Hin at 17:00. This means that if you wish, you can swim in the morning in Pattaya and slowly check out of the hotel. And after arriving in Hua Hin, even before sunset, get to your hotel and, possibly, also visit the beach.

The cost of a VIP-24 class bus ride (with soft wide seats) is 510 THB (about 17 USD). The duration of the trip is indicative and, as a rule, the bus arrives in Hua Hin ahead of schedule. Please note that the bus leaves from Pattaya North Bus Station, and arrives at the New Bus Terminal in Hua Hin. This terminal is located near the city airport. To get to your hotel, you must additionally use local transport (pickup), which will cost 100-200 THB depending on the distance (bargaining is always appropriate). The return trip can be done in the same way (you can order a transfer to the bus station in almost any hotel).

VIP-24 bus from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back

VIP-24 bus from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back

Hotels in Hua Hin are quite good and there are many inexpensive options for those who want to save money. And if you want a 5-star resort on the first line, these offers are also available in Hua Hin and the resort town of Cha Am, which is located about 15 km north of the bus station. Using this direct link to Hua Hin hotels, you can find a large number of hotels costing up to 15-35 USD per day. Some of these hotels and guesthouses are located on the first line and these are really attractive offers.

How to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin by ferry

As I noted above, the duration of the trip from Pattaya to Hua Hin by bus is no more than 6 hours (usually less). However, there is a much faster and more interesting way to get to Hua Hin from Pattaya, or to make such a journey in the opposite direction. We are talking about modern ferries, which daily make sea voyages between these cities. If you had a rest in Pattaya and visited the main city pier – Bali Hai pier, you probably saw the necessary ferry there. In this case, we are not talking about old ferries with open decks that take tourists to Koh Larn and which cover a distance of 8 km in 45 minutes.

Modern closed ferries with soft seats run from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back. And these are actually high-speed ferries, because they cover a distance of about 110 km in just 2 hours. The ferry schedule from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back is as follows:

Pattaya to Hua Hin Ferry: 13:00 (01:00 p.m.)

Hua Hin to Pattaya Ferry: 15:45 (03:45 p.m.)

As you can see, the return trip is somewhat longer in duration due to the direction of rotation of our planet. And the ferry that departs at 15:45 from Hua Hin arrives at the Bali Hai pier in Pattaya at 18:00. A ferry from Pattaya arrives at the main city pier of Hua Hin city, which is located in the southern part of the city, next to a very picturesque rock. Since the arrival time is standard, you will not have problems with local transport to get to the hotel in any part of Hua Hin. The return transfer from the hotel to the pier is also not a problem.

Hua Hin to Pattaya Ferry at Hua Hin Pier

Hua Hin to Pattaya Ferry at Hua Hin Pier

The cost of the high-speed ferry Pattaya-Hua Hin and the ferry Hua Hin-Pattaya is 1250 THB (about 41 USD), and this is about 2.5 times higher than the cost of a bus ticket. In general, a sea trip can be very attractive if you are willing to pay more for it than a trip on a VIP bus. But if speed is your priority, then there is no faster way to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin (you can order a helicopter, but this service is many times more expensive).

Taxi from Pattaya to Hua Hin – when is it profitable

You can order a taxi transfer from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back using the transport search in Asia or find a taxi directly in Pattaya. The cost of a trip to Hua Hin from Pattaya will be around 3300-3500 THB. It’s not cheap when it comes to one passenger. But if you divide the cost of the trip by 3-4 passengers, then the price for each of them will be quite adequate (from 850 THB). After all, a taxi transfer is a trip from hotel to hotel at no extra charge. While using a ferry or bus you have to pay extra for a trip to the bus station or to the pier, and then from the bus station or pier to the hotel in the second city. A taxi ride takes about 4-5 hours.

Also do not forget that you can always use various types of transport to travel from Patatya to Hua Hin and back. For example, you can go from Pattaya by high-speed ferry or taxi, and for the return trip use the VIP bus (or vice versa). Such a scheme will make your trip more original and memorable. I hope the information on this page was useful for you and now you can easily plan your vacation in Thailand with a vacation in Pattaya and Hua Hin. Have a nice trip!

In the area of the popular Thai resort of Pattaya in early November 2019, the grand opening of a new theme park took place, which was called the Legend Siam. This grandiose park covers an area of 10 thousand square meters and is divided into three large thematic zones. Like many other entertainment centers in Pattaya, Legend Siam Park is located south of the resort, about 20 kilometers (this is closer than Nong Nooch Park or Ramayana Water Park). The park is open every day for everyone and there are many reasons for visiting it, which are described below.

A visit to the Legend Siam park in just a few hours will allow you to easily get information about the past of Thailand and the present days of this Asian country. The park’s director general during the park’s opening ceremony admitted that there was initially a plan to create another Thai national style water park in the vicinity of Pattaya. However, marketing research unexpectedly showed that Western tourists are more interested in meditation and spiritual practices, and many tourists from China are more interested in the Thai culture. Therefore, the plans were changed and now anyone can find in the park a wide range of cultural entertainments and master the art of meditation.

Entrance to the park takes place through a giant gate, which guards by a huge statues of demons from Ramayana. Then visitors get into the first zone of the Legend Siam theme park, called the “Siam Village”. In this area of the park you can get acquainted with the history of ancient Siam and see with your own eyes the significant architectural monuments of that time. Also here is represented the life of the people of ancient Siam and objects of culture of that time. For example, in this zone there are buildings from the time of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya – the ancient capital of Siam. And one of the main objects is the elephant Erawan and the statue of the deity Indra on his back. Also in the Siamese village a grand parade of elephants is held.

The second zone of the Legend Siam park is called Araya Thai. There is also a large number of recreated ancient temples, including from Ayutthaya. This area of the park has a traditional floating market and a market with a large selection of local produce and Thai fruits. The highlight of this part of the park is the selection of products and souvenirs from all 77 provinces of present-day Thailand. However, this is not just another large market or open-air museum. Widely used modern technology and special effects. You will see interesting scenes recreated using 3D technology, and you can also take part in interactive entertainment (some of which will definitely cause an adrenaline rush in the blood). Here you will see the reconstruction of the battles, including sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat with stuntmen, explosions and other special effects.

The third zone of Legend Siam park is called Bhumi Pan Din and details the revolution in agriculture, authored by the late King Rama IX. It immediately details the achievements of modern Thailand and the development of the Thai economy. Tourists who are interested in local spiritual life can find out more about this in the Bhumi Pan Din area. An interesting feature of the park is the opportunity to visit in a national Thai costume. Currently, there are about 5 thousand costumes, and the planned attendance of Legend Siam Park is up to 20 thousand daily during the high season in Pattaya.

The construction of the park cost investors 4 billion baht (more than 130 million USD). Currently, a simple admission ticket will cost only 350 THB. You can pre-pay for transportation by cpecial train, boats, buffet and some carousels, which are available only for a fee. In any case, even a simple admission ticket allows you to see a lot and it’s better to plan a full day to visit the Legend Siam Park, because in 5-6 hours you can only get around it without watching the show, food and other entertainments. Have a nice rest!

Dongtan Beach in Pattaya is one of the tourist place of this resort with the most controversial reviews and the lack of specific information. There is an opinion that it is a beach for gays and it is better not to visit it at all (if you are natutal). But there are a lot of those who consider Dongtan Beach the best family beach in the resort. It’s time to figure out what this beach is, what are its advantages and disadvantages and whether it makes sense to settle in one of the nearby hotels. About all this you can find out in the detailed review of Dongtan Beach Beach in Pattaya with a lot of photos that you will also find on this page.

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( you can click on the link for quick transition)

Location of Dongtan beach in Pattaya

All the confusion with the location of Dongtan beach in Pattaya is due to the relief of the coastline: the coast of the resort from the alley Soi 5 Pratamnuk stretched for tens of kilometers to the south and is a practically homogeneous sandy strip that does not have any significant bends. There are also no natural and man-made objects such as sand capes, rocks, boulders, ferry piers, etc., along which it would be possible to establish a specific point where one beach ends and the next beach begins.

Even on the most recent maps of Pattaya in English, you will not find the exact boundaries of the three beaches located in this area (Dongtan Beach, Jomtien Beach and Na-Jomtien Beach). Therefore, you can often find information that Dongtan Beach begins near a police post in the Jomtien Beach area and ends already at the famous Pattaya Park Hotel. In reality, Dongtan beach does start at the indicated place (next to the police booth), but it extends further north to Soi 5 Pratamnak, and the Pattaya Park Hotel is located in its central part.

The beginning of a shady alley along Dongtan Beach (Pattaya)

How to get to Dongtan Beach in Pattaya

If you do not live directly in one of the hotels on Dongtan Beach, then you can get there by using various modes of transport in Pattaya. The easiest way is of course to get to the southern tip of the beach. To do this, you can use inexpensive local transport: the route of tuk-tuk (songthaew) in Pattaya passes directly next to the police booth already mentioned in the article. If you are traveling from Jomtien beach towards Dongtang Beach (ie north, towards central Pattaya), you must leave the songthaew in the point, where the route turns from the main street along the sea (Jomtien Beach road) and leaves to the right.

A small cafe on the alley at the beginning of Dongtan Beach

Well, respectively, if you decide to get to the southern tip of Dongtan beach from central Pattaya, you need to stop the songthaew as soon as it turns left and travels along Jomtien beach (you will also see a police post at the corner). If the southern part of the beach is not of interest to you (and perhaps frightening – but more on that below), you can use the Pattaya Park Hotel Tower or Southern Pattaya Bus Station for a landmark, and get down there closer to the central part of the beach and sea. The truth of the time it will take even more than if you had reached the police post.

The tower of the Pattaya Park hotel is an excellent reference point for Dongtan Beach

If you need to get to the northern part of the beach very fast, you can leave the route mof tuk-tuk (sonthaew) at the intersection of Thappraya Rd and Pratamnuk and descend along the long alleys of Soi 5 or Soi 6 directly to the sea. Diostance about a kilometer, so going back this way is not very convenient, because on the way back you will have to go up the hill, and the shadow that can save you from the heat is not special (if it’s a light time of day). In this case, you can use motorbike-taxi in Pattaya, which quickly drives you to the street with route of cheap public transport in Pattaya.

The road from Dongtan beach to Pratamnak street

In cases where you need to get to your hotel in the area of Dongtan beach, for example, from the airport, it is better to see in advance its location on the resort map (links to many maps were higher) and choose the optimal option of transport. By the way, the road from the airport will be more simple if you choose the already mentioned south bus station of Pattaya or an option for 249 baht, which includes a shuttle to your hotel’s doors from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. More information on buses, their cost and the timetable from the airport can be found on the page “How to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya – all options”. Back to the airport is also more profitable to get from the southern bus station of the resort.

Overview of Dongtan Beach beach plots

A characteristic feature of Dongtan beach is a fairly clean sea: the water here is somewhat more transparent than on neighboring Jomtien, although the border between them is conditional. And compared to the Central Beach of Pattaya, you can swim in relatively comfortable conditions. Almost the entire length, and it is about one and a half kilometers by the Dongtan beach, the entrance to the water is quite gentle, at least near the shore, which is convenient for tourists with children. Of course, for fans of crystal clear water and snow-white sand, I recommend trips to the beaches of Koh Lan Island (for a detailed description vith the photo and video you can click on the link).

In the central part of Dongtan beach

Also, the distinctive feature of the beach is the pleasant paved path along the entire length of Dongtan Beach, 50 meters from the water’s edge, which is closed for traffic during the daytime: you can move on foot or by bike). Yes, and night time here is rumored very calmly: occasionally motorbike will pass and that’s all. Those. We can say that the hotels located here are on the first line from the sea, which is not too typical for the resort (almost everywhere between hotels and the beach there is a wide road with traffic).

Casuarina trees on Dongtan beach in Pattaya

Dongtan beach does not presuppose any official division into sections, but it is better for you to have an idea about this. And now more about each of the three parts. I’ll start with the southern part (the one that starts nearby the police post). The length of this site is about half a kilometer, and it is about this part of the beach that rumor goes that Dongtan Beach is a place for rest of people of non-traditional orientation (both gay and lesbian). Apparently, this is so: walking along the specified stretch of beach you can see elderly Europeans in thongs and young Thai guys.

Figured footpaths on the Dongtan beach (Jomtien Pattaya)

At the same time you can see a more young contingent from among the tourists, as well as several families with childrens, for whom you can not say that they are adherents of same-sex love. Rather, it shows that there is no debauchery on the beach and many people may not even know that this part of the beach has such fame. No one will find it shameful that a young Thai guy makes for pensioner or a cute muscular foreigner an ordinary massage in the shade of palms and other tropical trees.

Sunbeds at the water’s edge in the central part of the Dongtan beach

Infrastructure in the southern part of Dongtan Beach is not very developed: there are no cafes and restaurants, except for a couple of small cafes on the alley along the beach), there are no sun loungers with umbrellas, as well as water attractions. Those, this is one of the quietest and quietest places among all the beaches of Pattaya, where people can relax in the shade of trees. Of course, there are peddlers of fruits and drinks, so you will not die of thirst if you rest here. So all those who are not afraid of encroachments on their honor (and apparently are not need afraid of this), you can safely choose this beach area for a relaxing holiday without crowds of tourists and with excellent transport accessibility.

At the beginning of the central part of the beach. The man swallowed whole watermelon ))

The central part of the beach of Dongtan Beach begins in the Rabbit Resort area, and ends at Ban Hard U Thong Condominium. Almost at the center of this stretch of beach is the popular Pattaya Park hotel, the white tower of which has long time been the tallest building in the resort and is still visible from a distance (also available on one of the Pattaya live webcams). Unlike the southern part (“gay beach”), there are everything is arranged for family rest: there are umbrellas and sunbeds, popular water activities (aquabike, banana, boats). There are places for windsurfing. There is also a public toilet (can be visited for 5 baht) and shower (at a price of 15 baht).

A site with water attractions and beach volleyball at Dongtan Beach

Opposite the vast territory of the hotel Pattaya Park with an aquapark and attractions, right on the beach is equipped with a beach volleyball court. Judging by the number of vacationers with children, this is one of the main places for recreation in Pattaya with a child, i.e. In addition to the convenient beach and water park, hotels in nearby restaurants have playgrounds and, perhaps, a more comfortable for babies kitchen in hotel restaurants. By the way, despite the crowded day, in the evenings this area of Dongtan beach becomes quiet and peaceful, so lovers of traditional romance can quietly retire on the beach and enjoy the sunset and the rustle of waves in silence.

In the northern part of the beach is a gently sloping entrance to the water. On the horizon – Koh Lan island

The northern part of Dongtang Beach is the shortest (about 300 meters) and starts next to that place, where Pratamnuk Soi 5 fits almost to the beach itself and ends with a stony mound in the north. By the way, the northern part of Dongtan beach was adapted for rest only a few years ago, but in my opinion, not even to the end (the tracks are laid somehow not qualitatively, there is some rubbish and stones, and on the beach umbrellas and sunbeds were absent). On a rocky ridge in the northernmost tip of the beach, local fishermen like to stand with a fishing rod, and in the evenings it is in this area of the beach that local youth gather and may be a bit noisy.

The northern extremity of the beach is rocky coast and fishing

Hotels on the Dongtan Beach (Jomtien, Pattaya)

If you carefully read everything written above, then, I think, you already know where you need or do not need to settle on Dongtan Beach. If you are not gay, then it’s better not to choose hotels in the southern part of Dongtan Beach. After all, you may experience some misunderstanding with the neighbors in rooms and staff. In general, during the day there should not be any problems on the entire beach, there are a lot of senior citizens of both sexes, families with children. But if you are a natural guy or girl, it is better for you to settle on the Dongtan beach in the central or northern part. But the choice, in any case, is yours.

For example, at Pattaya Park Hotel, especially if you are with children. By the way, the water park and attractions of Pattaya Park are available not only for the guests of the specified hotel, but also for all the guests of the resort (of course, for a small additional fee). Above is a map of this part of the resort with markers of surfing, clicking on which you can see the cost of living in them (the service allows you to find the best price by comparing the cost of the same number in different reservation systems). In this search service you can read reviews about the hotel you are interested in. Also in the area of the beach, but not on the first line, you can find affordable guesthouses, from which to the sea just  5-10 minutes of walking.

Aquapark and attractions of Pattaya Park Hotel

Therefore,if for you very important for saving money and such walks to the sea do not intimidate, I advise you to book the hotel in advance only for 2-3 nights, then to choose on the spot the suitable guesthouse and move into it without problems. Also note that in the beach area between Soi 5 and Soi 6 is the Tesco Lotus store. Of course, this is not a hypermarket, but many products and alcohol, including beer, are cheaper there than in the popular 7Eleven and Family Mart chain stores.

Thus, the Dongtan beach is not such a dangerous place for beach recreation and at least once there you can relax (I myself first visited it only during the 4th visit to Pattaya). Those. The beach can be visited and even live there, just knowing some of its specific features. And the absence of noisy transport by the sea and the presence of an aquapark make this place one of the most successful in the resort for recreation with children. A little later on the page will be added a video from the beach of Dongtan Beach. Have a nice rest!

Due to the fact that the main airport in Thailand is between Bangkok and Pattaya, it makes sense to get to the resort right after the arrival in the country, without visit the capital (unless, of course, her visit is not included in your plans for the first few days of rest). So you’ve arrived at the main airport of the country, saving a lot of money due to the fact that you read earlier article How cheap to fly to Thailand and now you know where you can find most cheap airplane tickets. After passport control you can use two main and repeatedly proven ways: by bus or taxi from Bangkok airport to Pattaya. The plane I do not even consider because distance between Suvarnabhumi and Pattaya only 110 km.

From  Airport Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok) to Pattaya by bus

The easiest way – after the arrival and passage of all procedures you must go down to the first floor Suvarnabhumi Airport (Level 1). Between the outputs of the street №7 and №8 you can find ticket office where you can purchase tickets for a comfortable bus from airport to Pattaya. Costs of this bus – 134 thai baht. The journey time is about 2 hours, and a final stop of this bus from Suvarnabhumi – small bus station on the south Pattaya (crossing of the Thappraya Road and Thepprasit Road). Bus service on the specified route are carried out by Airport Pattaya Bus company. Landing to blue bus of company №389 and disembarkation of it, is near the exit №8, under a canopy in Bangkok airport Suvarnabhumi. Personally, I have used this bus some times in the opposite direction. I made the journey from Pattaya to the airport and I liked it.

Bangkok Airport Bus Schedule – buses from bangkok airport to Pattaya

Bangkok Airport Bus Schedule – buses from bangkok airport to Pattaya

Bus timetable Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya – from the official website of the company (picture is clickable). The site also states that the buses from the Bangkok airport to Pattaya with departure time in 21-00 and 22-00 comes to North bus station, not the South. On the website you can see also actually cost of ticket – Just 120 THB in 2019 year (sometimes prices change, so I remember 132 THB and 124 THB also in previous years). I draw your attention that the schedule may be change (during the low season not 16 flights a day, but can only be performed 10 buses from airport, ie the interval between flights in both directions is increased). The major disadvantage of this method to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya by bus is the fact that in the desired for you time this specified bus can be full (without free places) and you must buy a ticket on the next flight and wait 1-2 hours (depending on time of day).

Also you can use big bus of another company – Bell Travel Service Co. Buses of this company not less comfortable and with this option you get a one big advantages. Firstly, the price includes delivery not only to the Northern Bus Station in Pattaya (near the intersection of Sukhumvit highway and North Pattaya Road), but also on the delivery by minibus directly to the entrance of your hotel. This is very handy when you have oversized baggage and you already know where you are going to stay in Pattaya. Transplant from a large bus to minibus carried out directly on the Northern Bus Station in Pattaya and pay extra at the same time do not need anything. You should not be afraid that because of flight delays or long passport control is likely you can miss your bus. The company promises that in this situation, you can easily get to Pattaya on the first next next bus from Bangkok airport to Pattaya.

Unfortunately, the bus transfer of this company from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya in 2019 became much more expensive. If earlier the transfer cost was 240-250 baht, now you can buy a ticket online for such a bus for 400-420 THB. Maybe it’s still a good option if you are traveling alone. But if you have two or three passengers, it is more profitable to order a taxi transfer from airport and get to Pattaya faster and with great comfort. If you didn’t buy your ticket online in advance, you can try to find free places for the nearest bus to Patatya. To do this, you can contact the representative of the bus company, which is located near gate No. 8 of Level 1 of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

At present, the company said buses depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport from 8-00 am to 18-00 pm, every two hours, ie, in the 08-00, 10-00, 12-00, 14-00, 16-00 and 18:00

The landing place on the bus to Pattaya In Suvarnabhumi Airport

The landing place on the bus to Pattaya In Suvarnabhumi Airport

Another way to make way from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya – public buses departing from the bus terminal near airport. If you want use this way, you can take a free shuttle bus in airport and go 10 minutes to bus station. Bus services to Pattaya performed several companies, so the cost of one ticket ranges from 106 to 250 baht. The first flight to Pattaya goes to 06-30 in the morning and the last – at 21-00. At the same time you must know that cheaper buses with red stripes on the sides, will take you to the North Bus Station in Pattaya, and on the way will make frequent stops, picking up passengers for free. Most expensive as buses for 230-250 baht dovezut directly to the chosen hotel (with a transfer by minibus to Pattaya). I think, more easy way to use Bangkok airport to Pattaya Bus from Gate №8 in Suvarnabhumi.

Transfer from Bangkok airport to Pattaya

The easiest and fastest way to get from Suvargabhumi Airport to Pattaya is by car transfer from the airport directly to your hotel door. As a rule, this service can be ordered on the website of many large hotels in which you have booked a room. The cost of such services for hotels of different classes can vary significantly, so you need to clarify in advance. When you ordered a transfer, after all the necessary procedures at the airport, you can see your taxi driver (when leaving the arrivals hall (2nd floor of the airport), he should have a sign in your hands with your name (surname). You can also always use the best car transfer from the airport, which allows you to pre-book a transfer from Bangkok airport to Pattaya.

You will be spared from long negotiations with taxi drivers at the airport, because you will know in advance the cost of the trip between Bangkok and your hotel in Pattaya. Another advantage of this option is a full-fledged 4-seater car with a roomy trunk. This means that you can make a comfortable trip by dividing the cost by 3-4 passengers, and the price will be the same at any time of the day. Finally, using an international car transfer, you can pay in advance online (partially or fully). This will allow you to avoid exchanging your money for Thai currency at an unprofitable exchange rate at the airport (unless, of course, you have read my article on how you can exchange currency at a good exchange rate at the Suvarnabhumi airport).

Taxi from the airport Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok) to Pattaya

Due to the fact that you can use the buses from Suvarnabhumi (to overcome the distance of Bangkok – Pattaya) only 6-30 am to 22-00 pm, every arriving at night tourist must wait in airport first bus to Pattaya or use other ways.  At first, you can spend the night in the capital (the article How to get from the airport to Bangkok: all ways). But you can find a taxi to Pattaya and sometimes it most smart way. The latter option is more beneficial if you eat in Pattaya not one, but a company from 3-4 people. By the way, because of the placement in the luggage compartment the gas cylinder, some taxi drivers do not take more than 3 passengers with big baggage.

The fare from the airport to Pattaya now stands at 1000-2500 baht. If you want to get there as cheaply as possible, it is not necessary to order a taxi on the counters in the arrivals area (2nd floor), as it is the most expensive option. You can go out on the same floor and negotiate with a taxi driver on their own – a reasonable price in this case 1000-1500 baht (depending on time of day and your bargaining skills). But the most sensible option is -you have to climb to the 4th floor of the airport (departure zone) and try to catch a taxi at the entrance, which was arrival by tourists from Pattaya. Stay long time for taxi there prohibited, therefore the driver will be the most accommodating and the probability to take you by for 1000 baht is real.

Taxi in Suvarnabhumi airport for way Bangkok airport - Pattaya

Taxi in Suvarnabhumi airport for way Bangkok airport – Pattaya

Deciding to take a taxi from the airport to Pattaya, you need to agree on the amount in advance or go strictly by the meter. In the first case you need to immediately specify not only the taxi driver fee for delivery, but also to clarify whether the sum includes travel expenses for the toll road (about 100 baht). If you want to go by taxi meter, also check about the payment of toll road sections and remind to the taxi driver did not “forget” to include the counter (taxi meter). Taxi must arrive take you to the door of the selected hotel.

How to get from Don Muang Airport to Pattaya

Despite the fact that Don Muang now can not boast such passenger traffic as the main airport in Thailand, many tourists come to the country it is through this airport, because here you can buy cheap online flights from neighboring countries. Since a direct bus connection between this airport where almost all the budget airlines (loukost) and Pattaya is not have, you need or just take a taxi (the scheme is similar to that in the Suvarnabhumi Airport, only slightly higher price), or to get cheap way, but with transfers.

Firstly, it is possible to make way from Don Muang Airport on the North Bus Terminal in Bangkok, called Mo Chit. Just do not confuse it with the metro station, to which the bus station about 1.5 km. You can go to bus station from airport by bus A1, which can sit on near the Gate №6. The cost of the trip a little more than 30 baht, only you must say to conductor that you want leave bus on Nothern bus station, because bus stops only at the request and in the final he stop on metro station Mo Chit. Later you go to the ticket office and buy ticket on next bus to Pattaya (costs 134 baht.) The journey takes about 2.5 hours. Buses on this route with 5-00 am to 19-00 pm.

Shuttle bus Suvarnabhumi airport - Don Muang airport in Bangkok

Shuttle bus Suvarnabhumi airport – Don Muang airport in Bangkok

Another option, which allows inexpensive to make way from Don Muang Airport to Pattaya is the following: you must initially go to the main airport (Suvarnabhumi), and then – one of the methods described above. The easiest way to travel between airports are free shuttle bass who work with 5-00 am to midnight. The journey time is 40 minutes, in the shuttle bus have good air-conditioned. Shuttle bus departure from Don Muang is from the arrival area, and Suvarnabhumi Airport shuttle bus comes into the departure zone. Another option: a bus № 554 between the airports. Interval 30 minutes – 1 hour, fare from 34 to 40 baht, the journey takes about 50 minutes (the distance between the airport 50 km).

I hope, the information contained in the article has convinced you that to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya not be a problem even for the beginner independent traveler with minimal knowledge of foreign languages. If you decide to initially see the sights of Bangkok, and only later to go to Pattaya, I advise you to read the article How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya, where I described the most convenient and inexpensive options.

Pattaya Walking Street webcam live

The famous Walking Street Pattaya – is known far beyond the borders of Thailand, therefore view from online webcams Pattaya Walking Street will be interested all those who would like to at least virtually look at what is happening on this street, as well as those who have already visited Pattaya and left there part of their soul. Broadcast from the two new webcams that are installed directly on Walkking Street, began recently, but they have successfully replaced the one camera, which worked before on FLB bar. I sure, new live webcams will be popular for those who at least once watched the city with the help of them.

The first new live camera is installed at the entrance to one of the thematic institutions Walking Street, this street brought worldwide fame. We are talking about an institution Sweethearts A GOGO. The camera is mounted directly above the central part of the street Wolking street, so you can use it all happens on it pretty well see: the glittering signs of neighboring establishments, passing tourists and locals (although in most it is more a thai girls) and city transport Pattaya during daylight days. Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, broadcast from webcams Pattaya on Walking Street starts after 15-30 seconds after the page loads. And the broadcast will start automatically, press do not need anything.

1. Online webcam Pattaya – Walking Street near Sweethearts A Gogo

Like other Webcams Pattaya, new cameras also carry broadcast around the clock webcam Pattaya (with some exceptions). This is the main difference from the previously posted on the web page of the camera FLB bar, which had a limited operating mode: broadcast images began after 01-00 p.m London time (or 08-00 a.m. in California), when approaching the sunset in Pattaya itself, ie, was made by the webcam only in the evening and at night, when the legendary pedestrian street of the city – Walking Street, on which the majority of the most famous nightlife Pattaya clubs, night bars, exotic shows, and A-Go Go, becomes a pedestrian and becomes one of the main epicenters of the night life of the resort.

By the way, during his visit to Pattaya i am specially went FLB bar (the benefit is it is next to Club Insomnia) and noticed that the webcam, which hung over the entrance, do not exist. Those. I hope that maybe it will work a later, but many sites still write about the fact that this camera is just temporarily disabled. The second new Walking street live webcam is located at the entrance to Walking Street Guest House – a place where you can cheaply to stay right on the famous street for a very good for this location price (the central part Walking Street, next to the famous disco Lucifer) . For the price of less than 14 euros for two you get a large clean room, big bed, normal bathroom and free WiFi). Check availability can be placed using the window below the search form Web camera.

2. New webcam near Pattaya Walking Street Guest House

Unfortunately, the new live webcams in Thailand on the Walking Street do not convey a picture of a city street with a sound as previously existed webcam in the FLB Bar. However, if you have visited this street and Pattaya on it, you can easily imagine the music from nearby establishments, transport, sounds, etc. All that allows to further immerse themselves in the atmosphere of this unique resort. Have fun!

Taxi from Pattaya to Bangkok – advantages and disadvantages

I just want to clarify, just in case that this article describes ways to get from Pattaya to Bangkok-city, not to one of the airports of thai capital. For more information about how to get to the Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang, using taxis and other modes of transport, you need read another detailed article How to get from Pattaya to Bangkok airports. One of the easiest ways, allowing all independent travelers to get from Pattaya to Bangkok is a classic taxi in Pattaya. The disadvantage in this method, only one – the higher price, especially if you are traveling alone and are not able to find fellow travelers with whom it would be possible to share travel expenses. Find a taxi in Pattaya is easy, even if you did not know English and, especially, the Thai language.

Firstly, you can order a taxi car in most hotels and guesthouses of resort. Even if you do not live in a luxury hotel, which have is near the parking with a lot of free taxi cars, just tell at the reception about your  need.  You can say three little words, “Taxi to Bangkok” and in 99%  cases you will be offered this service. As a rule, the cost of travel from Pattaya to Bangkok airport, from Pattaya to the BTS SkyTrain line or from Pattaya to one of the bus stations (mostly Eastern Bus Terminal Ekkamai) – will be 1,000-1,500 baht. If from you require more – you can bargain, or look for a taxi elsewhere.

Classic Taxi on the Jomtien Beach Road in Pattaya

Classic Taxi on the Jomtien Beach Road in Pattaya

Also you can find free taxi car in a typical places for this. I mean parking near one of the shopping centers of Pattaya, for example, Royal Garden Plaza or Central Festival, where passengers usually expect a number of taxis or you can order taxi from Pattaya to Bangkok in one of the numerous street points, offering taxi service. In the first case also need to specify in advance the cost of travel and who will pay for toll roads, and the second most often used for trips to the airport and has a fixed cost (but sometimes you can bargain too).

Of the advantages of taxi from Pattaya to Bangkok may be noted his speed (although not much faster than a normal bus), a slightly higher level of comfort and the ability to make way from Pattaya to Bangkok at any time of the day, because you can not use the minibuses and buses from Pattaya to Bangkok at night, when your flight can be early in the morning or in the middle of the night. Keep in mind that taxis in Thailand are usually running on liquefied gas, and gas bottle takes a lot of space in the trunk. Therefore, more than three passengers, especially with luggage, taxi drivers do not want to take.

Transfer Pattaya-Bangkok – easy, quickly and comfortably

Transfer Pattaya-Bangkok may be one of the most convenient options in the event that you are accustomed to plan in advance for all of your expenses and when you are not traveling alone, but with family or a group of several persons. Wanting to use the shuttle Pattaya-Bangkok, you can know in advance the cost of way and cost of additional services. Unlike a taxi in Pattaya, all the cars of the best international Service Kiwitaxi have at least four seats and have full size luggage department for your suitcases or for your backpacks for travel. It is important that when you are traveling in a big company or a family of 5-6 people, you can pre-order the minivan. And it will cost you much cheaper than if you ordered two taxi cars in Pattaya to bangkok or to other place in Thailand.

Transfer Pattaya - Bangkok by Kiwitaxi

Transfer Pattaya – Bangkok by Kiwitaxi. You can select any class of taxi car

If we talk about the additional services that you can order via the website of the company Kiwi-taxi, it is, primarily, children’s car seats – the key to a safe trip for your child. It is also possible to order a car for transportation of oversized baggage (eg bicycle or surfboard). You have the opportunity to order is not a simple budget car, and the car business class or even a limousine. An important advantage is the fact that pay for the service on a transfer Pattaya-Bangkok can be made online – using your debit or credit card. This fact will allow you to avoid extra costs to exchange your currency for money in Thailand.

Benefits of Kiwitaxi does not end described above. You can add the ability to cancel the booking without any loss of money, the ability to change the date or trip time and so on. I sure, one of most important benefits of transfer Pattaya-Bangkok – it is possible to specify your destination. As a result, the driver in advance can to prepare for the trip and he will choose the fastest and most convenient route. Because drivers of classic taxi in Pattaya often people from the Thai provinces and they do not know the streets of Bangkok very good. Therefore you can lose a very long time in the metropolitan traffic jams.

Of course, the use of the best international Service Kiwitaxi is just one of the options that allow you to easily organize shuttle Pattaya-Bangkok. Often, you can order a transfer by this route directly in your hotel. Service fee in this case often depends on the respectability of the hotel, your bargaining skills and the tourist season.

Bus from Pattaya to Bangkok – cheap and comfortable!

One of the most affordable, fast and practical way to get from Pattaya to Bangkok without intermediaries – conventional buses, which from early morning until evening run between the capital and the resort bus stations. In the article “Pattaya bus stations – detailed review” I have already given a description of the objects and methods to quickly and cheaply get to them from different areas of the resort. Therefore, below, in order not to be repeated, i just will give you some advice about  which of bus stations is better to use in a particular situation and the cost of travel from Pattaya to various destinations in Bangkok.

North Pattaya bus station (Bus Terminal to Bangkok)

North Pattaya bus station (Bus Terminal to Bangkok)

If you are going to get to one of the Bangkok bus terminals from Pattaya by bus, your unconditional choice – North Pattaya bus station, where buses depart at once to all of bus stations in Bangkok. You just have to explore any Bangkok map with hotels and attractions, and understand how the area you are interested in most of all, ie, from which of the bus station in the capital, you will be faster and more convenient access to the booked hotel, shopping centers or other object. If not much difference and would still need to use the local transport – the easiest way to get to the Ekkamai Bus Station (Eastern bus terminal in Bangkok), because next to it is the same name BTS Skytrain Station. Some distance by taxi or motorcycle taxi would have to do to get to the BTS Skytrain or subway from Bangkok’s Northern Bus Terminal (Mo Chit bus station).

Ticket offices on North Pattaya bus station (buses to Bangkok and to Koh Samui)

Ticket offices on North Pattaya bus station (buses to Bangkok and to Koh Samui)

Also, this way can be done on foot, having a little along the motorway and going through a rather big Chatuchak park in Bangkok. Southern metropolitan bus station is located in the western part of the city, very far from all subway lines, but the bus station is the best choice when you want to go out from Bangkok to one of the southern resorts in Thailand – Krabi province, on the island of Phuket or coconut island – Koh Samui.

Arriving at the bus station in North Pattaya, you should buy a ticket to one of the three window under a canopy (see. Photo above). Each ticket office sells tickets only to one of bus station in Bangkok, but sometimes one of the banks does not work, then you can buy tickets in the next. As a rule, near the window you can see fare of  bus, as well as the departure time of the next bus, on which by default, and sells tickets. So if you’re ready to go – just give money and specify the number of tickets. If you want to buy a ticket at a later time or on another day – tell about it to the cashier.

The waiting room at the north bus station in Pattaya and buses from Pattaya to Bangkok

The waiting room at the north bus station in Pattaya and buses from Pattaya to Bangkok

The fare on the bus to the Ekkamai bus station and to the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok –  is 124 baht, while the price of the ticket for the bus to Mo Chit bus station – 133 baht. More higher price in the latter case due not only to the large distance of Pattaya, but also travel on toll road (by the way, is now part of the road close to Pattaya reconstructed and expanded, so the movement speed drops significantly). Most of all I like to travel to the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai bus station)- the fastest way and metro nearby, great saves time on vacation.

You can remember that the last bus to Ekkamai Bus Station in Bangkok go in 23-00, bus to the Mo Chit bus station – already at 21-00, and last bus to the Bangkok southern bus terminal – altogether in 19-30 (in latter case i not sure, see table next to the cash register ). By the way, on the same bus station, in the 4th window, which  called Mukdahan (name of the bus company), you can purchase a ticket for the yellow bus to Samui (in the article “How to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui: all options” –  you can read about this bus, about his fare and about his schedule for more details.

One of the ticket office of north bus station in Pattaya + 2 tickets to Bangkok

When you have a bus ticket Pattaya to Bangkok, you can wait for a bus in the waiting room, which is located a little further to the right and under the same roof. There you can buy drinks and snacks for the road, and also you can eat some food as a snack on site (there are a few tables and chairs). Given the fact that the buses run very often, the wait will not be long. Planting is carried out with the platforms to exit gate opens to buses as the latest arrival. In the hall you can see a large electronic scoreboard, which shows information about the departure time of buses, their final destination in Bangkok and side number (the latter is usually imprinted in the ticket).

The buses have a luggage compartment, but the distance between rows of seats is large enough for the free placement of the feet and medium-sized backpacks. To avoid confusion (and in my experience they happen almost every time), remember one rule: in Thai bus the seat numbers indicated on the backside. Many foreigners are not aware of this and take someone else’s place, then the confusion begins. For example, in the photo below, you can think that I’m with my girl takes the place №5 and №6. In reality, we are sitting on the seats №9 and №10, (numbers written on the backside of the back of our seats).

The most budget option: Pattaya-Bangkok by minibus

The most budget way to get from Pattaya to Bangkok alone (not including walking and hitchhiking)  – minibus with price 98 Baht. This type of transport is actively used by local residents, so go to such route minibuses very frequently – every 20-30 minutes. At the same time begin to walk the white Toyota minibus with yellow license plate in the 06-00 am and ends at 20:00 PM. Landing on a minibus Pattaya-Bangkok carried out at the beginning of Walking Street in Pattaya, in the area of South street between Pattaya Walking Street and Second Rd (second street), as well as on the very second the street near a jewelry store Tharuthong Gold Shop. On the map below points of landing respectively marked in red, blue and green.

Map of landing places of minibus Pattaya-Bangkok

Unfortunately, I can not say which of these points is final point, because i used this minibus just in the opposite direction and go out on the Second Road. Logically, it is the ultimate Walking Street, but because the latter is blocked to traffic at 18.00, better to look for minibus to Bangkok in the evening on the other points. Minibus arrives at a small bus station in Bangkok, near the metro station Victory Monument. The location of the bus station, I have already described in detail in the article “How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya: all ways.” Ibid describes the main disadvantages of this transport, because of which I am now prefer to use regular buses, although they are slightly more expensive.

I hope that you read this whole long, but informative article and now you know exactly all the options of how to get from Pattaya to Bangkok, the price of these options, their main advantages and disadvantages. Enjoy your travels!

Northern Pattaya bus station

The main bus station of the resort, located on North Street, 300 meters from the intersection of the latter with the track Sukhumvit. Here you can catch buses to the  three major bus terminals in Bangkok (Southern bus terminal, Northern (Mo Chit bus station) and Eastern (Ekamai bus terminal). Also you can find here buses to the Cambodian border, Yellow Bus (passing buses on the island of Koh Samui) and other flights. Daily you can get to Suvarnabhumi airport from the Northern Bus Terminal on a lot of buses. But due to certain distance of the bus terminal to the main places of tourist accommodation, I recommend to use this Pattaya bus station only in case, if you live in an area of Pattaya Naklua or, in extreme cases, in central Pattaya. Northern Bus Terminal is very compact, but everything you need is available for you on territory of station: ticket offices with friendly cashiers, clean toilets, information boards, even the waiting hall on open air. There is also a mini-market where you can replenish stocks of food and drink before the trip.

Getting to Pattaya Northern Bus Terminal

The exact location of the bus station in the northern city of Pattaya can be viewed on new Pattaya maps, where the object is marked with a special character or sometimes marked on the map as “Bus station to Bangkok.” The easiest way to get to this Pattaya bus station is a taxi, which can be called up directly from the hotel (free to catch a taxi on the street in Pattaya, I personally do not never could). Another option – a trip to songthaew taxi. This is the same ordinary passenger pickup with a driver that you can rent, for a fee agreement that he will take you to express directly to the North Pattaya bus station.

Pattaya – Bangkok Bus Terminal on the Google Maps

As a rule, taxi driver initially require  two hundred or even three hundred baht for a car, but if it is good bargain, it is possible to agree on the amount of 150 or even 120 baht. Option, in principle, not bad, if you are not traveling alone, and if you have heavy suitcases, and you do not want to mess with them, overloading from songthaew to songthaew when traveling to the North Station with transfers. Another option – to arrange a trip with multiple motorbike-taxi, which you can find on the streets of Pattaya sometimes easier than buy your favorite Thai fruit. In this case, the price will be even lower, 50-100 baht (depending on the distance and your ability to bargain), but such an option not suitable in the presence of oversized baggage. On the other hand, personally I saw to the motorcycle taxi drove young couple farang-tourists, while the boy sitting with one hand holding on to the waist of a girl and the second kept voluminous suitcase behind him :). Read more about the motorbike-taxi and taxi in Pattaya can be found in a separate article.

Pattaya Northern Bus Terminal

Pattaya Northern Bus Terminal (Pattaya – Bangkok Bus Terminal)

The most low-cost way to get to the bus station in the North Pattaya is a trip on the route songthaew fixed fee. To do this, you must either be reached on the second street (Second Rd.) For 10 baht to the sculpture “Dolphins” (the intersection of the specified streets with North Pattaya Rd). And then you need go on a going in the right direction songthaew: North Street in the direction of Sukhumvit (i mean the right side from the dolphins, paying another 10 baht). Here we must consider two things: first, for some reason songthaew go on North Street is not regular in comparison with other major streets of the city (I’m almost halfway walked until managed to “catch” this transport. Secondly, be careful near statue of “Dolphin”. The first time, when i did make similar way for get to Nothern pattaya bus station, I got out of songthaew already on the roundabout, slightly distracted, and the result was about 500 meters is not on North street, but on Naklua Rd (Naklua street) which is a continuation of the Second Rd for “dolphin”, but turn little to the right, and knocked me from the right path.

The second method is more expensive (plus 10 Baht), but the time may be faster. You must first get to the highway Sukhumvit (by 10-baht songthaew that go towards the highway on South Street (Pattaya South (Tai) Rd.) or Central Street (Pattaya Central (Klang) Rd.). Next, you need to change your songthaew and walking on the highway in the direction of Bangkok (on the left, if you stand back to the coast of sea). On Sukhumvit road you can use white songthaew (pickup), and the fare is 20 baht. Get off at the intersection of North street and going along it for about 3 minutes, until you see on your right the building with a large metal roof with an inscription in white letters on a blue background: AIR CONDITIONED BUS TERMINAL PATTAYA-BANGKOK (see photo in this article) or read a more information about this Pattaya bus station in article: How to get from Pattaya to Bangkok – all options (section about buses to Bangkok).

Pattaya Bus Station on the Thappraya street

Pattaya Bus Station on the Thappraya street

The path from the North Bus Station to the main Pattaya accommodation areas are usually much easier: at the North Pattaya bus station you can find express songthaew that will take you to Jomtien beach (for 30 baht), or for 20 baht before the Walking Street and Central Pattaya. But as I mentioned earlier, it is often more convenient to use not the main Pattaya bus station, but the small bus station located close to the traditional places of residence in Pattaya – in south part of the resort.

Pattaya Bus Station on the Thappraya street (Thap Praya Rd.)

A small bus station located at the intersection of Thep Prasit Rd. and street Thap Praya Rd. Opposite the famous tower at Pattaya Park. Frankly, if you not see bus near this bus station of Pattaya, it is not so simple understand, that you near Southern bus station, because you can see the usual small square between the buildings. A good reference point for you in this case – a supermarket FoodMart, located across from the bus station area. By the way, the store prices are slightly higher than 7/11 and hypermarkets, however, in this store you can find many familiar to Europeans Products: wheat bread, pickled vegetables, cheese from Holland, salami from Germany and other products which you never not find in usual thai shops. Here you can stock up exotic fruits to be transported in the plane home, if you could not do it sooner. Prices are not the lowest, but in fact still at the airport in 2-3 times more expensive …

Bus Station for Bus №389 on the Google Maps

Inside the station you can find ticket office, where you can buy tickets to Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport. It was on this bus station arrive and depart from here buses to Airport Suvarnabhumi (buses of company Airport Pattaya Bus, about which I wrote in the article “How to get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya – all options!”. Inside the compact waiting room of a few rows of seats, as well as a few benches for passengers outside, along the walls and next to the exit. Inside the bus station are free scales, with which you can know the exact weight of your luggage and not have to worry about exceeding the allowable weight of baggage at check-in. hanks to the successful location of the bus station on the Tapprayya street, you can easily and cheaply get to it from anywhere in the city. On this street, right next to the bus station, the route passes the passenger pickups (songthaew) for 10 baht, which go from the area of Jomtien Pattaya in Central Pattaya.

Located in Pattaya, this bus station (although it is rather small bus station of one of the thai bus companies) close to Sukhumvit Road, 100 meters south of the junction with Central Pattaya Rd. When you walking on the Central street and went out on the highway, turn right and walk little bit. Facade of a small building of the bus station with a canopy over the platforms goes on Sukhumvit, between Sukhumvit 57 and Sukhumvit Pattaya 59 Pattaya (these streets are already behind Sukhumvit Highway, ie in the area of East Pattaya, ie, you need to cross the road.

How to get from Pattaya to Koh SamuiMethods that allow to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui, worry many travelers who initially plan spend several days or weeks in Pattaya, and then they wish to diversify your vacation and spend some time on the coconut island of Koh Samui, which is in many respects very different from Pattaya. In this article, I examined in detail some basic and most convenient way for travelers moving between the resorts. Just note that you can always get to Koh Samui from Pattaya with comfort and for relatively little money. Also in the article, you can find information about the approximate cost of transport to be used and the schedule of the different modes of transport, which will allow you to quickly and inexpensively accessible from Pattaya to Koh Samui.

[ad#trans] In order to get to Pattaya from Koh Samui you can use multiple modes of transportation, but in any case you can not use only surface transport, because Samui – is the island in the Gulf of Thailand. Therefore, you have to use, or aircraft, or ground transportation + the ferry. The most popular way to tourists which allows for a reasonable price to overcome the distance between the resorts – is a big bus. The direct distance between Pattaya and Koh Samui is about 400 km, but due to the fact that these resorts are located a bit from different sides of the Gulf of Thailand, overland distance between them increases slightly, which correspondingly increases the time spent in transit. Since the ways to get from Bangkok to Koh Samui are described in a separate article here describes the options that allow you to get to this tropical island directly from Pattaya.

How to get to Samui from the Pattaya by bus

Yellow bus from Pattaya to Koh Samui

Yellow bus from Pattaya to Koh Samui

The easiest and most affordable way to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui – Yellow Bus  from the company Mukdahan. Every day bright yellow buses depart from Pattaya on the tropical island of Koh Samui. Bus company has several bus services per day in both directions. Note that Pattaya is not the first starting point, therefore you need   bus route called Rayong – Koh Samui (Rayong – Koh Samui) – just such an inscription you can  see on the sides of the windshield on modern yellow buses, plying on this route.

Since the bus schedule from Pattaya to Koh Samui may change by the time, when you decide to use them, I recommend you see the actual schedule on the official website of the bus company, where you can immediately see the date and at the moment the price. For the general understanding of where and what to look at, below is a screenshot of the article from the routes schedule from Pattaya to Koh Samui (yellow frame allotted departure time from Pattaya, route number and cost of travel.

At the moment (same as several years) routes performed three times a day. According to the current schedule, the departure of public bus from Pattaya to Koh Samui carried out at 16:30, at 18:30 and 20:30 local time. The cost of travel by July 2016 is from 751 to 1188 THB + cost of the ferry to the island.  Why such a desynchronization in the cost? It’s simple: one bus, and place in it are divided into classes as in airplanes. In the bus 20 standard seats (at a price) and 6 VIP seats that are almost 1.5 times more expensive.

VIP seats are located in the front of the bus interior and offer a higher level of comfort: wider and more comfortable seats with electronic adjustment, the availability of multimedia systems with the ability to view videos, listen to music and playing computer games. Must you pay for it all – only you have to decide, just keep in mind that the duration of the trip from Pattaya to Koh Samui is more than 12 hours and can be somewhat tedious for those who can not sleep in a normal bus seat.

Yellow bus from Pattaya to Koh Samui - schedule and price

Yellow bus from Pattaya to Koh Samui – schedule and price

The fare Pattaya – Samui include dinner during a stop on the route (a bottle of water or juice and biscuits). Also, all the passengers are provided blankets, with which you can protect yourself from the cold air conditioner. Choosing the first flight, which departs from Pattaya to Koh Samui at 16:30, you should be prepared that the bus takes you not to the ferry pier, but only to Donsak town. Next you will need to use local transport that will take you to the ferry pier. This means that you will need to spend a little extra money. Ferry pier has in the same town(Donsak), but at a certain distance.

Bus routes departing from Pattaya at 18:30 and 20:30 will bring you directly to the ferry terminal, where you will have to pay 150 baht for the very ferry to the island of Koh Samui. As a result, directly on the island you will find yourself around 9:00 and 11:00, respectively. The ferry arrives at the port of Nathon, which is located in the northwestern part of the island, not far from the administrative center of the resort (or “capital of the island,” as it is called) of the same name Nathon.

I advise you to buy tickets on selected yellow bus in advance, at least 1-2 days, because this direction very popular and in the day of departure all the seats are occupied in the bus very often. The desired bus leaves from the Northern Pattaya bus station, which located in the district of Pattaya North street. How to get to it can be found in the corresponding article on the site. You can also just take a taxi and say to  taxi driver the destination as “Koh Samui Bus Station”. Tickets for the yellow bus to Samui you can buy in ticket office №4 “Mukdahan”. In the article “How to get from Pattaya to Bangkok – all options!” you can see photos of the North Pattaya bus station and ticket office for bus to the island of Koh Samui.

How to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui by plane

The second option that allows you to overcome distance between Pattaya and Koh Samui –  in much less time and significantly a lot of money – flight Pattaya – Samui. Flights on the specified route makes Bangkok Airways airline and the flight time is only 70 minutes, ie, 1 hour 10 minutes. When you want to flight to Samui from Pattaya, you need go to Utapao airport near Pattaya. Planes not very big and scheduled flights are made only once a day, at 17:15 or 17:20 (depending on the season).

Just a reminder that this information relates to the direct flight Pattaya – Samui. There are several flights with a transfer on Phuket island, but these flights are not very comfortable because of the increase in travel time (of 4 hours or more) and, as a rule, much greater ticket price. If we talk about the price of a direct flight, it is on average from $ 110 and up for a one way ticket. Accordingly tickets per person in both directions will cost not less than 7,800 baht, that is more than three times more expensive compared to the price even VIP tickets for the bus.

[ad#avia]

Actual  information about the flight schedule Pattaya – Samui can always be found by using the search form located above. By the way, my little personal observation may allow you to save some money on the way from Pattaya to Koh Samui. Everyone knows that the cost of round-trip tickets are usually much cheaper than the cost of purchasing separate flights: one way + one way. In the case of flight from Pattaya to Koh Samui, is sometimes not the case, and buying return tickets alone can save sometimes up to $ 20. Someone will laugh with this economy, but I personally believe that at any level of income to save money is not superfluous, especially in Thailand.

And since we are talking about the economy, I think it is worth mentioning that if you choose a flight to get to Koh Samui from Pattaya, you must plan and travel expenses to Utapao airport (U-Tapao airport). When you try to take a taxi in Pattaya, you will require a 700 baht, and even with a very good trading, this amount not will be much lower, although the journey time is less than 50 minutes from the center of Pattaya. If we add to this the amount that would be required to move from Samui airport to the city, you will find that even without the airfare of Pattaya – Samui path already will be more expensive than a standard bus ticket.

I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from air travel, as someone probably thought. Just I specify all the nuances to some additional costs, because those costs sometimes become an unpleasant surprise for those who have limited vacation budget in Pattaya and Koh Samui. Here you can still recall that when you use the night bus from Pattaya to Koh Samui, you can save on accommodation at the hotel. Because you sleep in the bus. And this economy just enough for a bus ticket. At that time, such as when using air travel you should have to spend the night on the island (to be occupied at the hotel on the same day).

How to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui by plane - Utopao airport

How to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui by plane – Utapao airport

Return flight from Samui island to Pattaya (or rather to Utapao airport) is performed in the morning at 11:10 or so and arrives in Pattaya at 12:30 (return flight longer on 10 minutes). Check their schedule again, you can use form searching flights, placed higher on the page or in the right-side column of the site, where you can also find hotels with best prices in Pattaya, Koh Samui, and elsewhere in the world, comparing the prices of one and the same number in the best booking systems.

Another point: despite the fact that Utapao is a domestic airport in Thailand, it is better to come to him in advance. Because in addition to the airline Bangkok Airways, which makes flights to Koh Samui and Phuket, this airport has a military purpose. On the territory you will notice fighter Thai Air Force, at a checkpoint run by the military, etc. Because of this fact when planning the arrival in Utapao better to order a taxi from the airport in advance, as there is little passenger traffic, and a closed area, so finding a taxi on arrival can be difficult.

[ad#trans2]

More cheap flights from other airlines to Koh Samui route can be found from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. However, this is again a topic for another article, the reference to which is given in the beginning of this article. There are in addition to buses and airplanes will be considered an interesting option for many – a trip to the island of Koh Samui on the train. I hope the above methods that allow access to Samui from Pattaya, will help you overcome this path with the comfort and the best method for the selected price! There is also information that the Thai authorities are planning to organize a ferry directly from Pattaya to Koh Samui. But if this ferry will be – I will write about it in the pages Thai-Rest.com later.

Wongamat beach in Pattaya - big review

Wongamat Beach in Pattaya (also Wong Amat beach) located in the northern part of the city, considered one of the best beaches in the urban area of the resort. And thanks to the fact that to get to it is not too convenient (due to lack of nearby routes tuk-tuks (songthaew), this beach is usually chosen as a place of quiet rest especially those people who live near it. Therefore you can meet guests of respectable hotels (which located nearby this beach) and residents of expensive multi-story condominiums, which were built near the beach in Wong Amat Pattaya in recent years. However, the beach is pretty good and every traveler in Pattaya can easy visit Wongamat beach for free. So in this article I will make it a true review and tell you about easiest way to reach it from different areas of Pattaya.

[ad#res]

How to get to the Wongamat beach in Pattaya

As already mentioned above, Wong Amat beach is located in the northern part of the city, in an area of Pattaya Naklua. Accordingly, in order to get to the beach of this, you need to initially get to the this district. Option with a classic car taxi in Pattaya, where you can reach them at any point of the city directly to the desired beach, I will not even considered, because there everything is clear: negotiate, haggle, come up on the beach itself and pay the agreed amount. If you need more options for the budget, it is necessary to use public transport, as well as motorcycle taxi, or at all to do part of the way on foot.

Wongamat Beach in Pattaya on the map - how to reach

Wongamat Beach in Pattaya on the map – how to reach

To avoid repetition, I will not describe in detail the routes of public transport, which are detailed in the article “Public transport in Pattaya: routes of songthaew and fares.” Here I note only that fare which is needed to get to the sculpture “Dolphins”, located at the intersection of Second Road with North Pattaya road and with Naklua street, will be from 10 to 30 baht. Ie direct drive or 1-2 transfers on the way to the end points of the routes accordingly. Point with “dolphins” you can see on the map of songthaew routes, which is also available in the article about the public transport of the resort (link above). If we talk about the color codes of routes, it will be the intersection of the “green”, “burgundy” and “yellow” routes.

Pattaya Naklua - typical lane in district

Pattaya Naklua – typical lane in district

When you’re next to the “Dolphins”, you can drive a few hundred yards of the public songthaew (tuk-tuk) to the street Pattaya Naklua, but no special need in this, so I prefer to save money and do all the way to the beach on foot (if not too hot weather and there is a good mood)/ Also near “dolphins”  you can  use one of  motorbike taxi  and go to Wongamat beach in just a few minutes. The second option is easier and cost you 30-40 baht per person one way. Motorbike taxi better to look not just at the crossroads with dolphins, but little bit passing on the street Naklua to the north, at the crossroads with the alleys, which are directed towards the sea.

High-rise buildings near Wong Amat Beach - an excellent landmark!

A little more complicated, but sometimes more interesting and healthy way to get to the beach of Wong Amat  from “Dolphins” – walking tour. When you will going along the street with name Pattaya Naklua to the north, you will notice that the alleys (Soi) go towards the sea. True, you must know that some of them dead-end and end at the gates of reservation, so to save time, it is better to fold the left or on Soi 18,  which is the second name of Soi Wongamat, and that takes you directly to the eponymous beach (in its southern part), or Soi 16/2, which is located just to the north. If you choose the second option, you’ll have to walk around a large and beautiful territory of  Centara Grand Mirage Hotel.

View from the sea to the building of the hotel Centara Grand Mirage near Wongamat beach.

View from the sea to the building of the hotel Centara Grand Mirage near Wongamat beach.

The second way longer, but at least once you can walk and, at the same time to admire the beautiful and a lush tropical greenery territory of the hotel Centara and some other 5-stars hotels in Pattaya, if is no money (or desire) to stay in those hotels while relaxing in Pattaya . Walking from “dolphins” to Wongamat beach in Pattaya takes about 15 minutes. As a reference point other than the beach stands a complex of high-rise buildings of the district (pictured above). You have to remember that usually Soi 18 is the fifth lane from the “Dolphins” on most tourist maps Pattaya. But in reality, on many cards often are not marked several small lanes, so Soi 18, this will be (if I am not mistaken in the calculation) Only 7 left turn, and Soi 16/2 further more..

Review of Wongamat beach in Pattaya

Wongamat beach in Pattaya - nothern part

Wongamat beach in Pattaya – nothern part

On my photos and videos from Wong Amat Beach, that placed in this review,  you will notice that nature is not very bright, and the color of the water is not too pleasing to the eye. This is explained primarily by the fact that i made video and photos in the afternoon, a few hours before sunset. The sky was covered with mist, and an hour after a small rain. In bright sunny weather, the beach is a bit more attractive and picturesque. By the way, to see the Wongamat beach online at any time, you can use one of the webcams Pattaya online, that is available on a separate page. Better views, of course, in the daytime, although the camera and works around the clock.

Wongamat beach in Pattaya - view to nothern part

On Wong Amat Beach in Pattaya there are a sufficient number of sun beds and umbrellas, although there are some areas where they are intended for the guests nearby hotels. Typically, these beds, “not for everyone” higher quality (bit newer and more comfortable) than conventional plastic sunbeds, which can be found at most resorts in the country. The cost of conventional lounges on the first line from the water is 100 baht per day. Discount does not provide for a shorter time. Unfortunately, i did not specify the value of a little further away from the sea, sun beds, as their own do not like to use it. But in view of the neighborhood luxury hotels and the fact that these series there are so few, I doubt that you can find the beds at a lower price. If someone know specific information about this issue – please write in the comments.

View of the northern part of the beach Wongamat Pattaya from the sea

View of the northern part of the beach Wongamat Pattaya from the sea

All Wong Amat beach is divided into areas for swimming (fenced around the perimeter of buoys) and an area for mooring speedboats, which deliver guests of luxury hotels to the beaches of Koh Lan  island. Amount of speed boats little bit and they infrequently approach to the beach, therefore I swam there, and there. Little difference was observed in the water quality. In areas for boats are also present aquabikes (jet skis), which can be rented. In some places it is possible to ride on a banana boat. Log into the water pleasant, the beach is dominated by yellowish sand, because of which the color of the water is not as beautiful as the beaches on the island with white coral sand. As you can see in the photo and video, the water at the average level of transparency for Pattaya, possibly due to the fact that recently passed the rain because before this parameter on the beach Wongamat pleased me more.

[ad#res2]

Periodically by sunbeds are hawkers food (fruit, fish, shrimp, corn, etc.) and the sellers of some things, which can come in handy for tourists (sunglasses, coconut oil and aloe gel, scarves, electronic cigarettes, etc.). Generally, the beach is quiet and peaceful, because there is no nearby roads with constant traffic. The tranquility broken only by the already mentioned speedboats and jet skis, but sometimes they subside. Shortly before sunset beach is rapidly emptied. Workers cleaning the beach chairs and pulling ashore all of jet skis. By nightfall, the beach (also how others beaches of Pattaya, with the exception of central beach), it becomes almost lifeless. In general, for a city beach of Pattaya,  Wongamat beach quite good, and some discomfort associated with lack of direct songthaew routes, offset by peaceful and quiet environment, a small number of tourists and the relative cleanliness of the beach. I wish you a pleasant stay!

How to get from Pattaya to PhuketPattaya and Phuket in present time are most popular resorts in Thailand. So the question is: “How to get from Pattaya to Phuket or vice versa” – of interest to many travelers. This is due to the fact that the above resorts have much in common, but at the same time, Pattaya and Phuket have a lot of significant differences from each other (various seas and oceans, other beaches and some entertainment, etc). It is not surprising that many tourists in Thailand and want to go there, and there during a one visit to the country. This article describes the main ways to get from Pattaya to Phuket and back, and also contains the fares of such methods.

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( you can click on the link for quick transition)

[ad#trans]

Flights from Pattaya to Phuket

Probably the quickest way to overcome the considerable distance between the resorts – the use of a direct flight. You must know that direct flight from Utapao Airport Pattaya Phuket International Airport takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, and the return flight lasts about five minutes shorter. Since direct flights offered by only one airline – Bangkok Air, rely on low prices is not necessary.

The average cost in any direction from the flight is about 2,800 baht ($ 80). In this case (as in the case of flights from Pattaya to Koh Samui, which are explained in the article “How to get from Pattaya to Koh Samui: transport and fares”) you not get saving by purchasing a ticket immediately to both parties. Those this mean that flight cost to one side is approximately half the price of a round-trip ticket. But if you prepare for the trip in advance, you have the opportunity to buy tickets at a discount. Then the fare will cost you about half the size. Those. the flight price to both parties is almost equal to the cost of travel between the resorts on the VIP bus.

By the way, for those who do not want to go back to Pattaya to Phuket later to fly home from the capital airport, it makes sense to return flight from the island to do directly to Bangkok. Especially considering the fact that Bangkok Airways flies to the main airport of the Thai capital – Suvarnabhumi,  from where also flights committing virtually all reputable airlines (not regional low cost airlines, but airlines flying over long distances).

[ad#avia]

If you want  find the cheapest flights from Pattaya to Phuket or the reverse route, I suggest you use the search form posted above, where you can find agents price which coincides with the valuable official airline (+/- $ 3). I advise you to check both options and buy where it is cheaper. There are also flights with transfers, but their use can not be considered reasonable and convenient: the price is often higher than that of direct flights and the travel time can be up to 12 hours (although there are flights with transfers for 2.5 hours).

Bus from Pattaya to Phuket – more cheap way!

Not everyone knows that Pattaya and Phuket have long time direct bus links. Those to get from Pattaya to Phuket or make the return journey, it is not necessary to transplant in Bangkok. The latter option also has the right to life, and many of them are active travelers, but mostly because of the lack of information on the direct flight, or because of lack of availability of such a direct bus, which allows access from Phuket to Pattaya, or vice versa.

The fact that the buses connecting Phuket and Pattaya with Bangkok bus stations, walk daily and punctually, so buy a ticket on one of these buses can be directly at the departure day without any problems. But  the bus, which goes directly from Pattaya to Phuket and the reverse route from Phuket to Pattaya – makes only one flight per day in each direction. So buy the tickets for this bus you need in advance, especially during the high tourist season.

The desired bus route under the number 777 provides Sawasdee All Thai Co bus company. Route length (distance from Pattaya to Phuket) – not much is not enough 1009 km, so the duration of the trip is 14 hours. Buses from Pattaya and bus from Phuket Bus Terminal leaves every evening at 06:00 pm, and arrives at the final destination only in 08-00 am. The trip takes a lot of time, but on the other hand, the night bus allows you to save money, because when you ride the bus, you do not have to pay for the hotel in this night.

By the way, if you are really interested in a good saving, you can always find the hotels at the best prices with the help of the widget, which placed above. Smart search from all the hotels reservation system (booking.com, agoda.com, hotel.info, ozon.travel and many others) and automatic price comparisons of numbers will always give you the chance to choose the best option at the best price, which is always finite.

Now, about the price of a direct bus service between the resorts. I will write about two ways that allow you to buy tickets. Price is a little different, so read carefully and choose a more convenient option for you. First option – order tickets directly at the bus company. In this case you need to call to office to order tickets for the bus. You can call: 082-398-1777 (Pattaya) and 082-398-0777 (Phuket). In this case, the cost will be as follows: 920 THB for a place in the 1st class (in the bus 36 such places).  If you want more comfort, I advise you to choose the place of the VIP (wider seats, which is more convenient to sleep during long trips).

Bus from Pattaya to Phuket - official fares

Bus from Pattaya to Phuket – official fares and a detailed bus route

Every bus have only 6 VIP seats. Tickets for the VIP – places that differ from the usual broad and well-reclining seats with more legroom, and often the presence of an individual entertainment system) cost 1226 THB (if you order  in bus company). Despite the higher price, namely VIP seats are bought in the first place, because the overpayment of $ 9, for many people, especially tall people is negligible. The rest is all the same bus, and whatever option the passenger has chosen not to, at the destination, he will arrive at the same time.

The second option – the purchase of tickets for the bus from Pattaya to Phuket online. This option is simpler and deschevle. You need to use the search form located below, enter a starting and destination station (Pattaya and Phuket or vice versa), and select the desired date. Then you just have to click on the big button “Find tickets” and choose the most convenient option for you. On the search results page usually offers first flights and below – bus from Pattaya to Phuket. There you can also select seats in the 1st class, priced at 867 THB or VIP seats for the price of 1141 THB. Then everything is standard: fill in personal information and pay using a credit card or PayPal. By the way, this search service often helps find the best prices for transport, not only in Thailand but also in all of Asia.

By the way, this search service often helps find the best prices for transport, not only in Thailand but also in all of Asia. Important Note: If a bus on the Phuket-Pattaya route goes from the new bus station in Phuket island, ie all in general, predictably, that in the administration of Pattaya is necessary to remember that the place of departure of the bus is not one of Pattaya bus station. You need find bus stop in front of the Northern Bus Station in Pattaya, on North Pattaya Road, close to the bus company office. A good guideline is a logo crimson color on the building with a distinctive number 777 (number of route Pattaya-Phuket).

How to get from Pattaya to Phuket and back by car

In car trip from Pattaya to Phuket or in the reverse direction will likely be interested travelers, who prefer to move around the country on their own and not depend on the schedules of public transportation. The best route for the movement runs through a number of Thai cities, which, if desired, can also be visited on a short visit. For example, a young resort Cha-am near the town of Hua Hin, which is distinguished by the color of the sea is always beautiful (can be seen on web cameras online in Cha Am (Thailand)).

The best route to travel for you easily pave Google Maps, and rent a car at the best price service from Rentalcars, which compares the value of similar vehicles in the best rolling offices, thus allowing to save on travel. Also large selection of rolling offices is convenient because the rental car is not necessary to pass at the same point where the rent was made. This allows you to optionally pass the car in Phuket, Pattaya rent it, or vice versa, and to get back on public transport.

Rentalcars.com INT

I recall that the article does not consider ways to get from Pattaya to Phuket or back through Bangkok, because detailed information about this can be obtained from the individual articles “How to get from Pattaya to Bangkok – all options!” and “How to get from Bangkok to Phuket». Also I remind you that to get to Phuket from Pattaya on the train, even with a change in Bangkok, will not work, since there is currently no railway on this route.

Finally, from Pattaya to Phuket taxi will cost so expensive because of the large distances that this option only makes sense if you are afraid of flying. In this case, I advise you to use Kiwitaxi service where you can learn in advance the cost of travel by taxi from Pattaya to Phuket and choose a car class you want and numbers of passengers, as well to order additional amenities that you may require during the trip from Pattaya to Phuket.

how-to-get-from-pattaya-to-bangkok-airportsWhen you want to get from Pattaya to the airports of Bangkok, you need to use either a taxi or the special bus. Of course, it is easier to get from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is located just 120 km from the resort, ie even closer than distance from Pattaya to Bangkok. Slightly more complicated way will have to be done from Pattaya to Don Muang airport, but in the second case, the path also can be easy and inexpensive if you know the several ways to get from Pattaya to Bangkok airports. With regard to the aircraft, the flights from Pattaya to Don Muang Pattaya is not provided, because of the close distance use of the aircraft is impractical.

Bus from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi airport

Definitely, the easiest and most affordable option to get from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi – take the shuttle bus, which goes along with the approved schedule from Pattaya bus station, located in the southern part of the city. You can read article “Pattaya Bus Stations – review of all bus terminals” for details about how to get to this bus terminal (actually a small bus station). The fare is 134 baht, as bus follows the toll road. Fee for pre-sale is not provided, and clicking on the link, you can view the schedule of the bus. You need find a first picture on this page and see a second column with bus schedule (labeled “From Pattaya”).

The ticket can be purchased for a few days before the departure of the bus to the airport (at least I do so), but I think that even on the day of departure is not a problem as the bus runs frequently and there generally remain free seats. Please note that the ticket is non-refundable (No Refund), so carefully think over the time of departure to the airport in advance and not be late for your flight. And you can easily miss if not accurately calculate the time required to travel to songthaew (tuk-tuk) during rush hour, when traffic on certain routes of songthaew in Pattaya almost stopped because of traffic jams.

Bus ticket from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi for 134 baht

Bus ticket from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi for 134 baht

The duration of the trip is about 1.5-2 hours (the last option – if it enters the plug in Pattaya), and the bus drives up the passengers to exit №7 in the departure  zone (4th floor Suvarnabhumi Airport). Baggage Allowance on the bus – free of charge (although correct to say is included in the ticket price), and before boarding you will get from the driver special luggage receipt indicating the number of pieces of luggage. Later, upon arrival at the airport, upon presentation of receipts, employees of the bus company (the driver and the representative) will give you your luggage. Next to the bus, you can just take a trolley Airport, by which is very convenient and easy to move around the airport even with heavy suitcases or with your backpacks for travel.

Slightly more expensive version with a bus from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi – transfer to Bell Travel Service Company, of which I wrote in the article “How to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya.” You can book a transfer directly from your hotel door on the official website of the company. The cost will be 250 THB when ordering and paying online. At the same time the doors of the hotel to the bus station in Pattaya you will be taken to the minivan, and already at the airport will be taken on the big  bus. Earlier also it was possible to book a ticket in Don Muang for 245 baht, but some time ago this service was suspended.

Bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport from the South Pattaya bus station

Bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport from the South Pattaya bus station

The advantage of this method appreciated by those who find it difficult to get to the bus station south of Pattaya with their suitcases, while making several changes when moving to the tuk-tuk. Buses of this company depart from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi 06-00, 09-00, 11-00, 13-00, 15-00, 17-00 and 19-00. Of course, the check-out will be used for at least half an hour. Other options to get from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi (eg, via Bangkok) on the bus is also available, but in my opinion they do not make sense, because more difficult and expensive. They have meaning only in the case where you definitely need to visit Bangkok before returning home.

Taxi from Pattaya to Bangkok airport

Option with a taxi is a good choice when you have large suitcases when you do not like to use buses and, especially, by trip tuk-tuk in Pattaya, with the help of which you need to get to the bus station. Another option, in which the taxi car is justified – the night or very early morning flight from Suvarnabhumi when you can not use buses, because they do not drive at this time. A taxi from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi will cost you between $ 900 to 1,500 baht (depending on the place of car order, your bargaining skills and attitudes taxi driver). I think it makes no sense to pay more because you can find a lot taxi in Pattaya and a lot of drivers, which want to get your 1000-1500 THB in any time of day and night in situation, when amounts of taxi drivers is always greater than the potential passengers.

Street point for order taxi from Pattaya to Bangkok airport

Street point for order taxi from Pattaya to Bangkok airport

Order a taxi to Bangkok airport, you can at the reception of most hotels, at special points of street «Taxi to airport» (see. photo) and on some parking for taxi, agreeing with the driver. You can also use the services of a proven global Taxi transfers company that is famous for its high quality services, the ability to place an order a taxi online, full-fledged four-seater or more spacious car and take advantage of additional facilities (eg, child seats, which under normal taxi you will not find) . More information about global taxi service you can read in article “Transfer Services in Thailand”.

By the way, do not forget to specify to taxi driver that it final price, and if taxi driver will be use any toll road, he will pays already itself (if I am not mistaken, fare is about 120 baht). Thus, the advantage of the method is possible to note the speed (but not much faster than a normal bus), a slightly higher level of comfort and the ability to go from Pattaya to Bangkok at any time of the day. And remember that because of the gas cylinder in the trunk of a ordinary taxi in Pattaya is not usually taken into the cabin more than three passengers, if those with luggage.

Transport from Pattaya to Don Muang airport in Bangkok

Since in preset time you can not to use direct bus route from Pattaya bus station to Don Muang airport, you need to use the combined scheme. The simplest of them – bus + taxi. In the article “How to get from Pattaya to Bangkok – all options”, me described in detail how to get to the bus station the capital of Thailand on buses for 124-133 baht. Wanting to get to the airport in Don Muang, best to buy a bus ticket from Pattaya to Bangkok’s Northern Bus Terminal (Nothern bus terminal Mochit), since it is the closest to the desired airport.

Next to the specified bus station always plenty of taxis that will take you over the counter to the relegation zone at Don Muang for about 120 baht (or 150-200 THB without the counter, but the last option – it is a lot of Bangkok for considering that you need spend in way by taxi only around 10-15 minutes). It is also next to the bus station north of Bangkok, you can catch one of the buses, but to find the right bus to be problematic without the knowledge of the Thai language, because inscriptions in the Latin alphabet is not provided. Cost of bus about 20 baht.

Bus from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport (on the South Bus station in Pattaya)

Bus from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport (on the South Bus station in Pattaya)

Second choice: bus ride to Suvarnabhumi Airport, as described in the first section of the paper, and then to use transfer to the free shuttle-bass to Don Muang Airport, which can be found near the exit №7 from the airport in the arrivals area (second floor). You may be asked to show ticket tickets from Don Muang while landing on a free shuttle bus. Travel time from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Depending on traffic. This bus to Don Muang airport in Bangkok works from 5 am until midnight. From 05-00 am to 10-00 and from 22-00 to 00-00 buses departure from Suvarnabhumi interval of 1 hour. The rest of the time interval is reduced to 20-40 minutes.

Schedule of free shuttle bus to Don Muang can be found near the site of the landing on them. You can see that here are buses almost half empty, so no need to worry about availability free seats. Travel time between the airport 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on road conditions. There are also city buses that go between airports, but they come with a variety of stops. Therefore, spend 30-35 baht for a long trip does not make sense. Especially since the free shuttle bass are air-conditioned, unlike some city public bus.

Taxi in Bangkok - the only way to travel between airports by night

Taxi in Bangkok – the only way to travel between airports by night

Taxi to the Don Muang airport from Pattaya will cost more than taxi to Suvarnabhumi, because it is located far away from the resort. Those, you should be calculated on the amount of 1500-2000 baht and up. So sometimes much cheaper access to the Suvarnabhumi Airport by taxi from Pattaya, and later find taxi in Bangkok for a trip to Don Muang. It is better to do it in the relegation zone, where taxi drivers usually leave empty and more compliant in the bargaining. Well, if the taxi driver agrees to take you on the counter, would be an option at all for the best price, because you can not use other variant to get from Pattaya to Don Muang at night. If the prospect of dialogue with the Thai taxi drivers do not attract, you can order a Taxi transfers in advance –  to get high level service, and easy get to Don Muang straight from Pattaya.

Finally, in the daytime you can use the easiest and cheapest way to get from Pattaya to Don Muang Airport. To do this, you need to use minibuses and costs 180 baht, which from morning to evening go to Don Muang from Pattaya with about half an hour interval. I did not use this transport, but this method has been tested several times with my friends and they all were satisfied. Very interested, but about minibuses from Pattaya to Don Muang with fare 180 THB, many of the local residents of Pattaya not even know, so they were surprised when I told them about it. Minibuses is sent to a small station outside Central Pattaya. Excellent reference point – a large supermarket Foodland, located on this street (Pattaya Klang, or Central Pattaya Rd).

A place where you can find cheap minibuses from Pattaya to Don Muang Airport

A place where you can find cheap minibuses from Pattaya to Don Muang Airport

You have to walk about 100 meters from the said store to the side of Sukhumvit Road (ie, away from the sea) and buy a ticket for the Minibus in a company engaged in the carriage. Inscriptions on the canopy at the company’s office in the Thai language, with very advertising signboard and billboard on the sidewalk – on a yellow background. Next – a small gas-cylinders station. If you walk from store Foodland, it will be on the left side. You can also find this office when you walk from Sukhumvit Road, while the company’s office is approximately 280 meters from the said track on the right side.

You can book a place in the van Pattaya – Don Muang, if you will call 0831121915 in Pattaya. I draw your attention that it can not be done in advance. You must call on the same day, when you want to go from Pattaya Airport. Perhaps an easier option – to come immediately before departure minibus with luggage. Minibuses run frequently from 5-30 am to 19-30 pm. Range of motion – every 30-40 minutes. The route called Pattaya – Major Rangsit (minivan on the way stops at Suvarnabhumi airport, too).

In this description of ways to get from Pattaya to Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi airports completed. I wish you an easy and comfortable road on the route from Pattaya to any Bangkok airport! Good luck!

Not all tourists for the movement around the Pattaya to prefere cheap public transport which called songthaew. Despite the convenience of their use and the developed network of routes connecting all areas of the city among themselves, sometimes it is required to use transport, being away from the main routes. In this case, a taxi in Pattaya can significantly save your time and energy, while the cost of such services in the resort is still quite democratic, if it is a trip in the day time. In this article I will tell you about the three main types of taxi in Pattaya: motorbike-taxi, songthaew taxi and classic in our understanding of a taxi cars. Also on this page you can get information about taxi fare in Pattaya.

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( you can click on the link for quick transition)

[ad#res]

Motorbike-taxi in Pattaya

I’ll start with the most accessible, widespread and, in the opinion of many tourists, a dangerous kind of city taxi – mototaxi (or motorbike-taxi). Walking around Pattaya (and other cities of the country), you will surely notice a lot of motobikes run by locals in colored vests (green, red, yellow, etc.). These Thai people are moto-taxi drivers, operatively carrying their passengers to their destination or returning to their permanent parking spot, trying to find passengers at the same time. I not accidentally write passengers, because in Pattaya and in general in Thailand, three or more people on a motorbike is a common thing.

Moreover, more than once I saw how a whole Thai family of 4 and even 5 people moved on motobike. At the same time, the policemen did not care about this. Imagine how happy will be our road police, if they will met such a “gift” on the road :). But I’m a bit distracted. Finding motorbike-taxi in Pattaya is not a problem even in places that are not tourist. As a rule, they are on duty at intersections, near major stores, just on the street under special canopies from the sun. In addition, motorbike taxi drivers often attract the attention of tourists with a sound signal if they see the latter as going. By the way, you can see the classic parking of motorbike taxi almost near the every of big crossroads  in pattaya and other thai cities and resorts.

Motorbike taxi in Pattaya – fast transport for 1-2 passengers

This is due primarily to the very common opinion that the walking foreigner (farang) is one who has not yet found a taxi in Pattaya, and not at all someone who just wants to walk. In most cases, this is really so, because in the hot sun even the Thais themselves prefer not to walk and actively use the services of mototaxists. I was sometimes a little strained by such increased attention to my person from the mototaxists, when I just walked to various places in Pattaya, which are not quite in tourist places and which can not be quickly considered when traveling by transport.

The cost of mototaxi services depends on a number of factors: distance, time of day, number of passengers (1 or 2), destination and availability of luggage. The cheapest way is a short trip up to 2 km, for example, to the nearest grocery store (although in Pattaya it will be difficult for you to find such a store more than 500 meters, ie not within walking distance). Usually the cost of a short trip is 30 baht. If on the  motorbike-taxi will be ride two passengers, then it is quite realistic to bargain for 50 or even 40 baht for the same section of the road. On average, the cost of a motorcycle taxi ride in Pattaya is 50-60 baht per person or 100 -150 baht when you need to travel a long distance, for example, from Pattaya Naklua to Bali Hai Pier or from Pratamnak Cape to Pattaya Northern Bus Station with a suitcase (yes, do not be surprised, the suitcase for mototaxi is not at all an obstacle).

But this is after bargaining, because every self-respecting motorbike-taxi driver never immediately calls the minimum price, for which he agrees to take you to the right place. By the way, useful advice from personal experience. During the bargaining, do not rely too much on the fact that all Thais know the English numerals well. So, one day I came back from the souvenir store Lukdod and agreed that the mototaxist would take me for 60 baht (the original price to Walking Street was 100 baht). When we arrived at the place, the taxi driver, having received the promised 60 THB, began to resent and show on the phone a figure of 80, repeating “sixty baht.”

It’s good that there were other mototaxists near by with which I managed to convince my that the “sixty” are just 60, not 80. Therefore, I advise always in the bidding process to use the same phone and draw on the screen figures, and not rely on hearing ( If you do not have a phone with you, he will definitely be with a Thai). Also, some motobike taxi drivers like at the end of the journey, when you pay with them, to demand an amount that is more than the original agreement. As I understand, they do it “just in case”, but you can just smile and say that the arrangement was such and such. Usually they also smile after that and say OK.

About the fact that many consider motorbike-taxi a dangerous mode of transport. The truth is there, but in my opinion the danger comes solely from the presence of farangs on the road, many of whom like to ride “under the degree” during the rest. In the ability of the mototaxists themselves to manage with their iron friend, I have never had any doubts, so I do not think that one should be afraid of falling or that one can fly into a pillar or a truck. What should be feared when riding a mototax is that the front wind will spoil the hairstyle. Therefore, the ladies who are very concerned about this, I advise you to use other types of taxi in Pattaya.

Songthaew-taxi in Pattaya – not the most comfortable, but inexpensive transport

Songthaew-taxi in Pattaya

It is an ordinary songthaew ( passenger pickup truck with two benches and a roof), which I described in detail in the article “Transport in Pattaya – public transport routes on the map”. The only difference is that this transport goes not on a certain route, and where you need it. Due to the fact that a large number of people can accommodate in the passenger compartment of songthaew, this method is especially beneficial for large families or companies. Even if you are traveling with three other person, the total cost of 120-200 baht per trip per passenger is no more than 50 baht, which is already cheaper than the motorbike taxi. Plus the security of the mode of transport still higher, and luggage can be placed on a bench or on the floor, rather than keep the hand while driving, as it has to do when riding a motorcycle.

Taxi fare in Pattaya also depends on time of day and distance. Of course, in the daytime this type of transport is much cheaper than at night. In this case, it is necessary to bargain during the day: everything is the same as in the case of motorbike taxi. If you want to drive from Walking Street in the middle of the night to a hotel located in the north of the resort (Pattaya Naklua) or in the Jomtien area, you need to be ready for the declared price of 400 and even 500 baht. By the way, a few years ago it was quite possible to travel the indicated distance and for 300 baht, but rich foreign tourists finally spoiled the Thais and they practically do not want to bargain, especially if there are no competitors nearby.

Finding a songthaew-taxi in Pattaya is the easiest next to popular tourist sites: bus terminal and bus stations, markets, supermarkets, hypermarkets and shopping centers, at the Bali Hai Pier, from where many resort guests travel to the beaches of Koh Lan. By the way, it is not at all necessary to look for a special songthaew-taxi, because at the resort it is easy to “take off” any empty passenger pickup, which previously was considered a public transport and was waiting for its 10-baht passengers. After tuk-tuk (songthaew) turns into a taxi, it completely passes to your disposal and does not pick up the other passengers.

Classic taxi service in Pattaya – the most comfortable, but not cheap transport

Classic taxi service in Pattaya

The most common for tourists is the kind of taxi in Pattaya, which is a classic car with air conditioning. Externally, such a taxi in Pattaya is easy to distinguish by a bright yellow-blue and yellow-green color. This type of taxi is just beginning to spread in the resort but number of cars are not so much, as in other cities, so it’s not always possible to simply stop even an empty car on a city street. The easiest way is to find a free car near shopping centers, markets or bus stations, however sometimes the best way is to book a car by phone of taxi service in Pattaya. Although in 2017 the classic taxi in Pattaya is already about twice as large as it was in 2014.

The most convenient time for using classic taxi cars in Pattaya is in the evening. In a day time cars away from shopping centers can be really small amount, and many cars parked at the pavement without a driver. Once I saw that the taxi driver slept so sweetly at the wheel that I was ashamed to wake him. But with the onset of darkness, the classic taxi becomes noticeably larger, especially near the shopping centers of Pattaya. By the way, if you still decide to use an taxi service in Pattaya without a preliminary order, I recommend that you pay attention to the windshield: if the taxi is available, a luminous sign indicates this. Those. If the lamps do not burn, the taxi rides on the call and there is no sense in trying to stop it on the city street.

Since yellow-green taxis work for organized companies, they are required to carry passengers using meters. Therefore, if the taxi driver initially tries to name the price and does not include the counter, hint to him that you will only go with taxi-meter.  Usually after that the counter will be includes, and your trip is cheaper than it would be in case of a pre-agreed price. I remind you that due to the fact that there is a gas cylinder in the luggage compartment of many taxis, you should not expect that you can get to the right place with five passengers and with luggage on one car. In the latter case, it is better to hire a taxi minivan, having informed about it in the taxi service during the order.

[ad#res2]

By the way, the easiest way to order a taxi in Pattaya, provided that your Thai is far from perfect, you can always be at your hotel, asking the employee about this at the front desk (it is advisable to leave a little tip for it). You can order a taxi and on special racks in the street, but there prefer passengers who need to go not to the terrain, but to the airport. Also, a taxi to Pattaya can be ordered even before arrival in the country, so that the driver met you right at the airport and drove to the resort to the hotel doors. But this is the case if you do not want to save much and get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya cheaply, as I told in the relevant article.

At the end of December 2016 the city authorities of Pattaya approved a new public transport routes of the city – tuk-tuk (or, more correctly, songthaew). The new scheme of motion in some way provides a more convenient transport accessibility of several urban areas, however, has several disadvantages. And the locals and tourists who are on holiday in Pattaya regular, long accustomed to the old traffic pattern used for many years in the resort. Moreover, many drivers of tuk-tuks are also not wanted to abandon the usual routes, and continued to carry passengers solely on them, ignoring the new traffic scheme. All this has led to some chaos and confusion, which did not add convenience during your holiday in Pattaya.

However, in February 2017, the local authorities took up the issue seriously and have already taken this series of active actions to restore order in the matter of public transport in Pattaya. Already since February 1, 2017 came into effect the procedure for authorizing the movement of passenger pickups only on approved routes. At the same time employees of the State Inspectorate carried out a number of preventive raids and has revealed many violations: drivers of songthaew continued to move on the streets, which is not included in the new movement pattern. As a result, the violators were applied severe measures of influence: fines of several thousand baht and a three-day arrest of vehicles.

All this has led to the fact that tuk-tuk drivers have become more conscious of the new order and more or less follow the rules. One of the unpleasant aspects of the new traffic patterns become complete prohibition of passenger tuk-tuks in popularity among budget travelers  street  – Soi Buakhao. This practice has been perceived by many foreigners as an attempt to rid the resort from independent travelers and motivate their to stay in more expensive hotels with better transport accessibility. However, so far no one has no plans to abandon from the cheap hotels on Soi Lengkee and Soi Buakhao, but the inconvenience of the new ban is already felt by many tourists.

Soi Buakhao in Pattaya – even in the daytime you can see traffic jam

On the other hand, Soi Buakhao – is a very narrow street, and two-way traffic on it has often led to huge traffic jams, especially in the evening during high season in Thailand. And at times it was a right decision to leave the tuk-tuk and take a walk than to lose time in traffic jams. However, more correct in my opinion would be to make this a one-way street, and leave at least one circular route connecting the urban area such as the Bali Hai pier. And, of course, it’s time for city authorities to take care of road resurfacing on this street and make the normal conditions for pedestrian.

In the near future on the site will be added new article “Transport in Pattaya – public transport routes on the map”, where you will find the scheme of new routes on the city map, information on the cost of movement between different areas of the city with the new seven routes. Stay tuned and enjoy your holiday!

Information about innovations on the beaches of Pattaya appears in the press regularly, and most often it’s about temporary inconveniences for tourists and local residents. First of all, such inconveniences include the capital reconstruction of the beaches: the work was carried out on the beach of Wongamat in the northern part of the resort and on the beaches of Jomtien and Dongtan in the southern part of the city. Of course, no one is pleased with the cutting down of trees and large-scale excavation works with a large number of bulldozers and excavators, but all this is done to make the rest on the beaches of Pattaya more comfortable and safe. Today’s news concerns the increase in the number of days when beach sunbeds in Pattaya are completely banned.

Since the end of June 2017 on all beaches of Pattaya, a strict ban on the use of sun beds not only on Wednesdays (as it was established in 2016), but also on Thursdays. Those. Lovers of the pristine beaches will enjoy the rest on the sand and in the shade of the palms for two days in a row, and those tourists who used to relax with a greater level of comfort – under the beach umbrellas on the sun beds – will be enjoy in the remaining days of the week. It should be noted that the ban on the use of sun loungers on Thursdays is temporary and, according to preliminary information, will be valid only until the end of July 2017 (unless renewed by a new local government decree).

The main reason for the innovation was the desire of the city administration to fundamentally solve the problem of cleaning beaches of the resort from garbage, branches and stones. Therefore, all owners of umbrellas and sun loungers will be obliged on Tuesday evening to completely clear the leased section of the city beach, so that on Wednesday and Thursday special equipment and cleaners could perform their work in a qualitative way. That’s why it’s forbidden to store umbrellas and deck chairs under the trees, as it was before (from Tuesday evening to Friday morning). Of course, for owners of sunbeds, a new regulation means lower incomes and additional costs for transporting and storing beach equipment, however, for guests of the city and visitors to the weekend from Bangkok to Pattaya, the Thai people will be more comfortable and safe on a clean beach.

Pattaya beaches without umbrellas and sun loungers on Wednesdays and Thursdays

However, it should be noted that the new order does not mean that every Wednesday and Thursday the beaches of Pattaya will be unsuitable for recreation, because a thorough cleaning with the use of special equipment (for loosening and sifting of sand) will be conducted not on the entire length of the beaches of Pattaya, and in some areas in Different weeks. This is why a two-day ban on the use of beach umbrellas and sun loungers will last for at least 6 weeks. In addition to the ban, a special commission of representatives of local authorities plans to periodically conduct spot checks of beach umbrellas and sun loungers for compliance with security requirements.

Finally, another news (more relevant to locals, not tourists) is the holding of special lotteries in August 2017. As a result of the draws, landlords will be identified who will be able to enter into an official contract with the city authorities for the lease of a certain section of the beach and provide specialized services on this site – renting umbrellas and sun loungers. This step was taken by local authorities in the fight against corruption, which resulted in the seizure of most of the territory of the beaches of Pattaya (including the Jomtien area) by several influential families that do not allow competitors to this business. The lottery results will be valid for the calendar year, until the next lottery. It is hoped that the beaches of Pattaya after the reconstruction and cleaning will really become cleaner and more beautiful, and rest on them – more comfortable and safe.

The ongoing war for many months between Uber drivers and ordinary taxi drivers in Pattaya has become the topic of an emergency meeting in one of the city police stations in Pattaya. The last straw in this difficult confrontation was a public brawl between the drivers of the usual yellow taxi in Pattaya and a representative of the Uber service. The fight was recorded by eyewitnesses in the video and later laid out on Youtube, and after the video was demonstrated in the media. Present at the meeting, transport officials, employees of the Pattaya City Hall, representatives of the military, the police and was approved the new rules of taxi services in Pattaya.

First, Uber drivers are completely forbidden to work in Pattaya. Each identified fact of paying a taxi, which was ordered through mobile application Uber, will be the reason for a fine from the driver of 2,000 Thai baht (almost 60 USD). In addition, the driver of the Uber service, who risks working in Pattaya, will be deprived of a driving license for three months. Thus, this is bad news for Uber, because such strict measures should lead to the fact that no one should be tempted to work as a driver of this service in Pattaya.

Secondly, Manot Carnvatanasin, who oversees transportation issues in Chonburi province (in whose territory Pattaya is located), without hesitation expressing himself very harshly spoke about the enmity of the drivers of the Uber service and the drivers of the traditional taxi in Pattaya. The latter were strictly forbidden to take any active action against the drivers of Uber. Any attempt to cause physical or material damage will be severely punished without any indulgence. The only thing they have to do in case someone is suspected of working for Uber in Pattaya is to report to the competent authorities for an inspection (control rides are possible).

Thirdly, representatives of taxi companies present at the meeting were confronted with the fact that they needed to equip cars with meters (taximeters) in the shortest possible time, and serious penalties were also provided for the violators of this rule. In the near future, it becomes clear what the effectiveness of the measures taken at the meeting and whether they allowed to resolve the conflict situation between the drivers. As for tourists, for them the lack of an alternative in the form of Uber service in Pattaya will not be the most pleasant news, because the fare when using the service was several times lower than when using ordinary city taxis.

This was the essence of the problem – local taxi drivers expressed dissatisfaction with the ever-increasing competition from Uber drivers, whose low rates deprived taxi drivers of their usual income level. If the plans of local authorities become a reality and a taxi in Pattaya will go by the taximeter, it will only benefit the passengers – both local residents and tourists. Also, it is not yet clear whether the rule of compulsory use of the meter will apply when traveling outside the city, for example, to Bangkok airport. Currently, tourists often use international service Kiwitaxi for transfers to airport, where they can book a car of any class in advance, negotiate with taxi drivers personally, desperately bargaining, or book a taxi to the airport at special racks in the city or in hotels at a fixed price.

Also from September 1, 2017 taxi drivers and songthaew drivers in Pattaya were forbidden to use parking facilities at shopping centers and hotels for customers’ expectation. In the event of a violation of this rule, drivers face confiscation of the vehicle for up to seven days.

Since October 2017, Pattaya has introduced new rules for the provision of motorbike taxi services, as well as strict rules of conduct for Thai drivers who carry passengers on motorcycles and mopeds. In the last days of September, 2017, local authorities conducted a special control raid, which revealed some negative aspects in the provision of motorbike taxi services. At the same time, the commission, which visited 6 popular parking lots for motorbike taxi, reminded seven new rules by which they should be guided in their work. In this case, the most important for tourists in Pattaya will be the first two rules, compliance with which will avoid a number of controversial points and conflict situations, often arising in the process of transporting passengers to motorbike taxi.

So, the first rule is the mandatory availability of the price list for the driver of a motorcycle taxi. The price list should indicate the fixed cost of the trip for all distances. Fulfillment of this requirement will allow each passenger to know in advance the price of the trip. The second rule is that transportation of more than two passengers on one motorcycle (motorbike) is forbidden. At first glance, this rule should make the trip more expensive, but in fact, when transporting two or more (which is not uncommon) passengers on mototaxi in Pattaya, in any case, tourists had to pay for each passenger. Compliance with the new rule should improve the safety of passenger transportation and the level of their comfort.

The third rule, which is not as important as the first two, prohibits motor taxi drivers from attracting the attention of pedestrians (potential customers) with loud cries, a sound signal and a clap of hands. The remaining 4 rules regulate the behavior of motorbike drivers in parking lots and generally during the whole work shift: they can not to drink alcohol while working; they need have an ID card, they can not gamble during working hours (taxi drivers are often make it in parking lots, especially when there are few potential customers). Also they can not obstruct the traffic on the streets and alleys throught parked motorcycles.

Violation of each of the specified rules will entail the imposition of penalties (both in cash, and in the form of temporary confiscation of the vehicle or temporary suspension of the license). Also moto taxi drivers need urged to monitor cleanliness and order at special parking lots and in rest areas. It is hoped that the new rules will really make the motorcycle taxi service in Pattaya more convenient and safe for passengers.

Samet Island in the Gulf of Thailand is located less than a hundred kilometers from Pattaya, so its visit is possible as a one-day excursion, and as a full-fledged independent rest with accommodation in a comfortable hotel. Relatively close location allows you to get to the island of Samet from Pattaya quickly, inexpensively and comfortably. And the choice of transport depends on your personal preferences and recreation budget, and also – in some cases – on the number of your satellites. Detailed information on the types of transport along the Pattaya-Samet route, the timetable and the fare between the popular resort and the island is below on the page. Note: you should know that Samet island is often referred to as Samed Island, but in reality it same island.

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( you can click on the link for quick transition)

Features of the trip to Koh Samet from Pattaya

Since Koh Samet is a small island without an airport, your journey from Pattaya always consists of two stages: a trip along the roads of Thailand to Ban Phe (a small village on the coast in Rayong province, from where ferries and boats go to the island) and directly from the mainland to the Koh Samet (the island is only 6.5 km away from the mainland). In most cases, these stages of the journey are paid for separately (with the exception of organized transfers and one-day excursions), so different types of land and water transport can be used in any combination of your choice.

Information on the cost of water transport and the schedule of ferries between Ban Phe and Samet Island can be found at the end of this article. And the cost of the selected water transport simply add to the cost of land transport, to get the final price of transport between Pattaya and Samet Island. And of course, in the recreation budget, the resulting amount should be multiplied by two, if you plan to return to Pattaya with the same types of transport.

A feature of Samet Island in the Gulf of Thailand is that it is a natural reserve of Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet. The island has a territory of just over 13 square kilometers, and a special fee is charged for the visit – 200 Thai Baht per person, regardless of the length of stay at Samet. Here you need to remember that the cost of some hotels on the island (when booking accommodation in them online) is exempt from the fee fee of 200 baht (more precisely, it is already included in the cost of living). Therefore, please clarify this question when booking. There are also some tricks to avoid paying the fee when arriving at Nadan Pier (for more details, see the article “Useful advice when visiting Samet Island”). Finally, starting in 2016, you need pay 20 baht per person for the maintenance of the Nadan pier, when you arrives to this main pier.

Koh Samet (Koh Samed) – main ferry pier

Taxi from Pattaya to Koh Samet – cost and features

The relatively small distance between the city of Pattaya and the resort island of Samet (less than 100 km) allows very quickly and with maximum comfort to reach the destination by taxi. At the same time, you can use the services of street racks by taxi order, negotiate with a taxi driver in the parking lot yourself or order a car taxi transfer in advance using the international services Kiwitaxi and having negotiated all the details of the trip in your native language. In all these cases, the cost of the trip will be from the doors of your hotel in Pattaya to the ferry pier in Ban Phe. The advantage of a taxi is that you will be taken to the right pier immediately, and you will not be lost another hour to drive around the other hotels in Pattaya and collect fellow passengers, as it often happens with transfers and excursions.

Here it should be noted that the cost of a taxi will be higher than the cost of other modes of transport, but only if you travel alone. If you two, three or four, then the trip is not only the most comfortable, but also inexpensive. So, the cost of a taxi when ordering online is approximately 1400-1600 THB (or 41-46 USD), depending on the class of the car, the number of passengers and full baggage seats. Those. The cost per passenger when traveling three together will be about 450-500 THB, i.е. it’s not much more than offered in most Pattaya street travel agencies and at hotel counters for a transfer on a minibus. And if you are travel with friends or family, then a taxi ride will generally be the fastest, most comfortable and inexpensive.

Transfer by minibus from Pattaya to Samet

The second most popular way to travel to Samet Island from Pattaya is using an organized transfer. This option usually includes a trip on a comfortable minibus directly from the door of your hotel to the Ban Phe pier on the mainland, the Nuan Type pier directly on Samet Island or to other piers. At the same time, the most affordable option will be the first transfer option – from the hotel in Pattaya to one of the piers in Ban Phe. The minimum price that can be expected in this case is 250-300 THB per person to one side (for example, at 35 Group Pattaya, which I already recommended for trips on the page How to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang).

It should be borne in mind that some transport companies charge an additional charge of about 100 THB per person in cases where the hotel in Pattaya is located in the southern part of the resort, ie. in the far part of Jomtien (area of the Ambassador City hotel). Options, which including payment for the ferry to the island, differ slightly higher price (70-100 baht more expensive). Given that the standard price of this ferry to Na Dan pier on the island of Samet is 50 baht (when you buying in both directions, i.e. 50+50), we can conclude that there is no reason to overpay, because you will be sold a ticket for the same ferry, but at a higher price (because the price of a ferry to one side often starts from 70 baht), and a minibus will often follow further to the island of Koh Chang.

Transfer to Koh Samet from Pattaya is made on comfortable minibus Toyota

Of course, there are exceptions: some transport companies have their own small speedboats, that deliver minibas passengers to the island and back from the island at the time of arrival of the minibus to the mainland pier. But all these questions should be clarified in advance. Personally, I like the option with an ordinary ferry for 50 baht, because on it less swaying. If you look at the maps of Samet and see that the hotel or beach you have chosen is not located in the area of the main village on the island (Na Dan) and in the area of another pier, you can immediately go to this pier, but the cost will usually be higher (information about ferries in corresponding section of the article below).

It may be more advantageous to order the transfer immediately in both directions – route Pattaya – Samet – Pattaya. In this case it is necessary to focus on 700 baht per person and in this cost should be included not only the transfer to the minibus, but also the sea transport to the island and back. You can find and variant with a transfer to the best (according to many) beach on the island – Ao Phai beach. In this case, the trip to both sides to the specified white sand beach will be about 950-1000 baht per person, and in one direction – approximately 850-900 baht. In one direction in this case, ordering a transfer does not make sense at all.

Choosing an organized transfer from Pattaya to Samet, you should take into account the popularity of this route, ie. in the high season to find tickets “today for tomorrow” may not work because of the limited supply from the companies inspected. Therefore, it is better to take care of buying such a transfer a few days before the proposed trip. Finally, be careful when ordering a transfer in unverified street agencies. Sometimes for delivery customers, some transport companys can be used old minibuses, and along the way there will be too many stops, as a result you will seat with minimal comfort, and the trip will take much longer.

Day trips to Samet from Pattaya

For tourists who want to change the situation for a short while and visit Samet with a short-term visit, ie. to spend on this island only one day, and in the evening to return to your hotel in Pattaya – there is a variant with a special excursion. This method allows you to get an idea of the island and spend on its beaches most of the day’s time, not too caring about the way to move to Samet and back. You can order the excursion in numerous street agencies in Pattaya. And if you want the excursion to take place in your native language, you can find special offers from local guides with using Internet.

Such an excursion, which includes not only the journey to the island, a beach lounger and a full dinner, will cost around 1500 baht per person. Of course, the cost of an organized tour is slightly higher than an independent trip, but for someone, comfort is more important than saving money. Order of a one-day excursion to Samet from Pattaya can be preferably done in advance, although some companies allow you to make an order today for tomorrow. Departure from Pattaya usually in the morning at 07-00, return to Pattaya from Koh Samet – after sunset.

Public transport from Pattaya to Koh Samet

The most affordable, but somewhat more complicated, because of the transplant option is to get to Samet from Pattaya – using public transport. In this case, your way to the island will consist not of two, but of three stages: the transfer from Pattaya to Rayong, transfer to Ban Phe and directly to the island by water transport. As with passing buses from Bangkok, you need to catch them on the Sukhumvit highway, and this is the main difficulty, because there is no exact timetable, the bus signs are often in Thai, and even the bus may just not stop. Therefore, it may be necessary to help from the local residents, who will help stop the bus for a small fee. Stopping is better to search near the intersection of the Sukhumvit highway and Pattaya Central Rd.

Public bus to Rayong – budget way to get to Koh Samet

In general, the middle cost of a trip to Rayong from Pattaya is about 70 baht. And another 30 baht will cost the road to the Ban Phe pier on songthaew (passenger pickup). With the second part of the way, there will be no problems – the route is well known and popular not only among tourists, but also among local residents. Further on one of the three piers (they are all within 500-600 meters from each other) you bye standard ticket for a ferry or speedboat to the island of Samet is purchased. It is a pity that the route from Pattaya to Samet we can not buy a bus ticket on the popular service of transport in Asia, which I usually recommend for inexpensive trips to other destinations in Thailand.

As you can see, the total cost of the trip from Pattaya to Samet by public transport is 150 baht, i.е. twice cheaper than the cheapest transfer. But possible problems with finding and stopping the right bus make this way a little more complicated and make this option not so popular as a taxi, transfer or excursion. The return trip is easier, but remember that there are two bus stations in Rayong, and buses to Pattaya are sent only with one of them.

A trip from Pattaya to Samet on a rented car or motorbike

Since transport rent in Thailand is very common and allows in some cases to get full freedom of movement at a reasonable price, many tourists often have a desire to make an independent trip to the island of Samet from Pattaya. The idea at first glance is very tempting, but there are a number of nuances that can reduce your desire to use such an option to naught. Firstly, large ferries do not go to Samet, how on Koh Samui or Ko Chang. Those. You can get to the rental car only to the Ban Phe Pier. Of course, there is a large guarded parking lot, but what’s the point of paying for car rental and parking (which is 400 baht per day for a car or 30 baht for a motobike), and to walk on the island by yourself?

Map of the beaches of Samet

This can also happen on the way back, if you return not the same day. As a result, even when traveling alone, to achieve any savings is almost impossible. But this method can deliver a lot of problems. Therefore, it is much easier to use ready-made variants of the trip, during which you do not need to think about solving transport problems, you can drink delicious Thai beer and take a nap, leaving the forces directly for rest on the island of Samet.

Ferries and boats on Koh Samet from Ban Phe (schedule and prices)

And on the coast in the village of Ban Phe, and directly on the island of Samet, there are several piers, so when you first travel from Pattaya to Samet, you may have some confusion with the many names of piers and beaches. If you use an organized transfer for a trip from Pattaya or Bangkok, you probably will not be able to choose the destination: transport companies usually deliver to a certain pier and from there they take tourists on the way from Samet Island back to Pattaya. For example, the popular company 35 Group Pattaya delivers to Nuanthip Pier, although as always in Thailand, many maps have alternative names, for example, Nuan Thip Pier. From there, cheap ferries to the Nadan pier on the island go and there if you want you can find a speedboat that will deliver to any beach in Koh Samet in 10-15 minutes.

Nearby there are also piers Seree and Jadet, and the largest in Ban Phe village pier with name Sri Ban Phe Pier. This is the pier I recommend to specify as the destination when traveling from Pattaya to Samet by taxi, because from here the maximum number of ferries leaves and from here the easiest way to reach not only the main island settlement on Samet – Nadan (Na Dan, Nadarn, Nadan), but also to other beaches on the island. Also from here you can use easiest wayfrom getting on songthaew (passenger pickup trucks) to the bus station in Rayong and make the return journey. The piers in Ban Phe are located within walking distance from each other (no more than 500-600 meters), so you can easily reach the desired one, even if you were brought to another. Detailed information on the location of piers and the schedule of ferries and boats from them you can find on the page “Piers in Ban Phe and Koh Samet, the schedule of ferries.”

A small passenger ferry to Koh Samet from Ban Phe

If we talk about the time of the ferry service between Ban Phe and Koh Samet, the first ferry to the island leaves at 06:00 am, and the last ferry usually at 17:00 local time, ie. arrives on the island about an hour before dark. Ferries leave every hour, and if you are late just a little – next to the pier there is a lot of small Thai cafes, where you can eat and drink (cheaper than in Koh Samet). Travel time to the island, when it comes to the Nadan pier in the north-eastern part of Samet, is 25-30 minutes (depending on the direction of the wind and the height of the waves).

The fare for one person is from 50 baht. Despite the term “ferry”, here it is not at all about the usual huge marine vessels with a compartment for motor transport. Rather, it is about large boats that resemble ferries to Koh Lan near Pattaya, but designed for even fewer passengers, because unlike Pattaya “brethren”, ferries from Ban Phe to Koh Samet do not have a second passenger deck and in general much smaller in size. Usually on top of such a boat there is a special ground where you can take sunbathing and enjoy the sea.

Na Dan Pier (Nadan pier) is the best choice if you plan to stay on the beaches of Sai Kaew, Ao Phai or Ao Thubtim in the eastern part of the island. If you plan to stay (or have already booked the hotel at the best price with the help of Hotellook (a map of hotels with prices located below) on other beaches of Samet Island, you can immediately poison yourself to the pier, which located not far from your hotel. For example, Ao Wong Duen Pier is suitable in a situation, when you are interested in the beaches of Ao Saengthian or Ao Nuan, a ticket from Ban Phe to the ferry costs 60 baht per person, and ferries depart four times a day: 8:30, 12:00, 13:30 and 16:00.

Map of Koh Samet with hotels at the best prices

(in the lower right corner you can choose the price range)

When you need to get to the Ao Wai pier in the south-eastern part of Samet Island, you can use the appropriate ferry costing 100 baht, which departing from the main pier of Ban Phe at 11:30 and 14:00. The return flight from this island pier is at 14:00, and the journey time is from 40 minutes. Finally, to get to the southernmost pier of Samet Island – Ao Kui – you can use a ferry from Ban Phe, which leaves at 10:00 am and costs 120 baht per person.

A faster way to the island is passenger speed boats. Right on the piers you will find many offers for delivery to the island from 200 baht per person in just 10-15 minutes. When buying tickets in both directions, you can save a little, because round-trip tickets are sold for 350 baht per person. Delivery to other beaches of the island will cost or at a similar price, or 50 baht more. At the same time, there is a possibility not to wait for the full filling of the speed boat, but for paying the whole boat at once. For the price it will cost 2000-2500 baht. If you travel with large company, then the option is not the worst. Especially since you are easily delivered to any beach and you will additionally save 200 baht per person.

Separately, it should be noted that public transport on the island – green passenger pick-ups singteo (songthaew) is very democratic at a price (from 10 to 60 baht per person for the passage to the nearest / most remote beach). Therefore, if you do not expect a direct ferry to the distant piers from Ban Phe in the near future, you can safely sail to Nadan pier, and then use local transport. The indicated prices are actual for full filling of the pick-up (8-10 passengers). If you do not want to wait – you can pay more, but go immediately, without waiting for the full load of passengers.

In Thailand, a new train route was launched, connecting the capital of Bangkok and a popular resort on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand – Pattaya. The main goal of such a railway route is to stimulate domestic tourism in the country. At the same time the route ends not in Pattaya, but approximately 30 kilometers to the south – in the city of Sattahip. By the way, it is in the Sattahip area that there are popular beaches with white sand, clear water and a beautiful coastline, where tourists from Pattaya come every year. And it is in the Sattahip area that the famous “military beach” or “Beach of the dancing girl” and Utapao International Airport are located.

The new Bangkok-Bang Plu Ta Luang train (the name of the final railway station in the Sattahip area) will carry passengers in a test mode for six months – from March 17 to the end of September 2018. In the future, a conclusion will be made about the expediency of this railway route. Unfortunately, at the first stage this train is a “weekend train” and will carry passengers only on Saturday and Sunday. Currently, the train timetable is the following: departure from Bangkok at 06:45 am, and the train should arrive at 09:50 on the final station Ban Plu Ta Luang. The return journey begins at 15:50 to arrive at 18:55 at the central Hua Lamphong railway station in Bangkok.

The fare on the train between the first and last stations is 170 THB one way. At the same time the train is equipped with air conditioning, but it is not a express train. Therefore, while the train is moving between Bangkok and Ban Plu Ta Luang, there are several stops. However, such stops are justified, because they are located in the area popular facilities for foreign tourists and local residents. For example, the train stops at Si Racha (where a famous tiger zoo is located), in North Pattaya, in the vicinity of Nong Nooch Park and Pattaya Floating Market, in Wat Yan Sang Wararam (the famous temple of Wat Yan). At the indicated stops of the train passengers, an inexpensive public transport will already be waiting, which will deliver directly to the nearest attractions and to the train departing station in the opposite direction.

Max Hotel in Pattaya is classified as a city hotel of this resort. This budget 2-star hotel is located in the central part of the city and offers a good level of comfort at a good price. In other words, this hotel is ideal for overnight stays and safe storage your baggage, while you spend most of the day outside the hotel. In this small review of the Max Hotel in Pattaya, I will share my experience of living in it, talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the Max Hotel in Pattaya, information about the cost of living and hotel services.

Location of Max Hotel in Pattaya, how to get there

Ma`x Hotel is located in the central part of the resort, on the Soi Post Office side street, which is easier to find as Soi 13/2. This lane is located between the Beach Rd and the Second Rd. The location is very good, because in 2-3 minutes walk from the hotel is located the central beach of Pattaya, which after the completion of the reconstruction should be a good place for a beach holiday. Below on the page is a fragment of the map of Pattaya, on which the location of the Max Hotel is marked. As you can see, Soi 13/2 Lane is located between two shopping centers – Royal Garden Plaza and Mike Shopping Mall. Therefore, this hotel is within walking distance of the famous Walking Street (less than 10 minutes walk) and the LK Metro area (also about 10 minutes walk).

Location of Max Hotel on Pattaya Map

To get to the Max Hotel is not difficult from the two main bus stations in Pattaya. If you arrive at Pattaya North Bus Station, the easiest way is to use local passenger pick-ups. Right at the exit from the territory of this bus station you will be offered to get to the hotel for 50 baht per person, including your baggage (if you have one). This is a good price, and you should be brought directly to the entrance of the Max Hotel. Among the shortcomings, you can only note that in the pickup there will be 8-10 people, and your hotel will not necessarily be first on the list, i.e. You can spend up to 1 hour on such a transfer. There is a faster option that is suitable for travelers without bulky luggage.

Initially, you need to use a motorbike taxi in Pattaya, and get there to the “crossroads with dolphins” (the road ring at the end of Pattaya North Street, where the bus station is located). A good reference point is the largest and newest shopping center in Pattaya – Tereminal 21. At the left of the intersection is the terminus of route pickups, which continue along the Beach Road. Leave immediately on Soi 13/2 – a lane between the restaurants Pizza Hut and McDonalds. The trip will cost 60 baht (50 per motorbike + 10 per pickup). Then you should go a few tens of meters along the 13 / 2.Max Lane Hotel located on the north side of the lane (on the left) in a building with a light green facade and a brown canopy. Above the alley you can see a large billboard “Max Hotel and Italian Restaurant”

Entrance to the Max Hotel restaurant (hotel reception desk on the right)

If you come to the southern bus station of Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi airport, then the way to the hotel will be even easier and faster. You have to cross the road in front of this small bus station and stop any passenger pickup (songthaew) that is moving to central Pattaya. The cost of the trip is 10 THB per person (there are cases when during rush hour you may be required to pay 20 baht (10 + 10) if you have a large suitcase with you). Then you go direct to Soi 13/2. You need to leave car after the transport passes the shopping center Royal Garden Plaza (it will be on the left as you go, and a big red plane on the facade of the building will be a good reference point). Then you should go a few tens of meters along the 13/2 lane, while the hotel will be on the right.

Overview of the Max Hotel in Pattaya

Max Hotel can be called a classic city hotel in central Pattaya. The hotel is located in a 5-storey building, which has an Italian restaurant on the ground floor, pool tables and a reception desk (to the right of the entrance). Since I booked the hotel in advance, check-in at the hotel was very fast. Upon check-in, I had to make a deposit of 500 THB for using a magnetic card, which serves as a key in this hotel. The deposit was returned to me in full at the time of check out.

Max Hotel Restaurant Bar and stairs to hotel rooms

Rooms are located on floors 2,3, 4 and 5, which can be reached via stairs or a modern elevator. I lived on the 3rd floor and preferred to use the steps. I really liked the interior design of the halls on the floors, which is made in the Oriental style. The decoration materials used wood and stone, there are paintings and bas-reliefs depicting scenes from the Ramayana (and, perhaps, the Kama Sutra). Also present is carved wooden furniture. Not very bright lights and warm colors contribute to creating an even greater romantic mood in the hotel. When booking a non-smoking room, the smell of cigarettes was not feel.

Bed in standard room Max Hotel (Pattaya)

I stayed in a standard Max Hotel room, which had a wide and comfortable bed, a TV (small but flat-screen TV), air conditioning, a refrigerator, a wardrobe with a built-in safe and plastic hangers, a ceiling fan. From the furniture there were also bedside tables, a small table, a soft chair and a large mirror on the wall. The room had a window, but the view of the wall of the neighboring building was not very picturesque and I preferred closed curtains. In the superior rooms, the view from the window is much more interesting. The room is decorated with carved wooden elements, a two-level ceiling with built-in lights gave the room a more respectable look.

Separately, we should talk about the bathroom Max Hotel in Pattaya. Despite the fact that this is a cheap hotel of 2 stars category, its bathroom looks quite solid. Partly this contributes to the decoration of the walls with light marble tiles. In the bathroom you will find a large sink on a chrome stand, a modern toilet and a shower stall with plastic doors. In fact, even in the more expensive hotels in Pattaya (and other cities in Thailand), a shower stall is not standard on the bathroom. As a rule, a shower in Thai hotels is simply fenced off by a concrete partition from the toilet area, and sometimes it is not fenced at all. Also in the room were soap, shampoo and shower gel. All this makes me put the bathroom Max Hotel highest rating.

What you can find close to Max Hotel in Pattaya

If you do not want to eat in the Italian restaurant Max Hotel, you can always buy inexpensive street food directly in Soi 13/2. Restaurants such as Pizza Hut, Burger King, McDonalds, Thai and Indian restaurants are within walking distance. Nearby there are massage parlors (not all of them actually specialize in massage), bars (including the famous The Pump Station bar), Miami A Go-Go club, Pattaya post office (I sent Christmas cards from this post office), exchanges currencies with a good exchange rate for Beach Rd and Second Rd.

Directly on Soi 13/2, there is a 24-hour Family Mart network store (closer to Beach Road), and on the corner of Soi 13/2 and Second Road is the 7Eleven store. Also on the side street you will find several tourist offices, a visa center and a pharmacy. In general, the transport accessibility of Max Hotel allows you to quickly and inexpensively get to almost any point of the resort. Max Hotel has its own laundry, but I only stayed for one day and did not use this service.

The cost of living in Max Hotel (Pattaya)

I booked this hotel on the day of check in using Hotellook smart search (direct link to the hotel) and got a very good price – 573 THB (or 17.6 USD at the exchange rate at that time). If you want to check in to the hotel without prior booking, then you will pay 700 THB for a standard room or 850 THB for a superior room. Of course, subject to availability room: the hotel is very popular, especially during the high tourist season in Thailand. For example, I could not move into the Max Hotel in December 2018, just because of the lack of available rooms on the dates I needed.

The cost of staying at the Max Hotel without online booking

In other words, I advise you to book this hotel in advance, but with a good price (below 700 THB for a standard room). If you are interested in the possibility of having a wire to the guest room, then right at the front desk it is stated that you can spend 2 girls in the room for free, and for a third you will have to pay an extra 300 THB. At the same time, girls must have an ID card with them. For an extra THB 400, you can extend your stay at the hotel until the evening. According to numerous reviews, you can leave your belongings at the Max Hotel after check-out, and luggage storage will be free.

My impressions of staying at the Max Hotel

Given the low price, Max Hotel is a very good option for staying in Pattaya. Despite the presence of a number of entertainment facilities in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, external noise does not interfere with sleep, i.e. the rooms remain quiet. I recommend this hotel for those travelers and tourists who prefer to spend a minimum amount of time at the hotel, but for whom comfort, a stylish interior, availability of all necessary infrastructure and transport accessibility at any time of the day is important. Max Hotel in Pattaya really looks better than its price and is one of the best hotels in terms of price / quality ratio.

The new Unixx South Pattaya condominium, which the Thai people themselves call simply Unixx Condo, is one of the most modern residential complexes in the resort, with a host of advantages. During my long trip to Thailand I visited Pattaya several times. However, after I discovered this residential complex, I stayed there and in the future, because this option for living in the city I really liked for a number of reasons. In this review, I will talk about the main advantages of the Unixx South Pattaya condominium, its location in the city, transport accessibility, infrastructure and convenience of living in this place. In the review Unixx Condo will be added photos and video of the apartments in which I lived, as well as the territory of the complex.

CONTENTS OF ARTICLE ( links for quick navigation)

Location of Unixx South Pattaya

This is perhaps one of the main advantages of Unixx Condominium. As you can understand by the name of this residential complex, it is located in southern Pattaya. And if it is more exact – that in area near to the main pier of a resort – Bali Hai. If you were in Pattaya, you probably saw the Unixx Condo from a distance or close, because it is huge 45-story building and it’s simply not possible to see other such buildings there. The residential complex of Unixx South Pattaya is located about 10 minutes walk from the Bali Hai pier and the famous Walking Street, which also begins (or ends) next to the pier. This means that you can get to the pier on foot and save on taxi.

Also, the location of Unixx South Pattaya is convenient because one of the main routes of tuk-tuks in Pattaya passes nearby. If you need to get to the condominium in the daytime, you can drive almost to the entrance to the residential complex on a public tuk-tuk (songthaew), which rides south along Beach Road and Walking Street, and north from the Jomtien beach area. In my videos, I showed the place where you need to stop the transport in order to go as little as possible. At night or when you are interested in traveling in the opposite direction (from the condominium to the north or south of the resort), you need walk about 3 minutes to stop and on the road any passenger pickup that moves in the direction you need.

Location of Unixx South Pattaya on the map of the resort

At night with cheap transport the situation is a bit more complicated, but you can at least spend the night in nightclubs on Walking Street or play pool in the area of this street, and after that it’s easy to get to your room This is especially true if you run out of pocket money and you can not use mototaxi or taxi in Pattaya. Of course, there are some nuances. For example, in the evening time on the road from the pier to the condominium there are many buses with Chinese tourists, who before that had fun in floating restaurants near the pier. And on the sides of the road are parked a lot of the same buses, and there are no sidewalks as such. In addition, after heavy rain, part of the street may be flooded. Especially often this happens in the trestle area.

On the other hand, it is not necessary to go the shortest way and you can always use the neighboring one, where road traffic is not so active and your path will be longer only for a few minutes. But it is better to use the services of mototaxi. This will cost from 60 baht during the day (from any area of Walking Street) and not more than 100 THB at night. If you are not alone, but together, then the cost of day and night should not exceed 120 and 160 baht for two person. And for 200 baht you will be taken to the entrance door to the Unixx Condo from anywhere in central Pattaya (with a successful bid and from the north or Jomtien too). For example, I traveled from Unixx to Third Street in Pattaya for bye tickets to Koh Chang and paid for a trip in both directions 160 THB. Also at night from 7Eleven near the pier to the entrance door to the condo in just 30 THB.

Finally, i can not fail to mention the fact that all residents of Unixx Condo have the opportunity to get to the resort center for free. To do this, you can use a special passenger pickup truck, which is sent from Unixx strictly according to the schedule to the main shopping centers of the resort 5 times a day. Also, the great advantage of this condominium is its location next to the Pratamnak Hill. Firstly, it is the main green zone in the center of Pattaya. Secondly, this is an excellent place for morning or evening jogs (there is a special route around the hill). There is also an outdoor gym area (if you do not have enough of those that are available in the residential complex and are free for residents).

Transport schedule from Unixx South Pattaya

Thirdly, it is place of several important attractions in Pattaya – a viewing platform near the radio station and the Buddha Hill with a huge statue and a beautiful staircase. Finally, the location and height of the complex allow one to admire the main bay of Pattaya and the coast in South Pattaya from the rooms or from the viewing platforms of the condominium. But, perhaps, it is better to talk about this directly in the next chapter of my review of Unixx South Pattaya.

Common infrastructure of Unixx South Pattaya

Like any other modern multi-apartment residential complex with a private area, Unixx South Pattaya allows you to have a good rest even without having to visit the resort’s beaches (if you can replace the sea with a pool). There are just two large swimming pools with sun loungers. The main pool is located in the garden and has a good size for swimming, as well as several attractions. For example, in the pool there is a climbing wall (three ascents with varying degrees of difficulty), a water slide for children and adults and even a area with a Jacuzzi, which is generally uncommon for Pattaya. Also around the perimeter of the pool are water jets, which with a powerful water flow make an excellent back massage. And at night (after sunset) the pool has a beautiful multi-colored illumination.

The second pool is located above the ground level and is a quieter resting place. This does not mean that the main pool is overloaded with tenants. With these words, I just wanted to clarify that my girlfriend and I were the only visitors to the second pool, which also has good dimensions for swimming. Next to each pool there are showers and toilets, comfortable sun loungers and beautiful trees – palm trees and plumeria (they are also frangipani – trees practically without leaves, but with beautiful and very tasty smelling flowers that are the symbol of all Asia).

  • The main pool of Unixx South Pattaya with a water slide

In the residential complex Unixx South Pattaya there is a well equipped gym with modern exercise equipment, a sauna, parking for private transport or rented, laundry on the fifth floor (not free, but inexpensive, self-service). There is a children’s playground with swings, stairs, sandpits, etc. You can use high-speed elevators Unixx South Pattaya only if you have a special magnetic card, which should be touch to the reader before selecting the floor you need. This, as well as 24-hour security and many video cameras guarantee the security of the tenant and guests of the residential complex. By the way, the employees of the condo are very polite and smiling. Especially memorable was the guard opening the door in his cap, each time giving a military greeting.

As I already wrote, Unixx South Pattaya is a very high residential complex, approximately 45 floors. At the same time on the 37th and 41st floors you can visit open observation platforms. It is not just a place to look down on the resort, but also full-fledged places for rest. And sky parks these places of rest were called not by chance. The territory is not too big, but there are natural lawns, trees, bushes and a gazebo with soft seat bags. I think, it is not even worth mentioning that some of the best species in all of Pattaya are opening from those viewing platforms. In this case, I personally liked the view from the observation deck on the 37th floor. From it opens the best view of the central bay in Pattaya. The spectacle is excellent at any time of the day!

Review of one bedroom apartment in Unixx South Pattaya

It so happened that I originally lived in an apartment on the 12th floor with one bedroom. In fact, this is a two-room apartment in which one of the living rooms is combined with the kitchen. Since the design of all studios and apartments can be completely different (thanks to Thai designers), it does not make sense to describe specific apartments. But the layout of all apartments with one bedroom is approximately the same and usually differs only in the location of the kitchen. Also, the layout can be not only the same as in my case, but also a mirror (when the bedroom is not to the right of the entrance, but to the left). Also, the dining area can be either separated by some decorative elements, or not.

  • View of a living room in Unixx South Pattaya

In any case, one-bedroom apartments have enough space for living and sleeping several people. In my case, the bedroom had a large bed, and in the living room a soft leather sofa. The kitchen is equipped with a modern hob and microwave. A refrigerator and a large Toshiba TV are also available by default in each apartment. I really liked the spacious and bright bathroom. A neat washbasin with a ClickClack system, a comfortable toilet and a spacious shower enclosure with a normal and rain shower. Most of the one bedroom apartments have a private balcony with a table and chairs. There, on the balcony, the outdoor part of the air conditioning system is installed.

In my case, the indoor units of the air conditioner were installed both in the bedroom and in the studio and could work separately from each other. The bedroom has a built-in wardrobe with a safe. The window in the bedroom is smaller than in the studio room, where it is almost the entire wall from floor to ceiling. But the bed was very comfortable and wide. If you like to fall asleep under the sound of a TV, I want to note that in my case the second TV on the wall in the bedroom was not, but in a number of similar apartments it is available. Better to see once than hear a hundred times. Therefore, I propose to see a short video review of the apartment on the 12th floor (video playback will begin immediately with a review of the room).

Review studio-room in Unixx South Pattaya

As the name implies, the second type of accommodation in Unixx South Pattaya involves accommodation in a regular studio – a living room with its own kitchen. In my case it was a studio room on the 34th floor with a similar view from the window, but thanks to the location of about 60 meters above, the view from the window was generally stunning. Especially since the bed is located next to the panoramic window on the whole wall and could if you want all day and all night to enjoy an excellent view of the Pattaya Bay and most of central and North Pattaya from high. Before settling in this studio, I was going to go to the observation deck at the radio station to do a time-lapse video of the sunset and dawn, but in the end it turned out to be done without getting out of bed.

  • Amazing view from a window from the Unixx South Pattaya studio room window

As in the previous case, the room is equipped with a similar kitchen with a microwave and an induction hob, a kettle and a fridge. The room also had a table and two chairs, air conditioning and the same bathroom as in a one-bedroom apartment. Since there is only one room in the studio, a flat TV hangs directly on the wall in front of the bed. Perhaps the main disadvantage of the studio in comparison with the previous version of residence is the lack of a balcony where one could sit outdoors at a table and hang a swimming trunks or a wet towel. In some ways, the situation was corrected by a special clothes dryer, available in the studio. The condoninium has high-speed Internet (Wi-Fi), almost always free. Below is a video fragment with an overview of the studio apartment on the 34th floor.

Cost of living in Unixx South Pattaya (rental price)

Since most apartments and studios in the Unixx residential complex are owned by private individuals, the best way to rent a studio or an apartment with one or two bedrooms (such apartments also can be available) – is a using special rental services from the owners. Also a small number of apartments can be found on Booking.com, but there is a very early reservation and prices may be too high. If we talk about the average price for short-term rent, it is 20-30 USD per day for the whole apartment. Given that you can live there even three or four (in rooms with a separate bedroom), it turns out cheaper than a bad hostel per person. At the same time you get the opportunity to live in a very prestigious residential complex with swimming pools and almost in the center of Pattaya.

Not all apartments in Unixx have this view from the window, as it was in my cases. On the other hand, the view of Jomtien beach or Pratamnak hill with temples and a large Buddha statue is very interesting. And the cost of such apartments is often lower than the cost of apartments overlooking the central beach in Pattaya. After all, great photos can be made from viewing points on the roof! In the complex, a lot of apartments are rented and the cost of some exceeds 50-60 USD per day, but you will always find more affordable options, especially with early booking. And knowing some nuances and using the bonuses correctly, you can even live in Unixx South Pattaya almost for free.

How to rent an apartment in Unixx South Pattaya cheaply or for free

I booked an apartment and a studio in Unixx Condo with the help of AirBNB. Surely, many have heard about this service search and booking of housing from owners and, perhaps, already used the services of this authoritative international service. If you do not have an AirBNB registration, then I have good news. By registering with this link, you will receive a nice cash bonus on your first booking. Depending on the country, this amount is from 25 USD to 40 euros. In addition, after receiving the bonus, you can also invite friends and acquaintances and give them a similar bonus. And most importantly, you will receive bonuses for the first booking of your guests.

The amount of AirBNB bonus often changes in the direction of decrease, so I advise you not to lose time and make the registration as soon as possible. Bonuses accumulate on your bonus account, and you can live abroad paying for the apartments with this money. In the case of apartments with a separate bedroom, I did so, paying the first 4.5 days of accommodation bonus of $ 122. My first day in the studio-room, I also paid a bonus of $ 22, and for the remaining days I had to pay with my money. In December 2017, the cost of “my” studio was about 30 USD per day, but now thanks to high ratings the owner of the studio (Chinese woman) has increased the cost of living to 48 USD per day. When searching for apartments in Unixx Condo with AirBNB you can see that the price for similar rooms can vary greatly depending on the time of year and the owner of the accommodation.

The difference in the final price for a month rent and 27 nights

In addition, the feature of the service is the availability of discounts for long-term apartment rental. This makes a long lease much more profitable than a daily one. Discounts are often up to 25% for a stay of 7 days or more and up to 60% for a stay for a month. This allows you to stay for a week at a price of five days, and the payment of a month of residence is often more profitable than paying for 20 days or even 2 weeks. In addition, long-term accommodation allows you to reduce the total cost of living at the expense of cleaning fees. This item is often included in compulsory services and has a fixed cost for each owner, regardless of whether you rent for one day or for a month. In the picture for an example, two screenshots on which you can see how the size of the discount affects the cost of living. As a rule, the discount for a week is 10-25%. but still the amount per month (ie from 28 days and above) шт any case is less than rent for three weeks or even 27 days.

My impressions and conclusions

I really liked the Unixx South Pattaya condominium and it was one of my best placements at this resort. After I lived in ordinary hotels too, I lacked the degree of freedom that a separate apartment can provide. And I did not rent once again in this residential complex only for the reason that New Year holidays were approaching and there were no more vacant apartments at a price that was acceptable to me. When i will hoosing options for staying in Pattaya on the next trip to Thailand, I definitely consider the possibility of living in Unixx South Pattaya. The room with a separate bedroom seemed to me more convenient (because of the balcony, more richer equipment and other small things, but it depends more on the owner). On the other hand, when living alone or couple, even in the studio, there is enough space and I remember my travel to Pattaya not least thanks to the view from the window for a million dollars.

In other words, I come to the conclusion that ideally I would like to have a room with a separate bedroom (as more comfortable), but located closer to the top of the building and overlooking the central beach in Pattaya. And all this at a reasonable price up to 25-30 USD per day for a long stay. And my most important fear is that because of the large size of the condominium there will always be too many people, like at the station, did not come true. There was no queue at the elevators, there were enough sun loungers by the pools, etc. Of course, I want to live in other residential complexes with panoramic pools on the roof, but they are usually much more expensive and it will be a completely different story. I hope my review of Unixx South Pattaya with photos and videos was useful for you, as well as information on how to live in this residential complex of Pattaya with the maximum level of comfort at the lowest price. Have a nice rest!

Not very pleasant news for those who prefer to rent a motobike or car in Pattaya and move around the resort on their own. Local authorities in Pattaya have decided to tighten the rules for renting vehicles. First of all, it concerns the increase of the fine for driving motorbikes and cars without the presence of international driving licenses for tourists and fines for rental companies that have given out a lease to such tourists. In addition, a list of documents that every foreigner should have with him when using leased vehicles is published. More details about fines and consequences – in full article.

According to the Pattaya Police Department, foreign nationals will be fined 1,000 THB (about USD 31) for driving vehicles in Pattaya without the necessary documents. These documents include: a passport (or ID card), an international driver’s license (with the required category) and a national driving license. Clarifies that these documents are not just necessary to be available (for example, to lie in the hotel safe), but should be with you while driving a car or motobike. Thai citizens will also be fined if there is no driver’s license, but the amount of the penalty will be less and at the moment it is not yet definitively determined.

However, this is not all innovations. Vehicles (cars and motorbikes) will be confiscated on site and delivered to a special parking lot. In this case, the arrested vehicle can be returned only by the real owner (for example, a rental office). And the rental company will also pay a fine of 2000 THB. Of course, first of all, the new rules will lead to difficulties for the rental of motobikes, because it was difficult to rent a car without an appropriate driver’s license and before the introduction of new rules. At the same time, money in Thailand solves many issues and it is quite possible that rental offices will simply require an additional cash deposit (in the amount of 2000 THB) from every foreigner who wants to rent a car in Thailand or a motorbike without the necessary documents.

As a reason for the tightening of the rules, local authorities have called the ever-increasing number of accidents and road accidents in Pattaya, which are caused by tourists. It is foreigners without the necessary knowledge of local traffic rules and without practical experience that often become the culprits of an accident. In addition, there is information on the increase in the number of crimes that foreigners commit on vehicles rented in Pattaya. Thus, renting a vehicle in Pattaya will become more difficult for foreigners. And one more way out of this situation will be obtaining a Thai driver’s license, which a foreigner can receive even during temporary residence in Pattaya or in another city in Thailand.

If you plan to relax in Pattaya in the late spring or summer of 2018, then for you can be useful information about the ongoing reconstruction of the northern part of the Central beach. In general, the renovation of this beach site was started about a year and a half ago, but was later suspended for 15 months due to a discrepancy in the quality of sand. It was found that the sand from the island of Koh Rang has a darker color than the classic sand on the beach in Pattaya. However, after a series of tests, the consultants of Chulalongkorn University proved that the sand recommended by them will eventually correspond to the usual color. This is due to the fact that the bright Thai sun very quickly decolorizes the imported yellow sand from the neighboring island.

The new sand is already placed on a 100-meter stretch in the northern part of the Central beach in Pattaya and its color really quickly became bright under the influence of sunlight. Therefore, contractors promise to complete the renovation of the beach for three months – until the end of August 2018. Currently, sand from the island of Koh Rang Qian (it is located about 10 km west of Ko Lan) is delivered to the coast of the resort by special barges and is used as needed. By the way, you can see the central beach in Pattaya in real time with the help of one of the live webcams in Pattaya..

The width of the Сentral beach in Pattaya is constantly shrinking

The main reason why local authorities began to renovate the Central Beach is its gradual washing out by sea waves. To illustrate this process more clearly, it is enough to mention a few figures. In the middle of the last century, when Pattaya was not yet a popular resort, the width of the central beach of Pattaya was more than 35 meters. And in our days in many places the width of this same beach does not exceed 5 meters. If the authorities refused to reconstruct, then in about five years the beach would completely disappear.

In addition to directly placing new sand, special geotextile nets will be installed in the water area of the beach, which will hold sand. If everything that has been planned will be implemented and the funding will be received in full, the central beach of Pattaya in the northern part will be increased to 35 meters in width. It is also planned to pour a 15-meter strip of sand along the beach below the water level. With positive experience, it is planned that a similar reconstruction in the future will be carried out in other parts of the beach in central Pattaya.
